Our Mountain Home, that we have named WilderNest, has the feel of a mountain cabin, but is much more than a cabin! It is filled with tasteful, comfortable furnishings. Having owned an art/home decorating gallery in Estes Park for 25 years, we have decorated the home with some of the work we showed there. The roomy Kitchen is fully equipped with full sized refrigerator, stove top and oven, dishwasher, almost anything you need - mixer, wok, crock pot, Foreman grill, coffee pot, toaster, blender, even a breadmaker, in addition to those items listed below.

There are two separate Living Room/Family Room areas. The Living Room with its woodburning fireplace, and the Family Room with its BlazeKing woodstove are great for those cool mountain evenings. The couch in the Living Room is new, comfortable and beautiful with pine log accents.

The Family Room with its terrazo tile floor is a cozy inviting place to relax in. A five foot beautiful stained glass window depicting a lovely mountain scene fills one of the windows. It also has a Queen-sized hide-a-bed for extra sleeping space.

The Master Bedroom has a very comfortable king sized bed with its own Bathroom. The Second Bedroom has two Twin Beds and a second Full Bath off the hall.

Kick back and enjoy a cup of coffee on the Deck, accessed from either the Living Room or the Kitchen, as you watch a gorgeous sunrise dawning over the mountains. The deer and elk often choose this time of day to amble through the yard. This is truly a place you can come and retreat from the "busyness" of the outside world.

We provide a growing collection of videos, CD's, books and games. A selection of Mountain Interest books and local information is available. We have furnished lots of extras to make your vacation comfy and safe--coolers, first aid kit, flash light, fire extinguisher, etc.

We are about five miles from downtown Estes Park so you can experience the peace and serenity that we and our neighbors enjoy but when you are ready to hit the shops, galleries, restaurants, and fun stuff you are only a few minutes drive into town.

Rocky Mountain National Park is about a 15 minutes drive to some of the greatest hiking trails, picnic areas, and scenic beauty you can imagine. The quiet starry nights are something to behold, no light pollution to block out the views of the stars.

We have gone to great effort to care for and furnish our mountain home and we want our guests to feel welcome and comfortable and enjoy it as we do. We are proud to provide a clean and SMOKE-FREE environment for our guests so our home is NO SMOKING, either inside or outside, and NO PETS are allowed.

  • This was our first VRBO experience and this house set the bar high for future experiences. The house is everything we expected it to be and more. The pictures displayed in the listing are exactly as we found it. The owners take great pride in their property. The house was immaculate. We were greeted with home baked bread and a basket of goodies upon arrival. We spent many days hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Coming home each day to a quiet neighborhood and the peaceful, comfortable surroundings was just what a vacation should be. Everything we could have needed was provided. There was a large collection of books and videos,hiking guides, bird guides (we used that one a lot!), games and Hummingbirds galore. WilderNest was our home away from home for a week and we would return in a heartbeat.

  • The owners of this house will do everything they can to make your stay special. Warm bread with real butter and a goodie basket were waiting for us when we arrived. The house is immaculately clean. There are two bedrooms, a family room with a wood burning stove, a living room with a fireplace, two bathrooms and a large kitchen with everything you can imagine. The location is great, just a few miles from downtown Estes Park. There is a nice view from the back of the property of the continental divide. A nice deck is located at the front of the house. This house is in a nice, quiet residential area. There is a washer and dryer available for your use and a gas grill. There could not be nicer people renting out a vacation rental anywhere in Estes Park. We would highly recommend this place to everyone. I don't think I have ever seen a cleaner house. They have two television sets and a library of tapes for you to watch. Books are also available. Actually I can't imagine that you would need anything that they have not thought of already. You get a lot of space for the money. This place was perfect.

    October 7-13, 2007 Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home. It was very comfortable and cozy. Shane (5) and Bethany (2 1/2) said it was "huge"and "beautiful". They loved their own beds and room. We had wonderful weather for hiking in RMNP, sunny, little wind and in the 60's. We enjoyed the elk each evening. Thank you again for the hospitality. Maybe we'll be back next fall?

    September 26th-October 5th, 2007 We have had a wonderful time here! We have felt very comfortable and we really appreciated the fully equipped kitchen, including the Breadmaker. We have spent our days exploring the park: walking, birdwatching and taking photos. We also spent time on the deck watching the Mule Deer, Pygmy Nuthatches,Crows, magpies and Stellars Jays. The first Brits in the book!!

What a wonderful time we've had here in Estes Park--this was our 1st time ever to rent a vacation home and you have set the bar very high for our future triips! We've been going nonstop during the day (even with 2 little ones) and WilderNest provided a very comfortable place for us to collapse. We enjoyed our hikes around Bear Lake and to Alberta Falls. Thanks again for the lovely accommodations and the hospitality. I am sure we will be back again!

  • We Really enjoyed our stay last week. Unfortunately, our stay was cut short due to the illness of one of us. It was a pleasant change to be staying in a home. We hope to return soon. Everything was wonderful! Thanks!!
