Location: Bodega Bay, Sonoma County, Wine Country, California, USA (Cottage in Salmon Creek Village, 1 Mile North of Bodega Bay) View Map
Accommodations: Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 3-5)
Keywords: Beach Cottage
WE HAVE JUST COMPLETED RENOVATIONS ON A NEW KITCHEN, BATHROOM, AND LITTLE 2ND BEDROOM.
THE CASUAL COTTAGE CHARM STILL PREVAILS.
THERE IS A NEW HOT TUB ALSO.
Hattie's Cottage is located in charming Salmon Creek, a former fishing village, just north of Bodega Bay. It feels like Cape Cod.
You are just a 3-5 minute stroll to the beach. Walking around this quaint little town on small quiet streets, you'll appreciate that there is no highway between you and the beautiful north coast ocean and wide sand beach where you can walk for miles.
Sitting in your private hot tub within the large lovely garden, you will look out over the ocean, sand dunes, and the creek where it enters the Pacific; you will hear the surf. The shore birds abound.
Inside the cottage itself you will be warmed by the eco-friendly gas-log fireplace. You have full ocean views from kitchen, living room, dining, and bedroom.
Although our cottage is small, it is built for entertaining, with a large kitchen open to dining area and the garden beyond. In adjacent Bodega Bay you will find many good restaurants, and Sonoma county wine-tasting area is a short and beautiful drive.
Come and relax, stick your feet in the sand, and shake off those city cares for a little while at Hattie's Cottage. It's fine to bring your pooch; our yard is fully fenced, just clean up after Fido.

Cozy Beach Cottage in Salmon Creek, White-Water Ocean Views
Year Purchased: 2007
Why the Owner Chose Bodega Bay
We have been drawn to this quirky little village for years and years. It is like a place that time forgot, reminiscent of life before chain stores, high rises, and the pressures of modern life.
Although we live nearby, it is like a different world to come here.
When we come to Salmon Creek our cares just seem to evaporate or get absorbed by the coastal fog......
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
We sit and gaze at the ocean a lot, since we can look at it from just about anywhere in the house. Walks along the beach and behind the dunes, especially early morning and at sunset are a special treat. We also enjoy walking our rambunctious dog around Salmon Creek village, enjoying all the bird life and seeing what the neighbors are up to.
Never a week goes by without a lunch time trip to Spud Pt Crab Company for their fabulous clam chowder.
For a touch of casual sophistication on the bay, it's fun to go to Gourmet au Bay in Bodega Bay for wine tasting; they have happy hour on Fridays.
Owner's Map of Bodega Bay
We have owned Hattie's Cottage (named after our dog: an Egyptian Pharaoh Hound) for about 4 years now.
We live only 25 minutes away, so we can be available should any house problems arise during your stay.

My wife and I needed to get away from the hustle of the city and had a fantastic weekend! The house is very close to the beach and has great views of the creek and crashing waves. They yard was perfect for our dogs to get to run around and the Hot tub was located in a place where neighbors could not see us, while we could still see the Ocean while sitting in the tub. Salmon Creek beach does not allow dogs, so we took a short drive to Portuguese beach to let the dogs run. For breakfast, we took a beautiful drive into Occidental and ate at Howard's Station Cafe. The scenery of the drive was amazing and the small town was very quaint. The cottage itself is very warm and cozy. Nice Kitchen and the upstairs bedroom has windows on all 4 sides to enjoy the views.

My second visit to Hattie's Cottage was even better than the first time! On rainy Fall weekend, there is absolutely no better place to be. We were warm and toasty with the fireplace in the family room looking out the window at the stormy coast. The newly remodel kitchen is great! Gas stove with a removable middle grill/griddle worked perfectly. Love the bathroom remodel (for those of you have visited in the past, not only was the bath totally renovated, but it was relocated and much larger! Suffice to say I will be back again (and again...and again)

Hattie's Cottage is a wonderful place to kick back and relax. The cottage and garden are lovely and the view is to die for! Just watching the waves from the big window in the living room is relaxing. My husband and I stayed three nights and didn't want to leave. We are looking forward to our next trip to Hattie's Cottage. Kathy

We had a wonderful stay at Hattie's Cottage. The cottage itself is just lovely with all these little decorations, the cozy living- and bedroom, the new kitchen and bathroom. And the best is the view to the ocean - no matter if you are inside or in the beautiful garden. You could just sit there for hours starring at the ocean and listen to the waves and birds. It's so peaceful there. We just loved it. So did our kids. And in case it's foggy, you can use the hot tub in the garden and relax for a while... Thank you so much.

I take my son to Bodega Bay for Coyote Camp every summer for two weeks. This is the second time that I have stayed in Salmon Creek and I must tell you, that Hattie's Cottage is the place to rent! The sweeping view of the ocean is amazing and we were blessed with more days of sun then I can ever remember. This made the Cottage even more desirable as the sunsets, viewed from the cozy living room, jacuzzi or one of the lovely sitting areas outside were spectacular. The house is well stocked and from the time you enter it, you feel like "this is home". The large fenced-in yard made it nice for me to just let my Maltese outside to roam and I totally enjoyed sitting out there with the scents of lavender and rosemary. The "crows nest" bedroom upstairs is a delight and as a quilter I enjoyed the nice touches of the quilts around the cottage as well as no maintenance fire place. As nice as a real fire is, it gets old dragging the wood in and the ashes out, and Bodega is cold, even in the summer so the no mess no fuss was nice. I like going up to this area to get "unplugged" and so I appreciate the no cell service, but for those who still need contact with the outside world the cottage provides all the amenities, WiFi, Cable, washer and dryer and even a phone that you can call long distance if need be. The owners were super easy to work with, easy to contact and provide excellent directions for the use of the items in the home as well as nice books on local places to visit. Hattie's Cottage provides the benefit of being "on the hill" in Salmon Creek, giving you views not possible from the lower streets, while still being a super short walk to the beach, a benefit that my 7 year old and I both liked (me the view, him the short walk!) I live in the San Diego area near the beach and Salmon Creek is my "get away spot" and I can say without a doubt that you will not be disappointed by this location. Well-maintained, very clean, very private, Hattie's Cottage is easily a "home away from home". For extra R and R I recommended a visit to the Osmosis Spa, a unique, wonderful experience, a trip up to Duncan Mills and Dinner at The River in Jenner.

Everything about this clean adorable cottage is exactly what was needed - view, all supplies available including bbq tongs ! Did I say Killer view? close to beach. dvd, internet, even games. A wonderful relaxing experience and I will be back also. Advice: local markets are expensive - bring your own food if you can. Also, most cellphone companies don't provide service here. There is a landline phone.

Had a wonderful few days at Hattie's cottage with my mother (age 85) and two teenage boys. The location is unbeatable with outstanding views of the ocean across Salmon Creek. The house was exactly as described - well equipped (families might note the lack of a dishwasher) and was clean and well maintained. Garden was a delight to all - including the dog! Although you cannot take a dog onto the local beach, there are several beaches a few miles either south or north where you can take a dog and also pleasant walks around the village and across the fields (lots of gopher holes!) to compensate. Robin the owner was very helpful and extremely pleasant. We will definitely go back!

What a gorgeous little cottage! I booked Hattie's Cottage as a jumping-of point for Bodega Bay birding, and my expectations were exceeded by the charming decor, fully stocked kitchen, and breathtaking views. Everything was clean and lovely, and I enjoyed the selection of music and books to keep me entertained on the foggy days. I'll be back to this little gem, no question.
