My husband and I spent 5 nights here at the beginning of May, 2011 for our anniversary getaway. It is a studio apartment on the owner's property but it is on the 2nd floor and not directly over their house so it felt private and secluded, very quiet. It is very cute and we were very happy! I would disregard the one negative review posted about this property - it is true that the linoleum in the bathroom could stand to be replaced and maybe a DVD player would be a good upgrade but this studio is clean and comfortable, much better than a hotel. There is no oven or stove so if you had in mind to cook a lot for yourself, you might be a little bit limited. There are hot plates though and we had no trouble making pasta and nice breakfasts for ourselves. The neighborhood is beautiful, we walked to get coffee and meals out in North Park and the drive to anywhere you could want to go in San Diego is very short and scenic. We had a great time and would stay here again if going back to San Diego!

My husband and I visited San Diego this January. We wanted to escape the cold and relax for a couple weeks. We found this apartment to be a terrific find! It is in an adorable neighborhood and literally 1 min from the I-5 freeway so we never got lost and were able to explore San Diego with ease. We reccomend this apartment to anyone who values clean, cute and convenient! Thank you very much Matt and Leslie!!!

We recently stayed in this beautiful studio and had a spectacular experience!!! My boyfriend and I came into town for my birthday celebration in San Diego. The studio was very clean and beautifully decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable and the owners fullfilled our needs every step of the way! We had a rental car so the parking spot right below our entrance made us feel more secure. We got to meet the owner's Dogs and they were the sweetest, most adorable animals we have ever met. I loved the wireless internet access! I was able to keep up with work while still enjoying my vacation with no stress. We loved that it was so close to Balboa Park! We went to the zoo and had a blast. We also visited the Museum of Art and the Natural History Museum. I highly suggest taking a trip to the park. It's a must! Next time we come we plan on bringing our golf clubs and checking out the Balboa Golf course. It is literally down at the end of the block! We also took a taxi to the Gaslamp District downtown for my amazing birthday dinner at Oceanaire Restaraunt! The taxi cost us maybe $10 with tip and the food was the best seafood we've ever had. I will come and stay again for sure. The amentities and price were amazing. I had a wonderful birthday vacation!

This place was a perfect landing spot for our busy San Diego trip. Me, my husband and 5year old son were more than comfortable. The owner was very helpful with directions to local hot spots and basic shopping too. So close to Balboa park with the zoo and all the wonderful museums, you could walk on a beautiful day. A 5 minute drive to old town or seaport village. Close to the interstate and downtown/gaslamp. Lovely neighborhood, great for walking. Also loved the off the street parking. We had an amazing time and I would recommend this rental to anyone.

My husband and I stayed at this property for a little over a week, and just loved it. The living space is cozy, but far more comfortable (and affordable!) than a hotel. The bathroom is huge and the entire apartment is clean and well maintained. There is a seating area in the kitchen, and an oversized chair in the sleeping area. The counter space in the kitchen is somewhat small, so it can be challenging to cook elaborate meals, but it can be done. There is a lot of storage space in the cabinets and the refrigerator is roomy, so that is a plus. We had more than enough towels, kitchen basics, soap and some other cleaning supplies, blankets, and even things like an iron and ironing board. The parking space in the back is convenient and Matt and Lesley are friendly as can be and very accommodating. The apartment is quiet, sunny, and private, with a small deck that has a limited view of Balboa Park. The location is excellent--literally a half block from Balboa Park and a few blocks to a bus that goes directly downtown. The highway is only a few minutes away, so traveling around San Diego by car is a breeze. The North Park neighborhood has a number of good restaurants, bars, and shops, too. We brought our dog and not only were Lesley and Matt sincerely dog friendly (they have dogs of their own), but the neighborhood was full of people walking their dogs as well. The apartment showed no signs of wear and tear from animals. The apartment *is* up a flight of stairs, so anyone with an older dog should be aware of that. From the time we started inquiring about the property, through booking, traveling to San Diego, staying in the apartment, and leaving at the end of our stay, the owners were responsive and friendly. The apartment itself met all of our expectations. Not only would I recommend this property highly to anyone looking for a convenient and comfortable place to stay while in San Diego, but I will surely stay here again if I have the good fortune to be back.

Location was not on street but off a dark alley in a back street. It was very dark when parking car. The bathroom linoleum was curled up and my companion tripped on it.The lighting on the the outside stairway is very poor and I tripped in the dark. Owner out of town & I had no phone number. I had to email for bath towels and new coffee pot. The gate had a peculiar lock on which was hard to open. TV was old and remote did not work. The "DVD Video Library" was old VCR tapes. No dresser; no phone. Dogs in yard barked from 7AM to 11PM. No room to get in & out of bed due to limited space. Had difficulty working shower. Electrical plug in living area did not work. Unit was clean but I feel this unit has several safety issues. Therefore, I would not recommend it for families with young kids, senior citizens, people with disabilities or a girls getaway. Because of dogs there I would recommend it to pet owners. Owner had not responded to me email.
Owner response: We should have never rented to this man, I am sorry I did, other property owners please beware. He stayed the entire week then threatened to leave a bad review unless we refunded his money. I think he may be a scam artist.

My daughter and I went stayed in this lovely hideaway June 2009. We stayed a week and had a wonderful time. The owner Leslie and her husband were very nice and friendly. The accommodations very clean and comfortable. Leslie had a notebook full of activities to do in San Diego and local restaurants which was very detailed and helpful. There is a great hamburger place listed in Leslie's book and if you get a chance go there its awesome. The neighborhood is very safe and quiet. You walk 1/2 block and the golf course is right there. This wonderful hideaway is great for 2 people. Another observation is, that the people of North Park were extremely friendly!! I have recommended this place to several of my friends. I looking forward to staying there again in 2011. Thank you Leslie for your hospitality!!
