“The Maltese Falcon” is indeed what dreams are made of. Located on Ono Island, an exclusive, gated community, it is a beautiful, 4 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom home that is elegantly furnished for both style and comfort.
As you walk up the stairway to the main floor, the 20 foot ceiling and custom draperies and matching upholstered furniture grabs your attention. The slate fireplace towers up toward the roof and ceiling fans cascade down to keep the room temperature perfect. The entire room is filled with sunlight from both the skylights and large windows.
Also on this floor is the kitchen, well equipped with a Fisher & Paykel cook top, down-draft vent, Kitchen Aide appliances, and Corian countertops. If some in your family doesn’t like what is playing on the 37” HD TV in the great room, there is a second TV in the den, complete with sleeper sofa, just off the kitchen. The laundry room, powder room and walk-in pantry are also on this floor.
One of two master bedrooms is located on this floor and has a separate entrance to the porch. And oh what a porch it is with protection from the elements, ceiling fans, rocking chairs and more room than you could imagine. It is perfect for snoozing, reading, or watching the sunset.
As you continue to the upper floor, the second bedroom and full bath are on your left and the second master bedroom, complete with Jacuzzi tub and separate shower await you. The fourth bedroom is next to the upper master bedroom. All the bedrooms have abundant storage and closet space.
The 250 foot pier and enormous boathouse were completed in March 2009. The boathouse has a boatlift, custom benches, and a center island with mini-refrigerator and hand painted sink, which is perfect for entertaining, napping in the hammock or waiting for the dolphins to swim past, as they have been known to do.

We were all a bit road-weary in my family as three factions gathered at this Ono Island property for a few days off. Though we live in New Orleans and used to travel to Orange Beach area frequently, we had not done so in years, especially since Hurricanes Ivan and Katrina. So we were amazed by the rebuilt! All so modern, clean and inviting. Ono Island was wonderful because as a gated community, it is so calm. The property is just beautiful...tons of butterflies and the area is great for biking with our small nephews. The house is fantastic, just tons of light and of course, we all lived on the pier, fishing and talking. Dolphins, herons, perch, trout, stingrays...the waters have it all. Very fun and exciting. The kitchen and living room were everyone's favorites, and by the end of our stay, we were so relaxed and pampered. This is how much we loved it: Everyone swore we were going shopping on Black Friday but...we never left the house.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We have been visiting Ono Island for many years for our get away from the northern winter. The Maltese Falcon is the best accomodation that we have found so far. Spacious, well kept, clean and very well equipped with all the conveniences. The membership in the nearby Ono Recreation facility is especially useful and we used the first class gym and pool almost every day. It is a delightful place to relax and just watch the wildlife and the water as well as to entertain and accomodate our visiting friends.

The house is so spacious and located on a beautiful spot on the water. Each bedroom has a beautiful view . You can leave the blinds open and awake to see the fish jumping or a sea gull scoop up his breakfast. Sitting on the wrap around porch is so relaxing. It is fun to watch the resident Blue Heron perched on the pine tree limb in the yard . One evening I saw a first for me - an owl - perched on the same limb where you usually see the Heron. Everything is clean and fresh - lots of windows letting in the sunlight. There are plenty of towels, cooking utensils, everything you need to have a wonderful time. I stayed for the whole month of October to do business and to relax. There is a dsl connection with a wireless router where you can set up and work from your laptop if necessary. You don't need a boat you can just fish from the beautiful spacious dock. Flounder lurk around the dock posts. I just hated to leave. Ruth is so gracious and accommodating. You will love staying at the Maltese Falcon.

Recently visited the Maltese Falcon on a golf trip and the accomodations were perfect. The boat house was the best feature of all. Brought along some Jet Skis and a bay boat for everyone to enjoy. The swim ladder really made the late afternoons as everyone found themselves in the water floating on rafts and enjoying the sun on the water. Recently stayed at the location with my golfing buddies and it was fantastic. We've stayed at many vacation homes through our 20 plus years of traveling as a group and this home rates in the top 3. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay along with a well furnished, clean environment. The boathouse was great for enjoying the view, discussing the our rounds of golf and having a few adult beverages. Looking forward to a possible return to the Falcon again next year because of the great accommodations and golfing options.

Our stay at The Maltese Falcon was perfect. The house is set up great for a large family. We spent many days on the huge porch reading and relaxing, taking long walks on the island and boiling crawfish on the wharf. The wharf is perfect for entertaining. We will be booking our stay again next year. Or we may try their Fairhope property. We had such a great experience with Ruth. Very accommodating...
