Welcome to "The River House", one of the cutest and most accommodating homes on the river. Located in beautiful Oswegatchie Hills with access to the beach and deep water dock, you can moor your boat out front, drop in your kayak, or simply get a sun tan on the dock. The home was built in 2007 to hurricane standards.
This is a wonderful place to share some of the summer with your family. Fish in the morning, swim in the afternoon and enjoy the sun sets in the evenings. For entertainment, you will have a fabulous view on the TOP deck both up and down the Niantic River. Wonderful meals can be prepared in the kitchen and on the gas grill. For fun and convenience you can send your food up to the top deck with the assistance of the dumb waiter.
The bedrooms are quite quaint with brand new queen beds and we have added a set of bunk beds. The Family room has a queen pull out couch. A flat screen TV is located in the the upstairs living room for that movie you just have to see. Sit back and relax in our Riverhouse.
So come and enjoy the mornings on the lower deck watching the geese and evenings on the top deck with the fabulous sun sets.

The River House is a modern, comfortable place that is a great home away from home when you're visiting the Niantic / New London / Mystic area. The house is well-appointed, with all new (water- and energy-efficient) appliances, a well-equipped kitchen, and a family-friendly layout. There was plenty of room for our family of 5; sleeping more than 6 people would require using the pull-out couch. The deck upstairs and the dumbwaiter give this house a unique touch, and allow for entertaining while on vacation. Whether upstairs (outside on the deck) or on the main floor, you have a fantastic river view. In addition to the information provided in the listing, the owner provides many helpful details about a month before your scheduled arrival date (and has a copy of these instructions on site). We found the owner very friendly, responsive, and easy to work with. I'd definitely recommend that friends and/or family consider renting the property (unless, of course, their request is at a time that I'd like to be there). The property is located only a short (driving) distance from downtown Niantic; local attractions such as The Dinosaur Place, Ocean Beach, Foxwoods Casino, Mystic Aquarium, and Mystic Seaport are 20 - 45 minutes away. If you're looking for good, fresh seafood (but not exclusively seafood; they have a good NY Strip, too), go a few miles inland on CT Route 161 to Flanders Fish Market (on the left, about 1/2 - 1 mile past I-95, just before the high school). They're very family friendly and have a good kid's menu, as well. If breakfast is more your thing, consider The Shack for a sit-down meal (on the left, 1/4 - 1/2 mile past I-95), or to satisfy your donut cravings, buy local at Flanders Donut and Bake Shop (on the right, 1/4 - 1/2 mile past I-95). If booking a stay at this property, be advised that you will need to have a car, as there are no stores or attractions within walking distance. Also, you should be aware that the main level is one story above ground level. While most families would have no trouble with this layout, this would not be the best property to rent for someone with significant physical disabilities. For future trips to the area, we will definitely rent here again, provided the property is available.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.
