Relax and enjoy the close proximity of the North Shore & its sightseeing and yet only a few minutes from the City of Duluth! You will appreciate the natural wood, timbers, stone/tile & the heart of an authentic log cabin. The living room has a Danish wood burning soapstone fireplace, formal dining room has heated & tiled floor, as well as a main floor bedroom and bathroom. All 3 levels each have a bath & bedroom(s). Master bedroom offers a guest bedroom suite which also has a queen size bed (accessed w/french doors from master bedroom). We also have another queen bed in a walk out room in the lower level (additional cost). The property is not located on Lake Superior. We built it with a vision of bringing together a warm environment. Tranquil & natural setting of wooded setting, seasonal stream, lots of natural products used in the building process- stone, tile, hand crafted plaster, reclaimed fir timbers, and lots of beautiful spacial rooms.

The large open and covered deck area has 2 picnic tables and lots of chairs for outside dining, propane grill, and a beautiful view of the natural environment! Enjoy the peaceful setting of nature, seasonal meandering stream around the property, lots of nature, and only a few skips away from the North Shores of Lake Superior.
Our property is fronted by a seasonal meandering stream and is approx. 1/2 mile north of the Great Lake Superior & McQuade Harbor- for your launching of your boat.

We enjoyed our stay at the Timber Home. We really liked the living area, porch and yard. Those areas made it really easy to keep our accumulated 5 kids entertained. The sleeping areas were perfect and what we needed. Our only issue here was that noise traveled really easily throughout the house. The photos were accurate and the owner was mostly helpful in most aspects. We had a hard time with the path to the house. And we had to wait almost 2 months to get our security deposit back. But the lot is really beautiful and the house is comfortable.
Owner response:We would like to respond to a review posted for our Timber Home “It had pluses and minuses” Our cottage has insulated flooring/ceilings in the whole main floor. We were pleased to receive this review to test the noise travel during this past weekend when we had a house full of company who attended a local wedding. We had company in the kitchen, dining room, living room and other areas of the house. Five nieces and nephews and our 8 month old child were able to sleep in the upper and lower levels of the house without disturbance. This experience has reassured us that our insulating/sound proofing of the main floor has certainly helped diminish noise travel. We agree that the secondary stone pathway to the home may be difficult for some to tread (with physical disabilities). We will be building a new walk bridge in place of our bridge that was recently washed out during heavy rainfall/flooding of our creek. Regarding the statement that it took “almost 2 months to get the security deposit back”-this is untrue as this party received their complete damage deposit within 2 weeks from the date we received their mailing address. However, this is a good reminder to any family who stays with us to email us their mailing address so we can return the damage deposit within the time required. We look forward to accommodating your family! Thank you again.

We recently spent the weekend at the cabin with a group of friends. The cabin was everything we pictured it to be. We enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen where we were able to make all of our meals. We spent a lot of time outside as the cabin is nestled in the woods. The living room was perfect for all of us to enjoy the wood stove. We did not have any problems with the cabin and would gladly stay there again! Thanks for the great weekend :)

A long weekend in September couldn't have been any better than spending it with a whoole bunch of my family at this cabin north of Duluth. Even though it was rainy and cold for a few of the days we found plenty to do around the area. I got to put my photography skills to use and am glad to see my night time photo of the cabin made it to the main page here. Thanks for the great weekend. Jeff Grotte
