San Luis Obispo is the perfect Central California town, famous for its Thursday night Farmer's Market, great restaurants, creeks, historic downtown area and mission, with great shopping, a wonderful art center, Cal Poly Performing Arts Center, art movie house and 2 other movie complexes.
Unfortunately we are not renting from October 2009 to May 2009, but inquiries are welcome for dates after that.
A 10 minute drive to Cal Poly State University, wineries, and beaches. Thirty minutes from Hearst Castle and to California's last unspoiled coastal dune lagoon complex. There are numerous state parks, world class kayaking, bike riding, the Oceano Melodrama, The Clark Performing Arts Center in Arroyo Grande, one hour to Chumash casino, 20 minutes to natural hot springs and over 7 fine golf courses close by. Bird watching in SLO County is among the best in the nation with all species from ocean to high desert birds of the Carrizo Plains. Morro Bay, 15 minutes north is a Bird Sanctuary.
This house was featured in the San Luis Obispo Tribune in 2008 as a showcase home and as an example of how eco-friendly products can be used successfully in the luxury remodels. Our house is approximately 2,700 square feet with a new kitchen, 3 baths, located within a 15 minute walk to downtown San Luis Obispo, two minutes away from a beautiful "English Style Park" and adjacent to a major open space trail and hillside habitat. Our "Colorado Ski House" has a separate dining room, eat-in kitchen, living room with fireplace, loveseat, sofa with views of San Luis Mountain. The house has been tastefully decorated with art treasures from our various travels. The house feels very warm and comfortable with all the natural wood and fiber art/surfaces.
A secluded back patio is equipped with two outdoor tables, a Weber gas grill, sofa length porch glider, wicker chairs and a French market umbrella. It's easy to enjoy a relaxing BBQ or perhaps morning croissants on the deck surrounded by our beautiful gardens. You are welcome to pick your own limes/lemons and cut your own bouquets.
The master bedroom has a full bath, queen bed, TV and video corner. Upstairs bedroom has full size bed, private bath and a secret nook with upholstered chaise for a peaceful private retreat or as a reading corner. The third bedroom doubles as an office - Wi-Fi internet is available. A Swedish sofa makes into an extremely comfortable firm bed with memory foam topper. We provide the upscale "Company Store" bedding for our guests, and a washer/dryer is available for your use while at the house.
Our home works for couples seeking a weekend trip to the area for sightseeing/wine tasting or just to enjoy the many amenities and great year round weather San Luis Obispo offers, or would serve equally well for a small family's vacation home base to explore the region.

San Luis Obispo has so much to offer - a culturally vibrant downtown a short walk away. Then we especially enjoy bird watching and hiking at the many nature preserves nearby. We can kayak in Shell Beach and Morro Bay.

You look out the windows and there are mountains and a serene landscape; you can sit on the patio for lunch and watch the birds come to the fountain. You can walk to three of the best restaurants in SLO - Cafe Roma, The Park and The Club Car. You are 10 to 15 minutes to beaches, vineyards, state parks and so much more.

Our home reflects our love of life and nature. we like walking downtown in the evenings to go to the art movie house and then for coffee at Linnaeas. We love the quiet of our neighborhood and the beautiful park around the corner. I am a retired lawyer working in fundraising and my husband is a retired physician. We wouldn't live anywhere else.
