Luxury Cabin in the Mountains

Guest: Dave (Salt Lake City, Utah)
Date of Stay: 09/02/11 Review Submitted: 09/05/11

If you are looking for a lovely, clean, well-maintained "cabin" on the Sundance resort property, this is your place. You have all the advantages of being connected to the resort without any of the disadvantages. Yesterday we enjoyed their amazing brunch, hiked to the beautiful Stewart Falls and grabbed a burger in their historic bar, all without ever getting into the car. The cottage has real character and is ideal for a couple who just want to get away from it all. The pictures are accurate and the shower is indeed as large as it looks.

My husband, 2 daughters adn I had a lovely quick getaway to this cabin this Summer! The cabin was beautifully and comfortable decorated and the kitchen, albeit tiny, had everything you needed. Gorgeous master bath, lovely linens. We will be back but next time for longer than 24 hours!

You can't beat this cottage. It's beautifully decorated, everything works, and it's walking distance from the resort. As an added bonus, the owner couldn't be more accommodating. We will definitely rent this cottage again next year.

Stayed here with the invitation from my good friend Rudy who had urged me to use his cottage for several years now. Finally accepted his offer this year and stayed at his beautiful cottage for 4 days with my wife and 2 daughters. One word - WOW!! Thank you so much for introducing me to Sundance and your cottage. Your cottage is absolutely beautiful - we especially appreciated the short walk from the Sundance ski lifts and being able to relax in the jetted tub after a hard day of skiing. Also loved being able to walk down to the Owl Bar and the Grille. The girls loved the sleeping nook and your great selection of games and movies. Your place is a find and we'll get the word out - see you next year - hopefully for much longer.

Best Sundance Experience Yet!

Guest: SixSteps (Orange County, CA)
Date of Stay: 12/26/10 Review Submitted: 05/12/11

This has been our 5th Christmas vacation spent as a family in Sundance. We love the mountain and Rudy and his family's cottage was the best year yet. The biggest highlight of the cottage is the close proximity to the actual resort. 5 minutes and you are at the lifts, restaurants or lodge. While other cabins mention walking distance to the resort they often leave out the fact of a large hill to climb along with a ton of stairs. For our family with small children this cottage was the first one that the walk was actually a simple walk that they could handle. The cottage itself was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom is gorgeous and huge... it could almost be another bedroom. The kitchen is a little small but we were still able to cook after mountain meals with no problem. Over all it was a great time and we loved the fact that we could step out the door with our little kids and take a simple walk (no large hills and steps) to go play in the snow. We will be returning for sure.

My husband and I stayed at this place for 2-nights and had such a fabulous time. The room had everything we needed for the weekend and is very well kept. I loved the large windows with beautiful views and the gorgeous bathroom. The movies, games and magazines were also much appreciated. Sundance was very peaceful and relaxing and can't wait to come back again.

Fantastic Experience!

A Five Star experience! When I spoke with Rudy, the owner, he said "you won't be disappointed" and boy was he right! The cottage was beautiful and very well kept (the pictures don't do it justice). It is beautifully decorated with interesting art everywhere. My five year old daughter is going through a "cowgirl" stage and loved the various western touches. The bathroom had a wonderful two person jacuzzi tub with candles provided, and a separate shower. Also, very much appreciated was the assortment of games and puzzles. It was quiet and serene and comfortable. Parking was near the cottage so hauling luggage was easy. THe resort is wonderful and has everything you need. Great food at the restaurants and the deli counter for sandwiches for picnics and excursions. The homemade lollipops were my daughters favorite. Great hiking, mountain biking, scenic chair lift. we had a great experience rafting (ask for Nick) and took some beautiful drives along the Alpine Loop. A very relaxing stay and highly recommended. We are coming back here as often as we can!

My family spent the week of August 5-12th at this property. Rudy, the owner, was very helpful and provided detailed information about things to do in the area and was kind enough to arrange for us to have a "pack and play" at the place for our 2 year old son to sleep in. The listing of amenities at the cottage was accurate -- it was especially nice to have a little email computer that accesses the internet to look up directions. I loved waking up to open windows and the sound of chipmunks outside my window and to smell the fresh mountain air. The cottage was beautiful with very nice ammenities and was very well maintained. We have stayed at similar places in the past and by far this was the nicest and best maintained. It was also nice with small kids to have a washer and dryer just a very short walk from the cottage. We had two kiddos with us (6 and 2) and they loved staying at the cottage as well as exploring the Sundance property. My 6 year old daughter made a beaded bracelet and necklace at Sundance in the Art Shack. We also enjoyed hiking around the Sundance property. We liked the deli and the Foundry Grill at Sundance. I also liked the Sundance Gift shop which had some unique items. The spa was nice and I had a good backrub. Next time I would pass on a manicure there. Lastly we were fortunate enough to get to see a live performance at the Sudance Outdoor Theatre which was really nice -- bring a blanket. The Provo river is a great place to fly fish and my husband and daughter fly-fished for a 1/2 day with a great guide they got through Provo River Outfitters. Another place that was fun to go for our family was to Park City Mountain Resort where we went down an alpine slide and then did the alpine roller coaster. This spot was a little like a tourist trap - but the alpine slide and roller coaster were worth it. The historical area of downtown Park City is very nice to walk around in, shop and there are some good restaurants. We also loved hiking in the Wasatach Mountain range -- which is about 45 minutes to an hour from Sundance (near Kamus). We loved the short and family friendly hike to Ruth Lake. We also had a little picnic at Provo River falls on the way to Ruth Lake. Hopefully we can make it back for some skiing this summer or bring back the kids next summer for more hiking and fishing.

Sundance Cottage

We reluctantly left your Sundance Cottage early this morning. It snowed on us this morning! I just wanted to thank you for sharing this beautiful space and to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay. We celebrated my mother's 88th birthday there. She said it is one of the best vacations she has ever had. She sat in the large chair facing the beautiful big window and spent hours looking at the mountain and the birds. She slept very well, as we all did. The shower was easy for her to access. We spent many happy hours at the kitchen table and talked about everything under the sun. We even worked one of your puzzles. My father died 3 years ago and she has not had many happy times since then. She lives on the 12th floor of an apartment complex for older people in a studio apartment. We left her laughing and telling all her friends about the wonderful experience at Sundance. I think it restored her soul, a little, as my Dad loved the mountains and spent many weekends on the Alpine Loop. Your Cottage is relaxing and homey. We couldn't believe how many little "extras" you provided. It was such a wonderful experience. We spent hours looking at the artwork and the beautiful coffee table books. We hope to stay there again sometime.

One of the Best!

My wife and I had planned on being in town for our son-in-law's college graduation. It was also the week of our anniversary. We knew we wanted to celebrate both, and didn't necessarily want to burden the family with more guests, or pay for 'another night in a hotel'. She found Upper Aspen on VRBO. The price was within our range, and we booked it. Best decision we've made in a long time. For those who have not been to Sundance, you will be amazed at how peaceful and serene the setting is. Most of the time, all you can hear is the small stream and birds overhead. No overbuilt mountain or ski resort, Sundance truly is the "Rocky Mountain High". It is a beautiful mountain backdrop, and you are immediately lost in the scenery, as opposed to the maze of condos, cabins, and 'amenities' that seem to be the style of most mountain get-aways today. The cabin itself only reinforced the feeling of serenity and warmth that the canyon had already shown us. Peaceful, warm, inviting. Not too much, not too little. Just right. The feel of the old west was alive in the decorations and style of the cabin, from the artwork, the rugs and the overall feel of the interior. Very nice. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time here. Hotels may provide a spot to stay overnight, but we found Upper Aspen to be a wonderful place to create long-lasting memories. Personally, the owners were very interested in making our stay a good one. They emailed, called and were very attentive to our needs. Given the chance again, we'll be back! Thank you for opening up your home to us.

Mountain retreat

Date of Stay: 03/25/10 Review Submitted: 04/06/10

This was our first time visiting the Sundance/Salt Lake area and we would definitely stay at the Sundance Cottage again. It's as beautiful as it looks in the photos and it was great to be able to walk right over to the lift for skiing at the resort. The scenery and the skiing were awesome. It was also nice that Park City was accessible for all the skiing, shops, galleries and restaurants over there but you can retreat back to the peace and quiet of Sundance in the evenings. My girlfriend is not a skier and enjoyed reading and relaxing in the cottage, which has a spa feel about it, and taking walks around the resort. You feel like you are away from it all up here. We loved it and heartily recommend this property.

I was able to go to Sundance early January and stay at this rental. What a great time and a beautiful rental. We were able to walk to the slopes, dining, and to go have a beer at the bar. What a beautiful place to stay and wake up in the morning and look out that big picture window and see the snow coming down and the mountains. We were able to sit at the dining table and have breakfast and look at the same beautiful scene. Thanks for the pleasure in staying in your home away from home. I look forward to going back again.

We stayed twice in your cabin. Once in Summertime and once during the winter. It was a wonderfull experiance. The cabin was nice and roomy and had everything you would need for a stay. The area is beautyfull, you have to have been there to find out. We have fond memories about our stay at Sundance and we hope to get back there in the near future.
