We make several trips a year from Fl to visit our daughter, her husband and our wonderful grand daughter in Evergreen, Co. I have always wanted to stay in a cabin and not be cooped up in a hotel room while visiting them. We usually stay with them but this time we wanted to do something different. The Sunrise Lodge was every thing I was hoping for. It was rustic, comfortable, roomy and a lot of fun. Being from Fl and waking up to temps in the high 40's was a great change. We baby sat our grand daughter there at the Lodge and she loved running from room to room. I took her hiking there around the property and had a lot of fun coming across deer and a fox. To cap off our visit we awoke the last morning to find eight deer at our door step. We hope to go back out to Evergreen in Dec and look forward to staying in one of Micheal's homes again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family stayed at the Sunrise Lodge for about eight days in August. We found the accomodations to be an outstanding value. The property owner was very friendly and helpful - especially when our car broke down during our stay. He went out of his way to recommend a towing company and service station that was able to get us back on the road again. The Sunrise Lodge is very roomy and home-like. We found it to be super clean upon our arrival. Being able to make our own meals saved us a lot of time and money. We especially enjoyed grilling our dinners in the evening on the deck of the Lodge. The beds were very comfy and inviting. And, suprisingly, we got excellent TV and cell phone reception - although we made it a priority to avoid those things on our vacation. It is a great place to unwind, but not well-suited for small children as the surrounding terrain is very hilly and uneven. But, what do you expect - it is in the mountains! The road to get to the Lodge may be difficult the last half mile or so, but it is worth the effort. As a point of reference it takes about 20 minutes to get to downtown Evergreen, CO from the Lodge. Bottomline, we highly recommend this cabin for a great get-away! We will definitely come back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at Sunrise Lodge with our two teenagers. It was a perfect family getaway. Very clean, everything in good condition and super comfortable beds. Michael was a great host and provided helpful communication as we were planning our trip. It's a beautiful area. Be sure to visit Mt. Evans! We loved our stay here. :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at the Sunrise Lodge with a group of 6 adults and had a wonderful vacation. The cabin was very comfortable with beautiful surroundings. Just a short drive from Evergreen, we saw elk, foxes and deer on the drive into town. We enjoyed hiking in the surrounding area by day and coming back to relax on the decks in the evening. Michael was very helpful and readily available during our stay if we had any questions. A wonderful getaway!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing.

The altitude bothered me as did the steep dirt road, but that aside, the house was lovely and nicely appointed. We had a very enjoyable stay and Michael was quite helpful. The 10AM checkout seemed early considering the need to remake the beds and clean the house however, upon request, we were kindly granted an extension.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners.

This was a great family cabin - so roomy, a lovely setting, and yes, the sunsets were spectacular. We're already planning our 2014 Adventure, and will plan on at least two of these great cabins. (Although I definitely want MY same master bedroom in Sunrise Lodge.) The bed was so comfy, the room huge - and so quiet. We even had a red fox visit twice, right up on the front porch to smell the turkey. Thanks for letting the kids cut down TWO Christmas trees. We loved the 'Charlie Brown' effect. Great hospitality, and the 26" of fresh snow the day before we arrived was perfect. We definitely needed the four wheel drive. We built a fabulous sledding run right beside the cabin, and didn't have to go anywhere - read books, relaxed, ate amazing food in the large kitchen, played board games, and slept so well. Michael was a wonderful host, but really, we needed nothing to make our stay perfect. Once we unloaded the cars and put our provisions away, we suddenly felt like this really was OUR cabin. It couldn't have been better.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is the second time we have stayed in one of Michael's nine homes. Our first experience set the bar extremely high, but the Sunrise Lodge easily measured up. The Lodge is well done at every level ... furnishings are in excellent condition, including all linens, the kitchen is well stocked with every convenience, and the home is inviting and very comfortable. We regret that we did not have time to just hang out and enjoy the accommodations and the beautiful surroundings. Michael pays extreme attention to every detail - those that we can see and enjoy and all those that need attention "behind the scenes" I'm sure. After having such positive experiences in two of Michael's homes, we would not hesitate to stay in ANY of Michael's homes, expecting the same level of commitment to detail and guest satisfaction that we found during our visits this summer. We give Michael our whole-hearted endorsement for his "top-drawer" level of accommodation and service.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was a lovely getaway from the stress of it all! We have family in Denver and Conifer and this was a perfect way to have some privacy yet visit with family without staying in a run of the mill hotel. We enjoy the wilderness, the trees, the smells and sounds of the forest, so this cabin was perfect for that. The sunrise was amazing! The cabin was very comfortable and we had everything we needed. Michael is very friendly and helpful. The first morning we were there, we got stuck in the driveway (our fault in the way we chose to turn around) and Michael was great to come and help us out. This cabin has all the modern necessities, even some fun movies and interesting books, but also had the feel of a "cabin in the woods". We are from the desert, so this was really nice!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a wonderful experience our family had, high in the Rocky Mountains, just outside the quaint and beautiful mountain town of Evergreen, CO! Our home away from home was clean, well equipped, and extremely comfortable. We enjoyed a visiting fox one morning and majestically antlered deer just off our porch on another occasion. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we found it so restful to come home from our excursions to Denver to the peaceful mountains. Thank you, Michael! Your excellent hospitality ensures we will return on our next trip West!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We found the property to be relaxing, fun, and exciting. If you have never experienced seeing the biggest bucks or the cutest fonds up close, then this is the place to be. We had several lodging options to stay in Evergreen, but were so thankful that we stayed here. The pictures don't do the house justice!!!! It's a perfect place for the great escape with the comforts of home!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our stay at the Sunrise Lodge was wonderful. We were in Colorado for a wedding and this location put us at the center of where we needed to be. Michael was very friendly and willing to help us with anything we needed to make our vacation complete. I would definately recommend this property to anyone needing to be in Denver area, that wants to stay outside of the city. When we come back for our next vacation I definately would try to stay in one of Michael's properties again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We rented the Sunrise Family Lodge for a friends wedding in Evergreen. In all we had 7 adults from all over the world stay with us. The cabin was the perfect fit. One of our friends commented that it had been a while since he had been in a home that was so cozy and inviting, (CHINA). Being from Texas, we really enjoyed the crisp mountain air in the morning and the fireplace at night. The house was clean and welcoming when we arrived. The directions that we received made it very easy to traverse the steep hills and dirt roads that lead to the cabin. We would have opted for an all wheel drive, as suggested, had we realized sooner the severity of the hills. All in all we had a fantastic time with our group and couldnt have found a better place to meet! We will be back as well as tell others about this place!! Thanks Michael.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Just a short note of clarification. Our guests need not rent or bring with them an All Wheel Drive Vehicle in the Summer months. We only recommend an All Wheel Drive Vehicle for the Winter Months when snow storms make it difficult to go up and down hills anywhere in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The roads to our Vacation homes are well maintained by public County Road Maint Crews and the hills are not a problem for a regular car in the summer months. Please call us any time if you have questions. Sincerely Michael 303-946-0726

The cabin is very nice with comfortable beds. It is really too nice to call a cabin. Michael is nearby if you have any questions. His directions to the cabin are spot on. The road to the cabin is fine but I imagine you would want 4wheel drive in snowy months. It was nice to have internet.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

My friends and I rented the Sunrise Family Lodge to attend some concerts at Red Rocks. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lodge, we only wish that we were able to enjoy it longer as we were only there for the weekend but were seeing concerts both nights. Michael was so accommodating with our check-in and check-out and with his hosting, we will definitely consider the Sunrise again when our future plans include visiting this lovely area. Memorable times at Sunrise Lodge!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sunrise Family Lodge. Micheal was very helpful and provided a pack-n-play for our 17 mo old daughter. His directions were good. The house was clean (though perhaps a bit dusty) and very quiet and peaceful. We had everything we needed to cook meals and enjoy a family get together. The location was a bit of a surprise as we arrived at night and the last part of the drive to the house is up steep, washboarded dirt road which actually proved to be a bit of a challenge for our little hire car! I wouldn't say I thought the house was really 'convenient to town' as others have said - it was a good 15 minutes down the valley to Evergreen from the house. We enjoyed the hike around the lake in Evergreen and the hiking up in the Evans peak area (the later a good daytrip from the house). The kitchen / living room / dining area was very comfortable and open plan and well decorated. The deck was nice to sit on too, though there were nails that stuck out of the wood and we had to keep a close eye on our daughter as there were no railings at her height. I would definitely recommend this property to friends (perfect for couples) and would consider staying again next year. Thanks Micheal!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

The "Sunrise Lodge was clean and comfortable as promised. My wife and I would like return sometime to relax. This trip we brought the kids and were compelled to "see the sites". I think this is an ideal staycation location for denver metro families and couples who want a relaxing spot to spend some time with a good book. It is convenient to Evergreen and the entire front range. We enjoyed our stay and Michael's hospitality. Kids enjoyed the home like comfort and all of the mule deer we saw at the lodge.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our recent stay at Sunrise Family Lodge was everything that we had hoped it would be. Six girlfriends spent two days/nights there. Conveniently located for visiting charming downtown Evergreen or day hikes on the many trails in the area. We also went to a concernt at Red Rocks Amphitheater which was quite close by as well. The lodge was VERY spacious ( more than enough room and mirrors to accomodate six women) and comfortable, very clean and quite affordable. It is a bit difficult to find the first time around; very steep winding dirt roads but well worth the effort. Our only complaint is that we could not stay longer!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a spectacular weekend we had! Simply surreal! We decided to find a place to spend the weekend in the mountains and believe me when I say, "We found a place!" Not only will we be back, but we're bring people with us. It was beautiful inside and out and something I'll never forget. I am trying to come up with a date for my wedding and plan on more than one cottage next time. We saw a heard of elk run right by us as we sat on the front porch, saw a black fox on two occasions, and watched an eagle glide overhead till it was out of site! We will be staying for a week or more with family and friends on our next trip. Michael - I thank you again, JR~Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
