BUFFALO BUNKHOUSE
Lake Santeetlah
Robbinsville, NC
Very Cool and Reasonably Priced - FALL COLORS THROUGH NOVEMBER!
This great little bunkhouse sits directly across from the shores of Lake Santeetlah. Visitors here will enjoy a lake and mountain view and a dock for their private use. Boats may be rented at Santeetlah Marina which is in close proximity - or trailer your own.
The bunkhouse has limited common living space and is geared for folks who will spend their time enjoying all that the area has to offer. It is a great spot to chill after a day on the water or hiking the area.
There are lots of nearby trails or head down the road to Joyce Kilmer to see one of the oldest growth forests in the east. A simple walk around the lake at East Buffalo is a good workout. A couple of cruiser bicycles are available upon your request.
There are two sets of cozy bunk beds per bedroom which will hearken to the camper in you.
For entertaining all, there is a good supply of board games and a large handmade dining table to accommodate everyone. There is a DVD player, stereo with IPOD plug in and in/out speakers. No TV/no phone for your maximum enjoyment!
The kitchen is simple, but a great spot to prepare a delicious meal with fresh fruits and vegetables from Stoney Hollow Farm just up the road. In addition to the balcony, there is an outdoor area for grilling and campfire chats.
If you are a kayaker or rafter... the area boasts the Nantahala a little way down the road and the Cheoah for Class IV and V literally a hop, skip, and jump. If you are a bicyclist, Tsali can't be beat. Or check in to see what challenges Nantahala Outdoor Center is offering.
Did we mention this place is low-key?
If you need to hit the road, may we recommend the challenging Tail of the Dragon or Cherohala Skyway which heads into Tennessee and challenges the Blue Ridge Parkway with every vista.
Want to take a craft class or some evening entertainment? Check out Stecoah or even John C. Campbell in Brasstown.
The number one reason to visit the bunkhouse is the incomparably beautiful Lake Santeetlah. Surrounded by Nantahala National Forest, Santeetlah offers calm. And great fishing, year round!
