beautiful spacious house. we had a wonderful time... about a 1/2 mile walk to catch the island explorer shuttle buses at the Acadia headquarters (buses run about every hour on that road)... about a mile walk to the Eagle lake carriage trails... cell coverage is a little spotty once you get out of Bar Harbor proper. owner and rental agent provided great customer service, very attentive and responsive. Carriage trails were a beautiful place to run. We did a family rock climb with Atlantic Climbing and had a fabulous experience. we hiked the south bubble and then Pemetic mountain. the shops downtown were very nice. bought lobster at Parsons. had a nice dinner at the Thirsty whale, and Side street cafe, had a nice lunch/snack at the Cottage street bakery, no waiting and really good spicy shrimp and corn chowder. in fact we were very surprised not to have a wait to be seated for dinner anywhere we went. took a cruise on the Margaret Todd, nice experience even though it rained, saw some harbor porpoises. stopped for ice cream twice at Ben and Bill's chocolate emporium (the black raspberry with oreo cookies and the chocolate with coconut and almond was to die for). we took the island buses to visit sand beach and thunder hole as well as a trek out to the oceanarium to see the lobster hatchery. buses make traveling convenient even with the hike up the road to catch them. bus drivers were amazingly friendly and accommodating. the blueberry salsa we purchased at the blueberry patch store was amazing.
