Location: Seneca, Lake Keowee, Upcountry, South Carolina, USA (10 Minutes to Seneca, SC)
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 6-10)
Keywords: House
At the end of a private, tree shaded road with custom landscaping, our house opens on to a quiet cove with a long view of Lake Keowee.
As you enter the bright, sun filled house, the lake is visible through large Palladian windows. On the right is the dining room with high, tray ceilings and a solid French oak table that seats 10. Cheerful original paintings dot the walls.
Straight ahead is the family room with pine cathedral ceilings and light hardwood floors. Alcoves spot light local art pieces that can be viewed from two soft leather couches. A 42 inch satellite TV, DVD and stereo provide entertainment options.
The eat in kitchen offers another set of large windows and a wonderful view of the lake. The island centered designed kitchen provides all any chef could want to create vacation meals.
Down a short hall way lie two bedrooms with high ceilings, fans, large wooden bed frames with brightly colored quilts and pillow top mattresses. One bedroom opens directly to a screened porch that overlooks the lake.
This porch has several cushy chairs and couches for morning coffee or afternoon reading. Another deck from the family room has a teak table that seats 6 and a gas grill for dinner overlooking the lake. Throughout the house are colorful pieces of "art furniture" that brighten the house.
The steps down to the lower level lead to a large tiled family room with a tv, large pull out couch, and a partial kitchen, a perfect place for kids to escape from the parents(and parents from the kids). There is another large bedroom that faces the lake. The sound of the waterfall can be heard through the windows. Also there is a large, walk in closet and another full bathroom.
Out the lower level is a large deck area filled with comfortable chairs and a table next to a delightful rock waterfall. Also there is a triangular fire pit to enjoy smores at night. A kayak, rubber boats, and water toys are available.
A gentle flagstone walkway leads to the water which can be enjoyed from the private dock, the gazebo at the shore, or by simply walking into some of the best water on the East coast.
The lake shapes your experience at our house. There are water views from several rooms and multiple decks. There are only 2 other house on the cove, and most of it is protected by woods and trees which cover one whole side of the cove. So enjoy the beautiful and quiet setting.
Just in case, there is shopping, restaurants, movies and Clemson University a 10-15 minute drive away. And golf, tennis, and the waterfalls and mountains are only a 30 minute drive.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2003
I am a semi retired psychologist and management consultant and my wife is a psychotherapist. We live in Atlanta, and come to our house in Lake Keowee as a wonderful retreat from the city.
Why the Owner Chose Seneca
We searched for a lake house within a 2 hour driving time from Atlanta. Lake Keowee was a pleasant surprise-un-crowded, even on summer holidays, clear and clean water, near the shopping of a small town and university, and close to the hiking trails and waterfalls of the mountains.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Our house is a wonderful retreat from the city. We are on an almost private cove with only 2 other houses, a protected green space on one side, and a long water view that is insulated from the sounds of boat traffic in the distance. The water level is more immune from the drought that has affected other nearby lakes, and my first boat has proved to be a joy. This relaxing location is only 10 minutes from shops and Clemson University and 20 minutes to the mountains. As a consultant who traveled 150 night/year for 20 years, our retreat is perfect.

Beautiful, tranquil, close to everything

The online pictures do not do this home justice. It's a truly beautiful home with more than sufficient room for group and solo activities. The screen porch, decks, patios and luscious landscaping creates a very tranquil atmosphere. Although it's in a smaller town, all the necessities of life are very close by - restaurants, grocery, shopping (such as Tuesday Morning and Belk), etc. The home is within a very comfortable drive to Clemson and the surrounding areas. The home's wireless network worked flawlessly allowing me to meet work obligations very quickly. There was absolutely nothing lacking - abundant linens of good quality, kitchen supplies (not just one pan/ pot but enough for a full meal), and other general cleaning / toiletry items. During our stay we had one issue - a triggered home alarm. When the owner was contacted his response was prompt and remained constant through the resolution. If the opportunity presents itself my family will definitely stay again.
Owner response:The alarm system has been disengaged and won't be a problem in the future.

What a wonderful weekend we had at your place. The house is lovely and well supplied. Our 1 year old grandson enjoyed the openness of the rooms. The screened porch, patio, waterfall and covered dock added to the peacefulness of the property. After spending all day hiking to waterfalls, it was nice to come back, relax and kayak in the cove. We would definitely return.
