My husband and I have stayed in many cabins in the Ellijay/Blue Ridge area but none can compare to My Back Porch. It is beautifully decorated, exceptionally clean, spacious, and the view is incredible. We could let our little dog relax on the deck area because it has a gate and there was no worry about her wandering off. We loved it! It is the perfect place to relax and recharge. We have already made reservations to return in October. Thanks, Pam, for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful cabin!
Owner response:Sherry, we are pleased that the cabin was a good fit for your family, including the little one! Several guests have mentioned the gated deck as being convenient for not only their pets, but for young children. Can't wait to have you visit in October for a completely different and stunning mountain view. Pam

Pam - my family and I fell so deeply in love with your home and the environment in 2011 that we knew we must return in 2012! After our visit this Spring (3/31 - 4/06) we knew this must be on our calendar no less than once each year. While we only stepped out when in need of new pastries (Mercier) in 2011, we hiked, took in a few of the sights and even zip lined this year. In true form, my 67 year old mother was the biggest dare devil of them all! As usual, much of our time was spent on one of the porches or around the fire pit each evening, just enjoying the peace and spiritual recovery offered by My Back Porch. Until next time – Amanda, Bruce, Shelby, Jordan, Billie and Beezus!
Owner response:Amanda, I don't know what to say! You went from munching pastries on the porch in 2011 to ZIPLINEING in 2012! When you "get out of the house" you go all the way! So glad you all had fun and also found time to return to My Back Porch for relaxing evenings! The best of both worlds in the mountains. Thanks for coming back and the kind words, Pam and Bob.

I have vacationed in the Blue Ridge area for the last ten years with my parents and siblings. Recently I vacationed at "My Back Porch" with my little family for our first vacation together. The drive up to the house was so simple, and the simplicity of our trip continued as we walked into the cabin. The moment we stepped through the door my husband and I were overwhelmed by the character of the home. It was so thoughtfully prepared to make any guest feel like they were visiting a home away from home. Our two babies( 2 1/2 and 4months) also enjoyed the trip just as much. Our eldest loved romping around the front and back yard singing joyously atop the wonder of the mountain. The view was spectacular! The house itself provdided so much enjoyment and activity that there really was no need to leave the cabin. Of course, we did venture into the quaint district of Blue Ridge and made a day trip the the Tennessee Aquarium. It was a 2hr drive-but very easy. The overall experience was better than the best vacations I have enjoyed. Thanks, Pam and Bob, for letting others relish in the beauty and tranquility of "My Back Porch."
Owner response:One of our greatest pleasures is being a part of a family's special memories. We hope My Back Porch will always be remembered fondly when you look back at special times together. Pam and Bob

My husband and I spent 5 days and 4 nights at My Back Porch with my sister and brother-in-law. It was a special weekend for all of us as both couples were celebrating 1 year wedding anniversaries and my husband and sister were also celebrating birthdays. The house is beautiful and you truly feel "at home" with all of the special touches Pam and Bob have added. We had two canine companions with us and they enjoyed the wrap around porch and running through the leaves in the yard. I spent each morning on the back porch with a cup of coffee, some knitting, and the gorgeous mountain view. I cannot remember the last time I was so relaxed. We loved shopping downtown Blue Ridge, hiked to Fall Branch Falls, and spent lots of time admiring the lovely changing leaves all over the mountainsides. I truly fell in love with the house, the area, and the mountain air on this trip. Is it time to go back yet?
Owner response:It sounds like you soaked up the fall mountain experience in Blue Ridge and at My Back Porch. It is so rewarding when guests credit My Back Porch with contributing to a great vacation. Thank you for your kind comments and come back any time! Pam

My Back Porch was so much more than we could have expected it to be. The pictures on this rental page do not do it justice! The Via's have created a warm welcoming environment that makes you never want to leave. The amenities, decorations, and level of comfort are far beyond what I have experienced before when renting in Blue Ridge. We found ourselves not wanting to leave the cabin much though we did manage a hike and a lovely lunch on the Toccoa river. We will definitely be returning to My Back Porch for vacation again. Thank you for making it such an amazing vacation spot!
Owner response:Nina, what a nice compliment. When guests have rented several cabins, but prefer My Back Porch, we feel our attention to detail has been rewarded. Thank you! And we are so happy that you did take advantage of some of the amazing activities in the area- Toccoa River Restaurant is one of our favorites also! Please come back for the summer activities! Pam

The pictures of "My Back Porch" do not do it justice!! The cabin was amazing and very very clean and comfortable. I would reccommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway or a family gathering. The cabin is laid out in such a way as to allow family time but also privacy. Beds were super comfy!! Pam made us feel as if we were old friends staying at her guest house, which made the experience even more stress free. Thank you!! If we decide to visit the blue ridge area again I would want to stay at "My Back Porch" without a doubt!!
Owner response:We are so pleased that you found your stay to be super comfortable and stress free. That is our goal! Please return to My Back Porch any time to recapture that "Mountain Hospitality"! Pam

Pam and Bob: Our family stayed at your home the first week of April for several days of wonderful relaxation. The moment I walked onto the front porch I exhaled and felt all the tensions and stress of the prior months begin to wain away. My mother spent most of her time on the porches, in quiet solitude while my husband frequently joined her to lose himself in a book he had been planning to read since last year. My daughter and her friend explored the property and all around it for hidden treasures and beauty. My mornings were spent on your swing with a hot cup of coffee in my hand and my sweet old puppy on my lap as we watched the sun rise over the mountain peaks. Every evening was our 'time around the fire' to tell ghost stories, roast dogs or marshmellows and to simply close out our wonderful day enjoying all of God's glory and your wonderful mountain home. Sunday left everyone with long faces, not wanted to leave My Back Porch. Without a doubt, we will return again. Kindest wishes, Amanda, Bruce, Shelby, Jordan, Jade and Beezus.
Owner response:Amanda, your beautiful note warmed my heart. I could picture you on the swing, and all of your family finding the quiet spots to relax and explore. i am so pleased that My Back Porch gave you the opportunity to renew yourself. It has the same effect on on us. It is truly rewarding for us as owners to know that others appreciate the "unique gift" of My Back Porch. Thanks you for your comments and hope to see you back soon, Pam

Our trip to My Back Porch was a wonderful experience. Though we were met with challenges from the icey mountain road called Wise Rd, we were very blessed with a very helpful neighbor. He had the perfect vehicle to transport all our food and luggage as well as us to the top where a beautiful cabin awaited! Pam and Bob are so thoughtful to share such a wonderful cabin with so many seeking rest and solitude. It sits at the highest point in the gated community and has 4 beautiful quiet acres. The cabin is beautifully decorated and not crammed with too much stuff. The furniture is quite comfortable and the dining table seats 8 and is roomy. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious. The fire in the fire place was so nice. We played in the snow and hung our mittens and shoes to dry by the roaring fire. We also, roasted marshmallows in the fire pit. We enjoyed the decks and watching the snow and then the rain, it was peaceful. We all had a great time and look very forward to returning in the summer to enjoy the summer activities in the area around Morganton. You should come and experience the cabin and just relax! Sincerely Loving It, Cyndi and All the Family
Owner response:Cyndi, I am pleased that you were able to experience the winter snow. I know you were hoping it would stay around for you! It's usually not a challenge to get to the cabin, but I guess that comes with the pleasures of the snow. We do have great neighbors in our little cabin community. I am glad you ran into one of them. Can't wait for your visit in the summer. I know you will enjoy the warm weather activities in the area! See you then, Pam

Our family spent our Christmas at the Back Porch. Everything was just perfect to the touch as described from stylish furniture to quality mattresses that you didn't want to get out of bed because you were so warm and snuggley. There was plenty to keep you busy by watching our favorite movies on the HD TV to playing pool or board games with the family. We even took long walks and a drive to many of the surrounding State Parks. The cabin was even decorated with Pam's Christmas touch which added a special feel to the holiday. What we appreciated the most was how everything was well-maintained and CLEAN. We had everything we needed from blankets for the cold weather to a well stocked kitchen for those nights we cooked. The cabin is located in a gated community yet far away enough from the hussle and bussle from the city. What our best memory of all was waking up to SNOW, us Floridians don't get a chance to see that very often and miss it from where we are originally from. We couldn't leave when we were supposed to check out (which I'm sure the other party was upset about) but unfortunately you can't control Mother Nature. We had such great support from neighbors being so concerned; we appreciated everyone's thoughtfulness in a time of need. Pam & Bob made sure that we were as comfortable as much as possible up until the time we were able to leave. We would highly recommend the Back Porch to anyone and know that you will not be disappointed for any reason. Thanks Bob and Pam, we had a memorable time!
Owner response:Toni, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. I wish we could take credit for the snow! I heard it was beautiful - close to 10 inches. Our neighbors all enjoyed meeting you and said what a nice family we had staying at the cabin. Come back soon, Pam and Bob

My friends (three couples) stayed at "My Back Porch" with our touring bikes. It is accessable to reach all the local scenic roads from this area. The step driveway was a challenge, which we made with no problem, however we could have parked them at the bottom if we wanted. Pam and Bob really have went the extra mile to make sure their guest feel at home while staying at their mountain cottage. Everything was top shelf. Thanks for making our stay so pleasant.
Owner response:Rusty, so glad you and your friends enjoyed your stay. You had great weather for bike riding! Come visit us again. Pam and Bob

We had a wonderful twelve day stay . The cabin is well appointed with all of the comforts of home and one of the nicest that we have rented. We used the fireplace on a couple of the colder days and it was so cozy. We could watch the sunrise from the screen porch and it was a nice place read in the afternoons. Our dog Max enjoyed the decking all around the cabin. He could stay outside without his leash and check out the new surroundings. Pam made our stay so enjoyable from the Fall decorations near the front door to her welcome note and e-mail. We visited all of the neighboring towns. We went as far at Jasper and Tate this year. Our trip to Burt's Farm was great. We went on Columbus Day and it was packed with families picking out their pumpkins. We bought several squash to share with friends at home. We spent a nice day at the Ellijay Apple Festival. There was a nice selection of vendors and we sampled some wonderful fried green tomatoes. Blue Ridge is our favorite with many nice shops and restaurants. We always enjoy the apple orchards. Mercier is our favorite with Panorama coming in second. I made applesauce and a couple of apple pies during our stay and we had our vehicle full of apples to take back home. My Back Porch has such nice landscaping all around the cabin and everything is neat and tidy outside. The roses were in full bloom near the hot tub. Pam and Bob really take pride in their cabin. This rental won't disappoint. It is in a gated community and the roads are good getting to the cabin.
Owner response:Lou and Linda, thank you so much for your kind comments. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. It sounds like you really took advantage of our mountain area. All the towns surrounding the cabin are great to visit, but you had the added bonus of Fall festivals and apple season and made the best of both! So glad it all worked for you (and Max!) Pam

We spent three heavenly days at the Back Porch. This cabin is appointed with only the best of everything. Beautiful furniture, and great king size beds. Extra large HD TV for those football games, and a pool table for after the game. A lovely fireplace tops off everything. Relaxing on the back deck with my morning cup of coffee, sitting in the overstuffed whicker furniture and watching the sunrise was my best memory. The cabin is located in a gated community, surrounded by the woods and even though there are neighbors around, you don't see them. It is cozy and warm with plenty of privacy. There is wonderful shopping in the local town, and plenty to do in the area. I would recommend this cabin to anyone. The owners Pam and Bob are wonderful people to work with and they do everything possible to make your visit memorable. Do yourself a favor and stay at My Back Porch, you won't be disappointed.
Owner response:So pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We love My Back Porch and love it when others enjoy it also. Thanks, Pam and Bob

Proof that reasonable pricing does NOT equate to less! Gated community, abundant wildlife, excellent location within easy commute of too many things to do and see in one stay, plus ambiance galore! A tremendous and very pleasant surprise was the quality mattresses and bedding. Think firm, yet lush thick pillowtops covered with soft, high-quality sheets, cozy psuedo-suede comforter and an assortment of pillows ranging from firm to nicely 'squishy'. My husband had to coax me daily, "Just let go of the bed, Hon, you CAN do it" : P While the mountain view is not "long range", it is fine and I found that being enfolded by trees and the enjoyment of visitation by deer, squirrels and songbirds too charming to consider exchanging. Our last morning there were two deer right on the other side of the terrace level window by the hot tub, we startled each other half to death, lol. It was neat to be in the very the very midst of a treetop bird and squirrel playground. I loved that there was verdant green shade and yet plenty of light, too. We spent mornings on the screened porch watching the sun rise over the mountains and enjoying a lazy cup of coffee while lounging on the cozy furniture. Then, come evening, we'd fire up the bbq on the front porch and watch sunset as dinner cooked. Perfect! I haven't watched television for 16 years, but my husband would turn on the food channel or discovery at night and it was hard to resist that crisp large screen! I learned about whales, parrots that can't fly, the secret behind great barbecue and that even hot dogs can be a form of art in the right hands, haha. There is a thoughtfully assembled 'manual' at the cabin providing information on area restaurants, attractions and recreation offerings, instructions on use of items in the cabin, etc. There was not one thing we wanted in the kitchen that we didn't find. The decor was tasteful; the theme is rustic and yet the emphasis is on quality. If I changed anything, it would be to add a price tag to the back of each piece so we could get our souvenirs on the spot, haha! Seriously, it seems as though tremendous thought and expense went into creating a beautiful vacation atmosphere and I thoroughly appreciate and enjoyed every bit of it - thank you so much for a great get-a-way!!

What a beautiful cabin! Words cannot describe. It was decorated for the Christmas season and was warm and inviting. It was like home away from home, except for the view from the back porch, how serene. This was a weekend getaway for couples so it was great for each couple to have their own bedroom AND bathroom. From the pool table to the hot tub out back, there was something to keep everyone occupied. I would definitely recommend this cabin. Thanks Pam. We enjoyed ourselves and you have a gorgeous place.

We spent the week after Christmas 2009 in this cabin, and rang in the 2010 New Year. We had two couples and our 19-year-old son. Believe me when I tell you that here in this wonderful cabin you will find something for everyone to enjoy, from the outdoor fire ring for marshmallow roasting, the downstairs pool table, the outdoor hot tub, the absolutely drop dead gorgeous interior decor, and of course the satellite TV and radio, wireless internet, and the list goes on and on. Please do not have any doubts when you consider a week stay in this lovely place. This cabin is well worth the money for comfort and convenience. Thank you Pam for a wonderful holiday experience.

We stayed in "My Back Porch" in early June, 2009 and had a wonderful vacation. It is in relaxing surroundings of scenic roads, many birds, and a deer in the back yard. It is near many state parks. We visited Vogel S.P., Amicola S.P., Unicoli S.P., and Meeks recreational park on Rt 515. The kids went white water rafting on the Ocoee River and had a great time. I would highly recommend this lovely home for your next vacation. I especially liked the screened porches off the bedroom. We hope to return next year.
