1924 Edwardian Flat on the Castro with View
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
The building is a totally restored 1924 Edwardian, right on the Castro, within one block of the start of the business district. The flat is like our second home. Entry to the building is through the marble foyer. It is a non-smoking unit. Every amenity needed for a pleasant stay in the City has been provided. The flat is truly spectacular with a view of the Castro from both the formal dining room and the separate front room. The warmth of a working fireplace, against the lights of the Castro provide a romantic and satisfying end to the day. The principal warmth of the flat is by forced air heating--it will be cozy and warm no matter the wind or the fog.
Although on the Castro, quiet is the norm as the flat is on the second floor with the new double paned windows and the bedroom located in the middle of the flat, away from traffic and lights. The hardwood floors are beautiful, with just the right number of area rugs for the warmth against the San Francisco cold.
The kitchen is as modern as it gets with every conceivable appliance to make life easy. The kitchen is state of the art. All appliances are top of the line: granite top counters; self grinding Cuisnart coffee machine; microwave, dishwasher, 5-burner self cleaning stove, French coffee press, etc.
The bathroom has a very deep old cast iron tub. Everything else is brand new. The tiled floor, walls to the ceiling and granite top is enchanting.
High speed internet; LCD TV; phone with answering machine; Gateway computer with media center; VCR/DVD with loads of movies, all at your fingertips. When you want air, simply head down to the back yard with its teak table in a lovely landscaped yard.
When it is time to explore the City, the Castro is the best for public transportation with its Muni station five minutes away and its myriad of buses taking you to the Haight, Golden Gate Park...cabs are a breeze. Leaving the flat, a hard decision it will be.

We stayed 5 days at this very charming apt. The location was fantastic, close to transportation, restaurants, shops. The owner was wonderful to deal with--thoughtful in so many ways, and with so many excellent suggestions. The apartment is very spacious and clean, with unique artwork, and terrific furnishings. The kitchen is very well stocked and easy to work in if you choose to, and the dining room is great to enjoy a meal in. Bed was comfortable... I only have positive things to say about this place. It was a nice place to return to after a busy day out. I would return in a heartbeat !Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This Flat is exactly as described and as shown in the photos. It is warm and cozy with all the comforts of home. The owner is meticulous in keeping the unit clean, well maintained and fully stocked. Steve goes out of his way to make certain his guest's needs are met but also is very respectful of privacy. The neighbors are quiet. The location is could not be better and is within easy walking distance to public transit, markets, and many outstanding restaurants. The fully equipped kitchen and working fireplace make it ideal for spending relaxing evenings just enjoying the flat. I spent 10-nights and felt very much at home. I look forward to returning and will definitely recommend to others. Thank you Steve and Ellen! A+Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I booked this apartment for my UK family to use as a base whilst visiting me here in the Castro, and both they and I were absolutely thrilled with it! The location is perfect: close enough to Castro MUNI station to be able to zip to any part of the city in minutes, but also far up enough Castro Street to be peaceful and quiet. The flat itself was spotless, comfortable and beautifully decorated, as well as being *incredibly* well stocked with food and provisions - which, coming off a 14-hour flight, my family were hugely appreciative of. I wouldn't hesitate to book Steve's apartment for any future visits by family or friends, and my own family are already planning their return visit!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Having just returned home to Reno from Steve's "European Apartment"...that is what it reminded me of...an upscale art collector's Paris pad...I am already planning my next visit to this amazing apartment! The other reviews say it all...close to all transit, in a neighborhood that has it all, amazingly quiet and private for being on Castro, a warm welcoming host who provides it ALL for our enjoyment...all I can add is that the bedroom is so quiet and secluded and private that you can sleep in to your hearts content...you won't hear a soul in the rest of the building...REALLY! I found a "hidden garden" at the bottom of the back porch stairs! The sun peeked in and I relaxed on a chair with a book as the moist Bay air relieved my dry desert sinuses! Thank you, Steve, for all that you provide.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Centrally located on Castro Street this cozy apartment offers many luxuries, not often found in SF rentals in this price range, including parking, laundry, and a remodeled, modern kitchen and bath. A fully stocked kitchen was an unexpected bonus! Walk to all that Castro has to offer, or take a short car/bus ride to Noe Valley or Haight Ashbury. Getting downtown was a snap on Metro which has a station on Castro at Market. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed for a week in May. It was truly like staying at a friends home. The location was perfect - one block from 19th and Castro, easy walking distance to all of the Castro, Delores Park, the Mission District, and public transportation. The flat was clean and filled with art and all the comforts of home. Steve took great pains to stock the flat with vegan food (per our stated preference) for us and even made a vat of pasta to welcome us to San Francisco. He stayed well in touch with tips and helpful advice. I would (and have) highly recommended it to our friends. The bed in the bedroom was deliciously comfortable and the rollaway bed was better than my bed at home. He filled the apartment with snacks for us. It was truly a magical experience.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

I've just stayed, for the second time, at this Castro flat. The larder was stocked with wonderful treats, the apartment is comfortable and spacious, the landlord is wonderfully flexible and fair. Rental includes parking----which is a huge plus in that neighborhood. Can't wait for my next visit there; I wouldn't stay anywhere else!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My son and I stayed here on a visit to the city. It was clean and comfortable. We were close to everything, with a short walk to the Muni station to go downtown or anywhere in the city. The parking in the garage was wonderful. The neighborhood was safe and clean. I have recommended this to many of my friends.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.
