Property (5 acres) looking West with Inverness Ridge in background
Location: Point Reyes Station, San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA (55 Minutes North of San Francisco) View Map
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
Welcome to our home in Point Reyes, a five-acre rectangular piece of land on the Mesa above Pt. Reyes Station. The house is located in the sunniest part of town where summer fog from the Pacific/Inverness usually burns off by mid-morning (at least during the warmer months). We have a remodeled deck at the back of the house which provides a great area for enjoying the sights, sounds and beauty of this special part of the world. It's also a great place to grill local foods on our easy-to-use and well-maintained gas grill.
Our house is a cozy and casual place. It's great for families and kids and is nice to come home to after a long day out hiking, beaching, or exploring the beautiful Pt. Reyes area. The main area of the house has an open floor plan with kitchen, dining and living room. There is a wood-burning stove perfect for those chilly evenings. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The first bedroom has a queen bed and ample closet space. The second bedroom has two twin beds. The third bedroom is a master suite with a queen bed, attached bath and ample closet space as well.
There is also a pull out couch in the living room which will sleep an additional 2 guests. Ideally the house sleeps six, but can accomodate 8. We also have a pack and play for infants and can provide a high chair if needed.
Nearby you will find the Point Reyes National Seashore with an amazing diversity of hikes, coastal ecosystems, and history. Choose to spend time in any one of several local towns each with their own personality and something great to offer.
Easily drive or walk to nearby Point Reyes Station (just under a mile) for breakfast treats at the Bovine Bakery, a trip to the local market (Palace Market), a yoga class (Yoga Toes), a visit to the Farmer's Market or a meal at Osteria Stellina, a local Italian restaurant recently named one of the SF Chronicle's Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants. There are a host of other delicious food and charming retail establishments. Other towns worth a visit include Inverness (Vladimir's), Nicascio (Rancho Nicascio), and Olema (Olema Inn).

Why the Owner Chose Point Reyes Station
We have been going to Point Reyes on weekends since 1994 and think it is one of the most special and undiscovered (at least under-utilized) natural treasures in California, which places it right near the top of the most amazing places we have visited in the world (night time stars in the sky, beautiful forests, beach and coastal waters, berries, apples, birds, elk, coyotes, salmon (hopefully), cheese, hiking and biking on fire roads, a surprising amount of culture for a tiny little town, oysters, rancho nicascio, bovine bakery, western saloon, station house, cafe reyes, yoga, toby's, olema inn etc...).
The Unique Benefits at this House
our simple ranch style house is set on a rectangular parcel of land that is 5 acres in size and characterized by an open main field bounded on two sides by mesa road and two sides by neighbors separated by spruce and cypress trees, respectively. the perfect blend of openness with privacy, the Mesa area in Pt. Reyes is the sunny part of town so bring sun protection. nights are cool with incredible stars on clear nights. there are wild blackberry bushes on the property which fruit during the summer. the house is less than a mile walk from town - flat with one 2-3 minute uphill on the way home.
The neighbors down the road of goats, chickens, miniature ponies and the house dwon from that has a couple of horses
Great breakfast spot for take-out muffins, coffee and The New York Times
Walk out of the house and down Cypress Road and back to Cherry Lane. Views of Tomales Bay and a nice flat walk with little traffic.
Everything you need to know to explore the Point Reyes National Seashore
Owner's Map of Point Reyes Station
The owners use and enjoy the house throughout the year and are hoping to share the joy of a Point Reyes getaway with friends and friends of friends so please pass the word.

A relaxing setting was the perfect way to describe the house. Lucky for us, the weather was AMAZING so we took advantage of the patio, BBQ, and let the dogs run the property. It's great for dogs -- lots of room for them to explore and it's far away from the street. The kitchen and living room is nice and open which is great for cooking/serving/sharing food and drinks. The living room furniture was pretty basic, but we spent most of our time outside anyway. The only two things we would negatively comment on: (1) the master bedroom bath window in the shower is not obscured so the neighbors could see you showering and (2) the garbage cans are way too small to accommodate a party of 8 for 3 days. It's recommended to either limit your trash or be very diligent with sorting compost and recycling. But, all in all, our friends and family enjoyed themselves which is all that matters. Thanks for the experience!!

Perfect place for grandparents from the Midwest to meet and spend relaxed quality time with son, daughter-in-law, and 4-year-old grandson from Oregon. The property was as pictured in the photos - comfortable, cozy, quiet, clean and well-equipped. Toy box was a great plus. The rental agent was quite helpful and friendly. Comfortable beds, hot showers, sunshine, hikes, beaches, bakery, animals in the back yard...what's not to like?! Hope to make this a yearly tradition.

This is hands-down the most well-appointed vacation rental I've stayed in: full kitchen, beautiful stove and refrigerator, some staples and even a beer cooler on the back porch. We spent our mornings on the back deck having coffee, our evenings on the sun deck enjoying the sunset, and half the day chasing the toddler around the enormous yard. It's not fancy, but it's just perfect for three generations to spend some time together and relax. We saw two deer, several moles, an osprey and countless other birds. Wonderful!

Had a very relaxing stay here with my hubby, son and in-laws. The house was perfect for my 21/2 year old( even a toy box!) and lots of yard to explore- also loved the sheep and donkeys down the road. The walk into town was a pleasant 15 minute stroll past paddocks and cute houses. Loved waking up to the distant sounds of cows mooing. hens clucking, birds chirping and deer in the yard. Awesome star gazing at night and bbq oysters out on the deck- perfect! The house was very well equipped- my highlight was the master shower with a view of the trees!!!

We had a wonderful girls' weekend of relaxation, fine-dining on the porch (as we watched the sunset) and delicious oysters in Bolinas. The house is very comfortable and decorated with an eye for detail. It's also a within walking distance to town, which was a plus for shopping. It worked perfectly for the seven of us.

I have stayed at this house a couple of times and love it. It's pretty close to town (very short drive or medium length walk), and situated in a lovely open field so you feel like you have no close neighbors. Quiet and peaceful. It is also great to sit on the deck, put your feet up and watch the sun set after a day of hiking, eating oysters and poking around Pt. Reyes Station. House has all the basic amenities anyone could need and a nice open kitchen/living room/dining room area where everyone can hang out together. Our kids especially love picking blackberries in season and having some wide open space to run and play!

Enticed by the photos of this house, my husband and I were not prepared to find an utterly charmless tract house at the end of a dirt driveway. The pretty green meadow beyond the back deck (also pictured on the web site) is a field of dead brown weeds. The furnishings are bare bones, 2 chairs and a TV in the LR (no couch), bunk beds in the master bedroom, uncomfortable beds and pillows throughout, food encrusted skillets. If this suits you, fine. But I urge the owners not to market this house as a romantic getaway, but for what it is: a summer camp within 4 walls.
Owner response:Dear Renter, We are sorry that our rental did not meet your expectations. We do everything we can to provide our guests with a pleasant getaway and when that expectation is not met, we do all that we can to make it better. As you may know, the Pt Reyes/Inverness area was originally a getaway for people that lived in San Francisco and many of the homes were, in fact, built as summer cabins. Ours is consistent with that tradition. We love (as have many others) its simplicity, sunlit rooms and deck from which one can enjoy the outdoors and time with family. We are sorry if it was not up to par from your perspective and we will take your comments to heart.
