Good choice!

We stayed here for 10 days. We are walkers and found it was easy to walk to the Vatican,Forum,Colosseum,Palatine Hill,Trevi Fountain and the upscale shopping district. Spend many hours walking along the Tiber. The open air market was the best place to buy food in the area.We truly appreciated that it was a no smoking apartment - what a relief to get off the streets after a day of breathing exhaust fumes and cigarette smoke. Mr Cristiano picked us up from the airport and returned us at the end of our stay. He also drove around the neighborhood on the first day pointing out the markets and restaurants. Such a great help!

Comfortable apartment conveniently located.

Date of Stay: 04/06/12 Review Submitted: 04/13/12

Comfortable apartment in a quite neighborhood of Rome yet close to all touristic attractions. We spent 7 nights with 2 children (10 & 11)- maximum capacity for the size of the apartment. Cleaned, well furnished, though pictures and description provided in the advertisement are a little bit overstated and certainly not a luxury apartment as mentioned in the title(comparable to a 3-star hotel room based on quality of linen, towels, furnishing, etc). Fitting and equipment of the apartment are of good quality but nothing remarkable as stated. Shower is of normal size, and water only warm, never hot, Wifi is unstable, and you frequently get disconnected and have to reset router. There is no microwave. Overall, we had a good stay and it was always nice to come back 'home' after busy days touring Rome. Will rate it between 3.0 - 3.5 ( rented many apartments in the past through VRBO and this one is not a 5-star, and spend on average 80 nights a year in hotels/away from home and this is not a 5-star but rather a 3.0-3.5).

Owner response:Unfortunately you have not advised me to have this problem with hot water and wifi. If you called me or you wrote me an e mail I would have solved all the problems in 5 minutes. I always do my best to make my guests happy. ....I have not described my apartment as a 5 star and looking at the pictures you can see exactly what to expect. All my customers were always satisfied and happy with the apartment and I am happy for this.

The Best Apartment we've stayed!

Guest: SG family (Singapore)
Date of Stay: 12/03/11 Review Submitted: 12/18/11

We had an extremely comfortable 3-night stay at Varuska's apartment. It is very clean, bright and well maintained. We could tell that she has put in much effort in the furnishings and decorating her apartment with good taste. It looks new, and the space is just right for our family of 5. We could dine in comfort. Wifi works very well too. There is a security guard during the day and in the night, the main gate to the building is locked with access to residents only. In the vincinity, there are some nice pizzerias, trattorias and even Chinese restaurants for affordable dining and takeaways. Veruska was always very prompt and helpful and we feel very comfortable and reassured dealing with her throughtout. She also offered a maxivan for our arrival from Termini and departure at FCO which was reliable and convenient. Overall, we felt lucky to have chanced upon this gem as we are new to staying in vrbo apartments. It is the best of the 3 we've stayed in. Thank you, Veruska!

My husband and I stayed here for 5 days in june 2011 while honeymooning in Rome. It was one of the best vacation experiences we have ever had. We loved everything about this home-away-from-home. Veruska made the arrangements for the airport pick-up, which we really appreciated specially after a very long trip and a very lengthy process going thru customs in the Fiumicino Airport (20 flights altogether). We are really glad we opted to stay in a private property rather than a hotel - we were so comfortable - far more so that we would have been in a room in a hotel. Veruska the owner was lovely and provided us with lots of information about Rome and recommendations of where to eat locally. There are plenty of good restaurants, Charming Osterias, bars, bakers shops for our bread and croissants. Only a couple of blocks away, there is a colorful square which is also a large open market and every morning can be found fine food, fresh produce, fruit, vegetables, wine, cheese and wonderful bread. The location was great and We really enjoyed our stay. Just steps from Coliseum, the Forums, Venezia square and Trastevere. Everything in the apartment was absolutely perfect, we felt right at home - it was Spotlessly clean, Thoughtfully furnished with nice art, a fully stocked kitchen, free WI-FI internet, books... Towels & linens were plentiful and clean. It was very peaceful at night. We recommend this apartment highly and can't wait until our next visit.

Perfect home in Rome

We have just returned from a wonderful family holiday in Italy (2 Adults & 2 Children). Our holiday started with a "last minute" booking with Veruska for the apartment for our first few days in Rome so we were a bit nervous renting a property in a strange city. We couldn't have been more pleased! The apartment was light, quiet, decorated with excellent taste, spotlessly clean and it was also great to have free Wi-Fi internet. The bed was very comfortable and there were spacious wardrobes in the bedroom. The kitchen was modern and convenient, and the wash machine was an added bonus. It was a joy to return to our "home" each evening! The location was fabulous, close to the Colosseum, Imperial Roman Forum, the Mouth of Truth at Santa Maria in Cosmedin, subway station, bus stop, which was a helpful time saver. The photos are accurate. This apartment was lovely and I have already recommended it to friends. Perfect for couples or families with kids. We hope we can return someday! Thank you Veruska!

Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay in this apartment! Everything was truly perfect! From the moment we arrived at the airport until we departed and everything in between was superb - we could not have asked for a more fabulous vacation. The apartment was incredibly convenient, well-equipped and comfortable. An Excellent accommodation choice for family of 4". We were very pleased with our decision to rent this apartment in Rome. We liked our location. It was in a lovely neighborhood. It was quiet and private and easily accessible to the sites, restaurants and transportation. The information sent by the owner prior to our visit was amazing and so helpful. We had a contact to pre-arrange a car service from the airport, and a greeter to meet us upon our arrival and to orient us to the building and apartment. The apartment was comfortable for our needs and so much better than a hotel room. Great for the independent traveler with a map and a guide book. Our trip to Rome was everything we hoped it would be. It was great to be able to come back to the apartment for a rest and snack before we headed out for more adventures. We can't thank you enough for your part in making our trip so enjoyable.

Great Location, Great Apartment, and Great Owner

What a wonderful place to call home for our 6 days in Rome. The apartment was cosy and had all we needed (toilet paper, dish soap, other necessities). After our apartment in Florence, which offered a single saucepan as its cooking supplies, I was thrilled to find a really well-stocked kitchen with plenty of plates, pots, pans, and also staples, like olive oil and salt. The location is great and you can walk to anywhere you want. Nearly everything you want to see in Rome is within easy walking distance: the Colosseum, Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, all just minutes away. The apartment is located in a comfortable, extremely safe neighborhood populated with cafes, restaurants and shops. The owner was very helpful in any way we needed and let us store our luggage all day on Sunday. I would recommend this apartment to anyone, and will make every effort to stay there again when I return to the magical world of Rome. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

We spent 5 days of May here and what a great place to spend time in a very nice area of Rome. Veruska was very helpful . .The apartment is very Clean, well appointed, and well equipped with WiFi internet and washing machine. Comfortable and a great location with great transportation connections, lots of shops, cafe's. restaurants, and some of the best gelato in Italy. The kitchen was well supplied and the air conditioning was a blessing . Towels & linens were plentiful and clean. We had a wonderful time exploring the most frequented areas of Rome and returning to "our own Roman home" to relax and plan our next day's adventure. Since we like to cook, selecting fresh local ingredients from the local markets provided us with a true taste of Rome. The supermarket that is close by provided us with good inexpensive wine. There are so many places to explore in Rome that it is impossible to mention all of them. Within steps of the condo is the Colosseum, the Forums, Victor Emanual monument Campidoglio (Capitoline Hill) Campo dei Fiori, Venezia square and all the major historical sites.Thank you Veruska for providing us with such a nice place to stay. We would stay here again!

My husband and I have rented apartments in Europe for our annual vacations for the past 20 years, including a previous visit to Rome. This apartment ranks as one of the most beautiful, well-located, and nicely furnished. The owner could not have been better as we corresponded prior to our visit. Everything was clean and in perfect order when we arrived. We felt right at home from the moment we arrived. Every amenity is provided including everything you need to cook wonderful meals. The wifi worked great on our Mac. It is a short walk to the train station. You can access all the sights easily, then come home to a relaxing oasis. We would walk to the supermarket in the morning to get our supplies (the little shopping basket on wheels was perfect!) - we found a bakers shop for our bread and croissants and my husband delighted in the small cake shop where he would buy a different cake for us to try every day! I highly recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to experience what it really is like to live in Rome!

Our first time in Rome using VRBO

Our first time in Rome using VRBO, and we couldn't have had a better experience! Veruska was great with communicating prior to our trip, and flexible to our arrival time. We instantly fell in love with the neighborhood and the condo itself - so much better than a hotel. We felt very much part of the local neighborhood; the house is incredibly quiet but you're right in city center and the main tourist spots are all very easily walkable, It's just a short walk to Colosseum, Roman Forum, Venezia square, Campo dei Fiori. After the hustle and bustle of busy Rome, coming "home" each day to this property was one of the best parts of our trip. It was close to walk to all the sites, but far enough to feel that we really got to be a part of Rome as a resident and not just a tourist. This is a wonderful house in a fabulous location. We stayed at the house as a family of four with two kids (8 and 11); it was very comfortable for a week. The house is equipped with everything -- the kitchen has every utensil you could imagine, there are all the sheets, blankets, towels, etc. you could ever want. It was spotlessly clean when we stayed. It was also great to have Wi-fi internet and a washing machine. Although we ate out some, we also shopped at the local markets and had some wonderful meals! Veruska is a great host, and the neighbors are friendly too. If you go, be sure to visit Remo for the best pizza and Volpetti ! Both are 2 minutes from the house. This house is a great base for exploring Rome and not feeling like a tourist! We were able to get a true feel for the way of life of the local people. We very much hope to return again soon - many thanks once again.

Too Good To Be True?

We visit Rome several times (staying in hotels and apartments) but this is the best place we have stayed. This property is safe, clean, bright and efficient. It is located off the street so you have privacy and peace which one needs after the busyness of Rome. The apartment was everything that was advertised and we enjoyed coming back to it every evening after a long day sightseeing. The owner was extremely helpful and acommodating and provided us with lots of information about Rome and recommendations of where to eat locally. The building has primarily full time residents and well maintained. During the day, a security guard is present by the front gate. It's a fun neighborhood to explore: there are many beautiful churches nearby, there's lots of exceptional restaurants, grocery store, butcher shop, fruit seller, bakeries, pizza and stores within walking distance. Only a couple of blocks away, there is a very colorful square which is also a large in-door market, Rome's most picturesque market and its most historical, according to my Travel Guide. This place has been a market for many centuries. Every morning can be found an array of stalls selling fruit, vegetables, cheese and cured meat, magnificent bread and whatnot (clothes, kitchen utensils), and dried fruits and beans. There are plenty of good bars and restaurants around for a quick bite if you get hungry. Also, there are some really nice and different shops around the piazza. Gastronomia Volpetti, close the property, is one of the place where you can buy everything from pizza and sandwiches to some of Italy's best cheese and meats. It's an amazing and crowded place--but there's plenty of high-quality help on hand to guide you. Since the apartment is located in the heart of Rome, staying here provides you with very easy accessibility to all the major tourist attractions throughout Rome. Definitely would use this apartment again if we ever returned to this beautiful city. We had a wonderful time!

My friend and I rented this apartment in late March of 2011, we loved it. We could not have been more pleased with our accommodations! We especially liked living among the Roman people instead of a hotel. The apartment was spotlessly clean, comfortable, quiet and had everything we needed. The caretaker was very nice and showed us around the apartment. There are several good places to eat just out the door. We went to the market many mornings and bought the amazing fresh produce and wonderful fish or meats there. One of the vendors had delicious fresh pasta and cheeses. We had to laugh when the espresso vendor would put a heart on top of our morning coffee.. The grocery story is a quick/easy walk and has everything you need. This is a great base location to explore and enjoy Rome. Our vacation in Rome was very memorable and I will be telling the stories for years. We would HIGHLY recommend staying here!!

Exactly What We Had Hoped For

We visited Rome the last week in March. This property was everything it was purported to be. Clean and nicely furnished, we spent little time there, but it was great to return to a comfortable place at the end of the day. The central location allowed us to walk to so many major sites in Rome, and the bus stop just in front allowed us quick travel to many areas of the city. It was easy to reach from the train station by taking the metro. An internet cafe just 2 blocks away enable us to stay in touch, and an amazing family owned pizza place around the corner provided a perfect last night experience.

Place to lay your head

Guest: D.J. (North Carolina, USA)
Date of Stay: 02/02/11 Review Submitted: 03/06/11

This apartment is in a convenient location, and the rent seems reasonable because of that fact. It is sheltered from the busy streets by a gate and courtyard. Spending weeks on the road living out of a single backpack, one tends to value things like a washer and dryer and a well-equipped kitchen, which is why we rented apartments instead of staying at hostels or hotels. This apartment did not have those. We tried the washer the first day, and it left our clothes dripping wet, but nowhere near clean. I have raised six kids, and know how to run a washing machine. This one did not work. The washer in the apartment upstairs worked fine, though, and ran all night, every night. Fortunately, there was a laundromat just down the street where we took our clothes. I do not believe she should advertise a washer, when it really is not functional. The internet worked fine, which was great because we were blogging every day. There is a market just a couple of blocks away that has essentials and magnificent bread. There were plenty of towels and blankets, and the bed was comfortable. The couch did not seem very clean, though, so we kept it covered with a blanket. The "breakfast essentials" offered in the kitchen consisted of other renter's left overs from what I could tell. There was a rusty can of soup, some olive oil, and some seasonings. There was a stove, and small fridge, but no oven or dishwasher. This is all fine, as long as the website does not claim it is a "luxury" apartment. My two sons and I recently stayed at six VRBO sites throughout Europe. Given the experiences we had in the other VRBOs, this flat could rate higher if it got a thorough cleaning, some of the clutter from previous guests was removed, there was a functional washing machine, and maybe a kettle, coffee pot, or microwave in the kitchen. It is a safe place to shower and rest after a busy day of seeing the magnificent sites in Rome, but the claims on the website should be revised. The owner responded quickly to our emails, and we were glad we used the cab company she suggested the early morning of our departure. Again, it is in a good location, and has hot showers, internet, and is a safe place to sleep and grab a sandwich. If that is what you are expecting, you won't be disappointed.

Owner response:I work with this apartment from 10 years and I never had such problems with anyone. I am delighted to be able to offer a comfortable and beautiful ambiance to my guests. Every amenity and comfort is well thought out and we make sure that the apartment is clean and in excellent condition at all times. Unfortunately, almost all of the content of this review is untrue and distorted. ON THE DESCRIPTION OF MY APPARTMENT I NEVER HAVE WROTE THAT THERE is A DRIER AND A DISHWASHER INSIDE THE PROPERTY. In the apartment there is a new washing machine and it works perfectly. We buy before each check in all that is needed for the breakfast and there is nothing in the apartment left by other guests. Upon check in I realized that this person had some personal problems and this probably led her to see it all so distorted and unsatisfactory. Unfortunately there are people, as in this case, who are never satisfied with what they do and with what they have.

AFFORDABLE, SAFE, & QUIET PRIME LOCATION FOR EXPLORING ROME WITH FAMILY - THANKS VERUSKA!!!

Guest: THREE TEENS' MOM (Hartland, WI USA)
Date of Stay: 12/22/10 Review Submitted: 01/16/11

Spent Christmas and New Year's in Rome Dec. 22, 2010-Jan. 1, 2011. With three teenagers, my husband & I searched hard & long for an affordable, safe apartment within walking distance of any/all sites. This lovely apartment is in Testaccio, a section of Rome that seems less inhabited by tourists than other sections we visited - to our delight. Across the street are several local bus lines to take you to any of the great sites. Visit atac.roma.it/ to plan bus travel. Buy your bigliette (bus pass) at the Tabacheria (tobacco store) a few steps to the left of the gate. Get your cappuchino next door to that. Open market, grocery store, fruit seller, butcher shop, bakeries, pizza, fine food, laundromat, Metro, churches all within a few (under 10) blocks. Enter a gate from the sidewalk to find a garden oasis at the center of several apartment complexes, none of which holds more than 6? apartments. This one's on the first floor of complex 5. In addition to the gate (locked after dark), there are locked doors for both the complex and the apartment. During the day, a security guard is present by the front gate. Coming back here at the end of a long day brought an instant sense of peace. The description on this site is accurate. Photos could have been taken the day we walked in the door. It IS a small apartment if you have 5 people. It would be just right for 2-3 people. However, we would stay here again with as many as 6 adults. Open luggage and beds rolled out do limit the walkable space. We didn't mind at all. We were there to sleep, shower, grab a bite to eat, and go. Having the kitchen was fantastic. All the basics are there: cookware, flatware, plates, etc. plus food staples. We cooked a couple meals and appreciated having a refrigerator to store our delicious leftovers from nearby restaurants. Independent heating for the apartment assured a very comfortable stay. Beds were better than we'd expected. Everyone was pleased. Shower had good, steady spray. Occassionally the temp would fluctuate mid-shower - nothing to complain about. Towels & linens were plentiful and clean. Entire apartment was nearly spotless. It is an older building and this is evident. Nothing to deter us from staying in the future. If you are looking for high-end hotel accommodations, this would not be it. This rental is fresh, vibrant, lived in, & time tested. We could walk to everything. Used Veruska's recommended driver service to/from FCO & glad we did. Rome's AMAZING - get here!

Excellent location, very comfortable apartment

Our family (2 adults, 3 kids) recently spent 4 nights in this apartment. The location is excellent - very convenient to public transportatino (the bus is across the street), and you can get everywhere very quickly. The best pizza is around the corner (Remo!! How do they make it so thin). The apartment is very comfortable, but I would not call it "luxury". The bathroom is rather small, and if you're using the convertible bed, it pretty much takes up the entire living room. However, if you're runing around all day, this doesn't matter much. I would say this apartment is perfect for a couple with 1 child. The true highlight of our family trip to Rome was the tour of Rome by bike, offered by TOP BIKE RENTAL. I can not recommend it enough!

We spent a month in Italy this year and the highlight was the time we spent in this beautiful apartment in Rome. The location is GREAT! We really enjoyed the neighborhood and couldn't wait to return after a day of touring the other historic sites. You will find easy access to local open air markets, cafes, bakeries, grocery stores and restaurants, plus you can walk to anywhere in Rome. We were enchanted with the apartment decor. The accommodations are wonderful and the rooms are clean and welcoming. The bed was incredibly comfortable (loved the linen sheets) and there was not a sound through the night! There was no noise from the street. The wifi worked great on our Mac. The apartment had a lot of touches that made it feel like we were staying in a friend's home. We feel lucky to have found this place and hope to visit again some day. Thank you for helping us create a wonderful family memory.

We spent a week visiting this fascinating city of Rome and stayed in this lovely apartment that was in a great location for restaurants, sightseeing, buses, shops, and local events. It was warm and comfortable, had everything we needed, was spacious, and modern. The bed was wonderful and the complex was very quiet, so we could get a good night's sleep after touring all day long. The building is very secure and the apartment is beautiful. We would definitely recommend it to our friends, and we hope to stay here again when we return to Rome. The owner was very helpful in any way we needed.

First time in Rome

This was our first time to Rome and the first time we rented an apartment while traveling. The experience was great. The apartment was perfect for us (two adults + one 15yr old); it is well maintained in a safe neighborhood. We walked a lot and sometimes late at night. The area felt very safe. Also, the apartment is right off the river which makes for a nice walk on a sunny day. You can walk to a lot of the sites from the apartment. The Pyramid train station is a couple of blocks away and the bus stop across the street took us everywhere. The bus system in Rome is better than we have here in NY. The market, only a couple of blocks away, is a gem for fresh produce and the bar outside serves the best caffe latte in Rome. We have already recommended the apartment to friends and we'll stay here when we return to Rome.

We loved our Rome apartment. I think my favorite part was the "Snack Bar" next door. Once I learned how to order coffee, it was awesome. The oranges and pastries were a real treat. We loved the location. We, too, used the pyramid station, which made it very easy to get around. We also walked to the Colosseum. I highly recommend this great apartment. I will add that there was plenty of room for two adults, two kids, and one baby!
