The Ridge Retreat is a timber-framed 4 BR/3 BA home with a great room, fully equipped kitchen, sleeping loft, third floor writers nook, deck and covered porch.
The retreat is located on a ridge line with 45 mile views that would make you think you are in Montana, yet you are located just 3 miles from downtown Huntingdon, PA , home of Juniata College.
Raystown lake, the largest lake within the borders of Pennsylvania, is just minutes away with boating, swimming and fishing. Although the lake is the single largest tourist attraction in the area, there is a plethora of other activities all with in 20 minutes from the Ridge Retreat.
There are mountain biking trails certified by the US Mountain Biking Association 15 minutes from the retreat. The skeet shooting range used by the US Olympic team is just 10 minutes from the retreat. Lincoln Caverns is just 10 minutes away. In 20 minutes you can fly-fish the streams that President Jimmy Carter fishes. You can tube, canoe or kayak on the Little Juniata River just below the Raystown Dam.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2006
My wife and I are active in many art and craft areas. My wife plays in two community bands that perform on a professional level. I enjoy making furniture and doing cabinet work. and we are both readers. Therefore the peaceful location of our mountain retreat seemed to be just suited for our tastes. Yet, if you are more active, if you enjoy physical activities there is so much to see and do in this area that no matter what your interests you will find enjoyment.
Why the Owner Chose Huntingdon
My Wife and I fell in love with the solitude of this location and yet it is accessible and easy to reach from Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Washington DC and Northern VA. It offers such a variety of activities that it would take a month to visit all of the historical sites, fish all the streams and the lake, bike all the trails, hike all of the logging trails, or---just sit on the deck with a book , the sun and the birds.

The cabin had ample kitchen facilities and seating for 10. TV was on the smaller size for the room. Not much to do in town but great get away for hiking and nature lovers.
