Washington, DC Southwest Quadrant including DC's Waterfront district is actually composed of four separate sections:
The Southwest Employment District, the area between the National Mall and the Southeast/Southwest Freeway (Interstate 395) that contains the Smithsonian museums along the south side of the Mall — including the Hirshhorn Museum, the National Air and Space Museum, the U.S. Holocaust Museum, and the Museum of the American Indian — as well as L'Enfant Plaza and a large concentration of federal office buildings for Executive Branch departments and the U.S. House of Representatives;
the Southwest Waterfront, between I-395 and the Potomac River, a residential neighborhood that is home to the Maine Ave Fish Market, Arena Stage, the Washington Marina, and Hains Point; East and West Potomac Park, a conjunction of two national parks between I-395 and the National Mall that contain the Tidal Basin, the Jefferson Memorial;
The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial (West Potomac Park continues into Northwest and includes the Lincoln Memorial and World War II Memorial, both of which straddle the Southwest/Northwest boundary); and the area south and east of the Anacostia River containing Bolling Air Force Base, the military installation which together with Naval District Washington, Naval Research Laboratory, and Blue Plains sewage treatment plant occupies all of the Southwest land between South Capitol Street (to the east) and the Anacostia River (to the west).
Testimonies:
Just letting you know we had a fantastic time in DC thanks to the central location of your place. Easy for the subway, grocery store and proximity to our conference at National Harbor. The computer area came in so handy just to keep in touch with email and print out tickets and such. We will rent from you again when in the area and appreciate yours and Jim's proffesionalism.
Thanks again for all of your help and for lending your place for us to enjoy!
Sincerely,
Rich and June

Hello,
We loved the home studio unit! It provided a beautiful view and was so convenient to the metro and even a grocery store. I was anxious about coming because I had never rented a home from the web. (We usually stay in hotels in D.C.) However, it was a rewarding experience. It was just what we needed. I never said anything before but our son passed away on November 13th. We needed to get away for Christmas, and your studio unit was a gift.
Thank You,
Judy

We had such a wonderful stay at this cozy condo. The pictures tell it all. It is fully equipped with all the amenities necessary, so just bring your clothes and you're set. It is neat, clean, and was it ever so nice to have a large flat screen TV and all the cable channels available. Also to have a computer and printer at our disposal was super. I also appreciated the washer and dryer within the apartment. and to have sheltered parking for such easy convenience. Everything was neat and clean and comfortable. Then we could walk to the nearby Safeway and CVS for all our shopping needs and to have the metro within 2 blocks was such a treat. The view of the Potomac and back yard with the park and quiet neighborhood was fantastic so we could take daily walks along the Potomac. The Arena theater was within walking distance also. All in all we really liked everything about the place for the 2 of us. We only minded the airplane noise we could hear, since the airport wasn't too far away, but all else was super...and we found it quite safe there which was another plus. We came to spend the holidays with our girls who live in DC and this was the perfect space for us.

This lovely studio was perfectly located in a residential area yet less than a 2-minute walk from the metro and from the supermarket. It had a gorgeous view of the backyard, was super super clean and offered all the amenities one could ever need! The shower was AMAZING, almost the best part of the whole place.It felt extremely safe and quiet! Loved it. Thank you Tina and Jim for a great place.

Since we were unfamiliar to Washington, DC, it was a wonderful surprise to find how easy it was to navigate from this VRBO to anywhere we wanted to go. The Metro is close by as is Safeway. Very convenient. The view of the Potomac from this unit was a very nice addition to our stay here. The bonus was the quietness allowing for a good night's sleep after long days seeing and experiencing DC.

This was our first trip to Washington, D.C. We stayed here for 2 weeks in September, 2011. It was exactly like the listing described and more. It was just the right size for two people and it was clean and comfortable. The view from the patio was great. Walking distance to the Safeway grocery store, CVS Pharmacy, Starbucks and a nice restaurant and the Metro (subway). The history river walkway was really nice and a short walk from river cruise boats and other nice restaurants and also a fresh fish market. There is also a really nice live theater in the round (The Arena) that has really great plays (saw Oklahoma). We used the Metro system to get around D.C. It was very convenient, clean and safe and we were able to go just about everywhere on it. The only draw back that we had was the noise from Reagan National Airport (planes taking off and landing) and the same thing with the helicopters from the Army Base but after 3 days we did not really notice the noise. We would recommend this rental and we stay again if in D.C. and the cost to rent it is a plus. Thank you for making our first trip to D.C. a memorable one!

"We stayed a full week in the fall of 2011 in this really nice, roomy studio that was all it was advertised to be and more. It was the only king bed we could find in the entire area and it was a full king with super view of huge flat screen TV. The personal computer with printer was all we used and kept the laptop in the case. Free local calls were a bonus. AC was more than adequate. Literally right out the back door was the Potomic with a walkway for sightseeing or jogging. We learned the Metro quickly and used it every day. We were just a few stops from the National Mall and the station was just a short two blocks up the street. We always felt totally safe walking to and from the Metro. A big safeway and CVS are right next to the Metro. There are 3-4 seafood restaurants within walking distance along the river.There are many high rise condos on every side of the unit and folks were always out walking dogs, heading to and from the Metro, and walking along the river. One caution is the shower. It is a fancy very neat shower in a small bath area. Anyone with balance problems, difficulty stepping up and down to a 20+ inch step should understand that it requires some strength and agility to get in and out of the shower. We are seniors and it was fine but we were extra careful. We would recommend this studio and this area of DC without reservation.”

This is a great find in Washington and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit DC. The listing description and photos were accurate, the studio was clean and well-maintained and the owner was very friendly, professional, helpful and accommodating. The place itself was perfect for my needs while in DC - close to so many things but also perfectly situated so that I felt like I was on vacation at the end of each day. The amenities the studio offers are fantastic (washer/dryer, full kitchen, extra towels and linens, internet) but it's the proximity to the metro and Safeway that make this my preferred place to stay when I'm in DC.
Owner response:Thanks for your wonderful comments and affirm to the public of the great find you experienced in DC. We hope to serve you again soon

This unit location, layout, and amenities were exactly as described/pictured; it was and smelled CLEAN. This was our second VacationRentals.com experience and it was perfect;exactly as advertised. Our ground level unit really did have a beautiful unobstructed view of the Channel and related activity. Our sense was that the immediate area was somewhat upscale and safe. We walked home around 10pm from our area Metro Station after a Kennedy Center evening performance. While the unit did have private parking at the unit, we enjoyed the entire DC experience without a car as the Metro Station was only two blocks away. We are not young (50+), nor in the best physical shape but the Metro/Safeway/CVS walk was easily doable. The owner/contact energetically welcomed us was available when/if we had questions regarding the unit. We would absolutely recommend this unit, and plan to stay there again.

We had a great time at the condo! Great neighborhood, within walking distance to the Metro and Grocery store. Only down fall is no restaurants close by. Nice to have the car port. We will stay again on our next trip to D.C.
