Great House in Great Location

Guest: Maya (Berkeley, Ca)
Date of Stay: 04/27/12 Review Submitted: 05/02/12

I have stayed in this home numerous times and can honestly say it is one of the best vacation rentals I have visited. The location is fantastic because it is an easy drive from the Bay Area, yet feels like you are so far from the hustle bustle of the city. The house is located on a huge meadow that is all a part of the yard so you feel like you are secluded and have lots of privacy. The deck opens right out onto the meadow so if you have kids or a dog it is heaven! It is far from the road so it is quiet and we always see quite a few deer roaming around in the meadow. It's an easy walk into the darling town and short drives to beautiful ocean beaches or Kayaking on Tomales Bay. Lots of fresh Oysters and good organic food abound, or you can utilize the great kitchen or BBQ on the deck. All in all the house has all the amenities I look for in a rental getaway, it's clean, comfortable and quiet. I highly recommend it.

Comfortable Company

Guest: T.Y. (Sacramento)

A relaxing setting was the perfect way to describe the house. Lucky for us, the weather was AMAZING so we took advantage of the patio, BBQ, and let the dogs run the property. It's great for dogs -- lots of room for them to explore and it's far away from the street. The kitchen and living room is nice and open which is great for cooking/serving/sharing food and drinks. The living room furniture was pretty basic, but we spent most of our time outside anyway. The only two things we would negatively comment on: (1) the master bedroom bath window in the shower is not obscured so the neighbors could see you showering and (2) the garbage cans are way too small to accommodate a party of 8 for 3 days. It's recommended to either limit your trash or be very diligent with sorting compost and recycling. But, all in all, our friends and family enjoyed themselves which is all that matters. Thanks for the experience!!

Great family rental

Perfect place for grandparents from the Midwest to meet and spend relaxed quality time with son, daughter-in-law, and 4-year-old grandson from Oregon. The property was as pictured in the photos - comfortable, cozy, quiet, clean and well-equipped. Toy box was a great plus. The rental agent was quite helpful and friendly. Comfortable beds, hot showers, sunshine, hikes, beaches, bakery, animals in the back yard...what's not to like?! Hope to make this a yearly tradition.

Well-appointed, lovely home with a pastoral view!

Guest: Jody (San Francisco)
Date of Stay: 05/19/11 Review Submitted: 05/23/11

This is hands-down the most well-appointed vacation rental I've stayed in: full kitchen, beautiful stove and refrigerator, some staples and even a beer cooler on the back porch. We spent our mornings on the back deck having coffee, our evenings on the sun deck enjoying the sunset, and half the day chasing the toddler around the enormous yard. It's not fancy, but it's just perfect for three generations to spend some time together and relax. We saw two deer, several moles, an osprey and countless other birds. Wonderful!

Great getaway in West Marin

Date of Stay: 09/26/10 Review Submitted: 10/11/10

Had a very relaxing stay here with my hubby, son and in-laws. The house was perfect for my 21/2 year old( even a toy box!) and lots of yard to explore- also loved the sheep and donkeys down the road. The walk into town was a pleasant 15 minute stroll past paddocks and cute houses. Loved waking up to the distant sounds of cows mooing. hens clucking, birds chirping and deer in the yard. Awesome star gazing at night and bbq oysters out on the deck- perfect! The house was very well equipped- my highlight was the master shower with a view of the trees!!!

Wonderful weekend at your Pt. Reyes home

We had a wonderful girls' weekend of relaxation, fine-dining on the porch (as we watched the sunset) and delicious oysters in Bolinas. The house is very comfortable and decorated with an eye for detail. It's also a within walking distance to town, which was a plus for shopping. It worked perfectly for the seven of us.

sweet house in a great part of west marin

Date of Stay: 09/10/10 Review Submitted: 09/16/10

I have stayed at this house a couple of times and love it. It's pretty close to town (very short drive or medium length walk), and situated in a lovely open field so you feel like you have no close neighbors. Quiet and peaceful. It is also great to sit on the deck, put your feet up and watch the sun set after a day of hiking, eating oysters and poking around Pt. Reyes Station. House has all the basic amenities anyone could need and a nice open kitchen/living room/dining room area where everyone can hang out together. Our kids especially love picking blackberries in season and having some wide open space to run and play!

misleading photos misrepresent house

Guest: Jacki (Pacific Palisades, California)
Date of Stay: 07/22/10 Review Submitted: 08/06/10

Enticed by the photos of this house, my husband and I were not prepared to find an utterly charmless tract house at the end of a dirt driveway. The pretty green meadow beyond the back deck (also pictured on the web site) is a field of dead brown weeds. The furnishings are bare bones, 2 chairs and a TV in the LR (no couch), bunk beds in the master bedroom, uncomfortable beds and pillows throughout, food encrusted skillets. If this suits you, fine. But I urge the owners not to market this house as a romantic getaway, but for what it is: a summer camp within 4 walls.

Owner response:Dear Renter, We are sorry that our rental did not meet your expectations. We do everything we can to provide our guests with a pleasant getaway and when that expectation is not met, we do all that we can to make it better. As you may know, the Pt Reyes/Inverness area was originally a getaway for people that lived in San Francisco and many of the homes were, in fact, built as summer cabins. Ours is consistent with that tradition. We love (as have many others) its simplicity, sunlit rooms and deck from which one can enjoy the outdoors and time with family. We are sorry if it was not up to par from your perspective and we will take your comments to heart.

Highly recommended! Enjoyed a mid-week stay here with my wife and our 21-month-old son. The house is quite comfortable and is very well-stocked with just about everything you might need. The deer paid a visit every day of our stay, which our son really enjoyed. We also really appreciated the wirless internet, as our cell phone coverage was mostly non-existent (AT&T, naturally). Be sure to check out the owner's guide to the local area, as it has all the information you'll need regarding Point Reyes Station and the National Seashore. This property is particularly well-suited to families with small children.

We had a lovely time at this home. The home, while simply furnished, had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The kids loved going out at night with their flashlights and even saw some shooting stars. The adults loved looking out at the marvelous display of the Milky Way. The home is centrally located in a beautiful neighborhood. The owner is an absolute delight to work with. We look forward to returning to this treasure of a rental.

We thoroughly enjoyed our fantastic weekend at this wonderful getaway. It was incredibly peaceful to sit out on the deck and watch the deer, pick blackberries in the garden and soak up the sun. The house was perfect for our 2-year old daughter to safely run around, she loved exploring the extensive property and we all enjoyed the lovely (and easy) walk into town for tasty bearclaws and great meals. The house was well-equipped and clean and we really couldn't have hoped for a more perfect setup. Finally, the the owners were a pleasure to coordinate with and provided a wealth of info on the area. Very highly recommended!

We had a wonderful time! The house is comfortable and well-designed for a getaway. The yard gave my 3 year-old boy plenty of space to run around, go "hiking", and collect stones and pinecones. I loved the Pt. Reyes Farmers' Market, and we spent two days at Heart's Desire beach. I would highly recommend this home for a long weekend getaway!

We had such a wonderful weekend in Point Reyes! We loved grilling on the deck, walking to the farmers' market and going on hikes in Bear Valley. We already miss the deer that greeted us each morning from the backyard and the friendly locals we met each morning at Toby's coffee. We hope to be back soon!

My family spent a wonderful week at the Pt. Reyes Station Get Away. With grand-children ranging from 3 months to 6 years, it was the perfect spot for building memories in a homey setting with plenty of room to play and relax. It was definitely kid and dog friendly and the adults loved it too. The kitchen was adequately equiped and the butcher block was a great center piece. The deck and grill were favorites. We enjoyed the daily visits by the deer, quail and other feathered friends. I recommend this clean, well kept rental to anyone looking for a place in a fantastic location for peaceful holiday.
