Just a 5 minute drive to the base of the mountain is a private neighborhood lakeside park with docks and lake access to enjoy, or drive a short distance to the state park which also has lake access and a beach. A short walk away is a world class white water course, located within minutes are challenging golf courses, ample shopping and a wide variety of excellent restaurants.
Winter or summer, the Mountain Merlot offers every convenience and luxury for you, your family and guests. Each bedroom has cable TV, and its own private bath. The kitchen is well appointed with any utensil, pan, or appliance you would ever need. The recreation room offers a variety of games, card table, billiards and a wet bar. Large decks offer mountain and lake views. Year Purchased: 2006
Bill and Lauren: From Northern Virginia; 4 daughters ranging in age from 22 to 28. Come to Deep Creek/Wisp for the holidays and whenever the house is not rented in the summer. Bill is a director of engineering and construction for the Army and Lauren is a school teacher.
Why the Owner Chose McHenry
We have been vacationing with our family at various beaches and ski resorts for 25 years. We always found things that we loved about each of the houses we rented. We purchased a piece of property in the up and coming neighborhood of Boulder Ridge and designed our house with all of our favorite features. Wisp and Deep Creek Lake have been a family favorite for the better part of a decade. The lake is so beautiful and the slopes are perfect for our family since all six of us have different skill and braveness levels.
The Unique Benefits of this House
If you come stay during the ski season, the house is truly on the slopes. You can ski right down the advanced slope or hop on the lift to take you to the beginner/intermediate slopes. There is no driving or clumsy walking in ski boots. The house is just a stones throw from the new whitewater river that was built last year. Guests can kayak or raft. There three beautiful and challenging golf courses around the Wisp resort if you enjoy golf. For the water-lovers Boulder Ridge has a private lakefront park for it's residents and guests (renters) that has 2 docks and a large lawn for picnics, games and sunning.

A large group of friends and I recently took a weekend getaway to Wisp and stayed at this incredible property. The pictures don't lie - and actually don't even do the place justice! All the amenities you could ask for, sparkling clean, very modern kitchen, comfortable beds, and of course the best part - ski-in/out! Literally the chair lift is right outside the house - the walk to get on is far less than if you had to park at any base lodge. We happened to go in what Wisp called the best conditions in 10 years (and also some of the coldest temps!), but I would have had a great time either way, just hanging out in this lovely home. I'd love to return next year!
