Very private gated home, surrounded by national forest with a path to the lake and a great view from the deck. Nested in ponderosa pines with a bald eagles nest near by, sightings are common.
If you can't relax here you can't relax at all. The lake/river is a short walk down a path or you can ride your ATV or drive a truck to river view for river fishing. There is a large clearing for volley ball, frisbie, scrimmage football, or just what ever you like. We use the clearing for target practice.
And of course the quaint town of Lakehead has several marinas, local market, places to eat, and the semi famous bass hole and club Klondike. we just installed new carpet throughout and a new deck, this place is clean, comfortable and relaxing.and we have toys for the kids with some board games for family fun. The history of this property is very cool it was deeded to the railroad for a source of water for the steam trains long ago, if you look at the pictures you can see the foundation for the old pump house.

We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It is in a remote area. The approach is confusing but it helped that the owner gave very precise directions to get there. I would advise to get there during daylight so it's easy to open the locks etc.the cabin was great and the kitchen was well stocked. There is a small hike to the lake but the kids could not play in the water as the lake seems to have receded of late. The lake bed was slushy but the great thing was that we could see a lot of animal tracks. There is a great store nearby to do your groceries..itis a bit expensive though so best to shop near home. The night sky was awesome here too. The tv is great too:).Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers.
Owner response: thanks for staying at our rental and bringing up the lake elevation. it is best to stay at our place earlier in the season if you want to enjoy the water from the waters edge. do to the Dam generating a lot of electricity in July and August. if boating it does not matter as the lake is very large. thanks again Darrin

We really thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the cottage. It was clean, spacious, and wonderfully decorated. It was fully furnished and had lots of amenities, as well as plenty of great books and toys for our children to keep themselves busy at night. It was very peaceful, rustic, and quiet - yet we felt very comfortable and safe there. We also enjoyed the activities in the area such as visiting the Shasta Caverns.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

I stayed at this property for a weekend. From the pictures, it looked like that it was a nice place. When I talked to the owner, he was very honest about the place being a little remote but clean. And that is what it exactly was. It was decently maintained and overall clean. However, it was a little too isolated for me. You have to cross railway tracks to get to the property and then there is a locked gate that you have to open. Imagine doing that at night with absolutely nobody around. It was a little bit creepy. But I have to say that the owner is vey upfront and honest about it. If you are looking for a romantic or easily accessible place, this is not the place for that.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.
Owner response: should have gotten a higher rating it is exactly as described. and I take the time to talk to most inquirer's about what they are looking for because of it's remoteness and the type of property it is, and what they want to do while at the place to see if it fits. I try not to have someone expecting something other than what the place actually is.looks like the 3 out of 5 is because Sandeep was looking for something different than our place. thanks Darrin

About the owner: We bought this place to relax and unwind from the fast pace of life today, this is the only place on the lake that you can walk to the lake in total privacy, house is surrounded by National Forest, fish, hike, ski, boat or what ever you want.
Why the Owner Chose Lakehead:
This area has it all a great lake, Mt Shasta 30 Minutes north, Redding is 30 Minutes south, and Shasta cascade area in between.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
I am a type A personality, can not relax, until I arrive here with the wild life right out side Canadian geese landing in the lake right off the deck, bald eagles soaring overhead. dose not get better than this. This is the most private home on the lake.
