Westport Island is a classic rural community set along Maine's Coast. Separated from the mainland by a high bridge, it offers seclusion from a hectic world.
The house is situated on the western shore, and provides wonderful sunset views from the comfortable deck, the shelter of the four season sunroom, and from many of the other rooms in the open floor plan. The lot is nicely landscaped, and affords opportunities to see many of Maine's native wildlife, including deer, osprey, eagles, and heron.
Westport Island is perfectly located for exploring the region on day excursions. Within a few minutes drive is the Town of Wiscasset, with ample antique dealers and small shops, historical homes, dining opportunities and essentials like groceries and a fully-stocked hardware store. Just to the south is the historic city of Bath, known as the City of Ships, with a nice main street for shopping/strolling and a first-class maritime museum. Just north on US Route One lies Boothbay Harbor, Camden, and Rockland, all unique and full of things to explore.
Approximately 2.5 hours north is Acadia National Park.
