Why the Owner Chose San Juan Del Sur
Me and my husband have 3 boys and have always wanted to own something on the beach. The beach-front properties in the US were always very crowded and commercialized. At Playa Coco we found something perfect for both us and our growing boys. The beach is clean and untainted and our children can run bare-footed on its white sandy shores. Me and my husband often sat on the front porch doing nothing but watching the sunset go down over the ocean waves. Spectacular.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa
Spectacular beach ...unspoiled beauty ...sound of ocean waves in the night. ...view of the Pacific from most rooms. ...surrounded by lush green tropical trees ...luxurious inside living ...great, friendly people.

The below were comments sent to us by guests who stayed at our place for 2 nights. His sister stayed with us the previous month and recommended our place to him. We wanted to post this as these are probably some of the most genuine comments we have received. Alejandro is from Managua and making such a great effort to converse with us in English. He is planning on coming again in the summer for a week with his entire family. Comments below:(Janel is our wonderful on-site property manager) Good morning, Karl. Thanks very much for renting your Unit No. 1 at EL COCO. We arrived Saturday at 2 p.m. & leave Monday at 4 p.m. Everything was in place. Janel and all other personnel were very helpful. The garden precious’s & swing pool very clean. The last 5 km of the road do not received this year any maintenance from the San Juan del Sur Mayor office; but they are constructing a 7 km road with brick – adoquines, very popular in Nicaragua – and once it’s finish, the travel will be easy. From 2 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday the all area was without public energy, but it was not big deal for us, because Janel put to work the complex energy emergency plant. We spend two beautiful days at your place and we thank you a lot. We hope in July can do the same with the rest of our families.

Excellent. Everything is as advertised. The condo is brand new and in mint condition. The riverbed stones and stone tiles mixed with the rustic would is truly modern and zen. 20 steps to the pool over looking the beach. There you will find alot of friendly vacationers and owners that will be happy to show you around. Playa coco is fairly isolated which makes the beach pristine. My wife and I found that we were the only ones of the beach very often. There a few more bungalos and hostels on the beach, be sure to stop at Lug's place for dinner, but the beach is still very quiet and peaceful. It is peaceful because it is isolated. It is about 18 miles down a very rough dirt road. I would highly recommend a 4x4 car rental. You can also take the "chicken bus" but it is hot, crowded and dirty. If you are looking for a quiet place ...this is it. If you want an action packed, jet ski renting, night clubbing vacation that is go, go go....San Juan Del Sur is 30 mins away but you should probably stay closer to town. We witnessed turtles laying their eggs on our beach and watched the little fellas scramble to make it to the water. It was truly amazing to see! Feel free to rent some boogie boards and hit the waves. There is also a river one bay over, the boys from Lugs will take you and you can see the howler monkeys in the trees. Pick up your supplies in San Juan Del Sur!!! There is literally nothing at playa coco. The guards can provide you with filtered clean and inexpensive water. Some things to do.....contact Aurora reality and they can organize tours for you, hire a local Nica-wife to cook and authentic meal, send a masseuse out there, rent a fishing boat etc. 5/5. Perfect. Amazing!!!
Owner response:Hey Tanner, Thanks for all the kind words. Glad you and your wife enjoyed your stay at our home in Coco. We feel privileged that you choose to stay at our home for your honeymoon. Thanks also for all the great suggestions. I am sure our future guests will find it very useful! - Karl

Karl, we really enjoyed our stay at the Coco resort. Your unit was very upscale, quite clean and spacious. This complex and beach is remote and as such you end up with a beautiful white sand beach almost to yourselves. It is quite peaceful and relaxing. A gated community with 24-hr guard at the gate. A wonderful place to get rid of the stress of the business world. They have only 18 units in the complex and a shallow pool for swimming in fresh water (in case one doesn't like to swim in the ocean). After much review of the pros and cons of driving in Nic., we decided to use Nicaraguan Escapade (Rodolfo) to transport us down there from Managua Airport and back and we were glad we did since we only stayed a few days. For longer stays we probably would have gotten transportation to San Juan Del Sur and rented a 4x4 at Alamo. On future trips, we may consider flying to Liberia Costa Rica as it appears to be a closer way to get there. The valley leading into the unit is very beautiful rural Nicaragua at its best. We even saw some monkeys in the trees. Your instructions were helpful and the photos accurate, but you should consider adding more as it is such a beautiful area. There are two restaurants within a 5-10 minute stroll down the beach. We tried the furthest one and had an excellent dinner of red snapper. I was told an Austrian owns that restaurant.
Owner response:Jim, We are glad you and your wife had a good time and feel privileged that you choose to spend your 25th wedding anniversary at our place. We meant to send you some fresh Nicaraguan lobsters, but the timing did not work out. We'll make it up next time! Thanks for all the suggestions. Yes, you are absolutely right. Our description and pictures do very little justice to the beauty of Nicaragua and the Coco area. Me and my family plan on making a trip this year and plan to take pictures of the scenery and wild-life. Good tips on flying into Liberia and the rental car. We'll keep this in mind for us and suggest to future rental inquiries. Hope to see you soon, Karl

Karl, Wonderful vacation had by all. Just a lovely little spot near the end of the world - perfect. Veronica, as you advertised, is an absolute gem. We were sad to leave when we did. (Exact email sent to us by Phil. He and his family stayed in our unit for 10 days over Christmas last year)

Hi Karl, I want to thank you for letting us stay at your lovely unit at el coco. My guest and I enjoy it very much although in the end we ended up staying 2 nights and not 3 as initially planned. We decided to go north and spend some time in the mountains there.. Thank you again and hope we can use your place in the near future. Best Marcos (Comment from owner - Karl Wahlquist. The above are exact words sent to us in an email by one of our renters who stayed at our unit in December in Playa Coco. Marcos owns his own business and lives in Granada)

I recently got back from spending 2 nights with 6 friends at this beach rental... it couldn't have been a more wonderful experience. The unit was spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed, and everyone we met was extremely helpful. I loved how close it was to the beach too! I will definitely keep this in mind for next time!

We enjoyed one week in August on Playa Coco. Extraordinary rain made a 4x4 vehicle necessary to pass the 2 rivers on the access road. It was worth it - we got to the well designed and maintained development consisting of 4 main buildings, each with 5 units. Our unit was a well located end-unit, 20m to the pool and 50m to the beach. It was very clean, nearly new and furnished with tasteful and practical wooden furniture. On the balcony or on the terrace on top we would have liked some furniture or a hammock stand. We did not miss any household items, except maybe a hair dryer. Drinking water was available on site. There are 2 pulperias with limited supplies within walking distance. Due to a generator, electricity was always there, the internet most of the time. Only on some evenings we turned the AC on. Few units were occupied during our stay. On site management and security were friendly and helpful. The sandy beach in front, with only few houses and one small hotel, is about 1km long. You may continue south until the Turtle Refuge La Flor. By car Ostional, 7km, is worth a visit. We may return to enjoy the comfort of the beautiful apartment, right on the large beach, surrounded by the untamed nature of Nicaragua.
Owner response:Thank you Jo for the kind words and for your feedback. I am following up on the terrace furniture as there should have been some for your usage. Hair dryer will definitely be useful. I've asked our property manager to purchase one for our unit. Thanks. We hope to see you and your family again. Karl and Sudha

Absolutely fantastic townhome. Very modern with all conveniences in a plush natural setting. The water was perfect for my kids. The ocean was just a few yards from the unit. Nice full service restaurant by walk on the beach. Can't wait to come back again. Very friendly people.

We have nothing but positive things to say about our experience with renting this amazing home. It had such a warm feeling to it as soon as we walked in the door. The house is beautiful and very accommodating for anyone renting it. Being the end unit made it extra bright and more private since no one walked in front of it, like the rest, in order to get to the pool/beach. It contains everything you need, along with its great location and affordable price. We have three children who were constantly in and out of the pool and ocean. Having the washer/dryer was a blessing. It was nice for peace of mind to be in a secure and safe community too. There is a wonderful restaurant a short walk down the beach with terrific food. The wide sandy beach is very family friendly. Visiting/seeing mother turtles laying their eggs as well as seeing the babies crawl to the water at La Flor Reserve was an experience my family will never forget. We will definitely come back often. We highly recommend this rental.
Owner response:-Mark and Antoinette, We are so glad you and your family had a good time. And also thanks for referring your friend to our place. - Sudha and Karl
