The house is located in the gently rolling hills of Paso Robles Wine Country. The area is covered with many beautiful oak trees and acres and acres of vineyards. We were drawn to this area when our children were small, we camped at the local lakes and loved the small town atmosphere of downtown Paso Robles. We purchased Riverstar Ranch and Vineyards in 1992 and with the help of family planted 60 acres of wine grapes.
Riverstar was a horse ranch and had one 2 story barn and 2 wing barns. The second floor of the 2 story barn became our lovely vacation rental. From the wrap-around deck you can view the incredible sunsets. You can cook in the kitchen while looking at the vineyards or barbeque on the deck. Maybe you want to head into town to one of Paso's great restaurants.
When you come home to your "home away from home" enjoy relaxing on the cushy sectional and watch a movie or go out on the deck and see the millions of stars that light up the sky. When its time for bed enjoy the silky linens and comfortable beds. Wake in the morning and take a walk around the vineyard or on the quiet country roads and forget the world you left behind.
Take in the afternoon sun, read a good book or go "Wine Tasting" next door at Riverstar's boutique winery and tasting room. Talk to the winemaker as he lets you taste the new vintages from the barrels.
When you go into town you will think you have gone back in time, a time when you could walk to a movie and stop at your favorite restaurant for dinner. After dinner have an ice cream cone and enjoy it as you walk around the park with its wonderful old shade trees and fountains surrounded by flowers. Sit on a bench or walk around town, stop and check out the entertainment at the local nightclubs before coming back to the Ranch.
Make your reservations soon for a girls weekend, or round up your favorite couples. Come with your family or maybe just yourself. Stay a few days or a few weeks, there is lots to do and enjoy in and around Paso Robles.

Owner's Map of Paso Robles
My husband and I "retired" to the Paso Robles area because we liked the small town atmosphere and friendly people. The place we bought happened to have 26 acres of grapes and our next phase of life was born. Some of our family moved here and we became part of the grape growing community in Paso Robles. ED loves the outdoors and farming. The wine business has become our "retirement", we enjoy it so much we decided to share it with others and hence the Vacation Rental was born.

Impeccably clean, bright, comfortable! Better than described. Secluded and private, wonderful view, comfortable, plush bedding/pillows. Perfect place to unwind, cook your own breakfast, pack a picnic lunch, or make a private dinner with a great bottle of wine! No need to try to beat the crowds in town. Thank you Riverstar Hosts for a very relaxing time away from the daily grind!!

Muriel and Ed were fantastic hosts for us last week at RiverStar Winery. We and another couple stayed there 3 nights. The rooms are amazingly spacey and fully-appointed. We especially loved the wrap-around deck on which we BBQ'd and stargazed. It was just amazing to look out onto the vineyard from the room. Ed was also kind enough to give us a personal tour of the winery. It was amazing! You will NOT do better for the price and convenience! Enjoy the stay (and get some of their great wine, too).

Well.... I forgot to leave a review from our stay here in October. We had the best time! Muriel & Ed have very nice accomodations. The place was comfortable and clean! We came with another couple and had plenty of room. The vineyards are so beautiful... the perfect place for a walk in the morning or early evening. We loved the quiet and peaceful feeling - it was so relaxing... just what we needed. Love the wine! Would stay here again in a heartbeat! The old town square area of Paso is so charming. Lots of great eats there!

We Pennsylvanians were in California to visit family. This leg of the trip included a drive up the coast with our son and his girlfriend. The pictures truly don't do it justice. The accomodations are lovely. Everthing is clean, warm, welcoming, with everything you need provided. Muriel had lots of information for us about touring in downtown Paso Robles, and my home wine-maker husband was delighted with the time he spent with Ed, asking questions and getting some good advice. We spent mornings walking among the vineyards,had our own wine tasting event before leaving, and sent some great wines home to share our wonderful experience with family and friends. You can't go wrong at River Star Ranch!

We rented this vineyard townhouse for a close by family wedding and Muriel and Ed made us feel so at home we completely enjoyed all of our time here. They went out of their way to accommodate us. The townhouse is very nicely appointed and the balcony was wonderful. If we are in the neighborhood again we would love to spend some more time at this comfortable getaway!
