Why the Owner Chose Florissant
The cabin is close enough to our home that we can go whenever we feel like it. The geography is absolutely amazing. Also, it’s so close to so many mountain activities, it’s a great base to explore Colorado from. Actually, we are going to build our dream home there some day.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
We love the quiet scenery and many activities that are available to us. In the winter, its great to get away and watch the birds and snow. In the summer, we love to hike the property and go fishing. It really is a world away.

Gorgeous winter getaway - but bring your snow chains

The cabin's location is absolutely gorgeous - the cabin itself is well-stocked with towels/linens/blankets/spices/etc., so all you really need to bring is food (and firewood! Firewood's provided but will be too damp to burn well if it snows.) The cabin is quite cozy and stayed quite warm, and there were a surprising number of beautiful songbirds who showed up the minute we put bird seed out for them to eat on the porch. However, if you come up in winter/fall, bring snow chains for your tires! The road up to the cabin is quite challenging in snow and ice, with lots of curvy parts and a rather steep grade right before the cabin, which sits on top of the hill. This was no problem with chains on our back tires, but the first night there without was a challenge and we ended up parking on the bottom of the hill. (Note: The owner DID give us fair warning that the cabin is difficult to reach in cold weather, but we wanted an adventure, and we got one.) Altogether a great honeymoon, the only drawback being the mattress, which was somewhat uncomfortable. Thanks!

This was our second trip in as many summers to this fantastic cabin. It did not disappoint. It was just like coming home for us. The cabin was immaculately clean (again). We were in close proximity to 11 Mile Canyon (outstanding!) and Cripple Creek (wonderful drive). We enjoy laid-back, quiet vacations, and the outdoor grill was a great addition, as we love to cook out and enjoy nature. My husband packed, then hung a hammock, which he spent quite a bit of time in! A very relaxing vacation once again...thanks to our great hosts!

We really enjoyed staying in this very clean cabin that was in the perfect location for a quick weekend getaway. We visited Cripple Creek, Florissant Fossil Beds, and Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center. The drive on 67 to Cripple Creek was beautiful - would be perfect to drive it when the aspens are changing. Loved walking around the property with our dogs - the rock formations, stream, and little waterfall are gorgeous. Nice big windows in the cozy living room. Could hear the traffic from the road every once in a while - but was still a really peaceful, private, beautiful spot. The owner was great to work with.

This cabin and the surrounding property was perfect for our first getaway with our baby. The owner was pleasant to work with and all communication went very well. The creek added a nice touch for exploring and we loved all the giant rocks. Thanks, Mike & Jess.

Florissant's Best Kept Secret

We stayed 4 nights at this beautiful cabin, and it was not nearly long enough. The home itself is highly accomodating, the scenery unbelievable, and Nate, the owner, prompt with correspondence and very informative. It is literally like being in the middle of nowhere, yet so close to everything. Excellent place to unwind in the afternoons as the deck spans three sides of the cabin. It was great to stay "rural" yet find ourselves in Manitou Springs or Colorado Springs in no time. We came back from shopping one afternoon to find a deer lying under the upper deck. This was our first summer vacation to Colorado, and will never consider staying elsewhere in the future. If you pass this place up, you're really missing out.

I highly reccommend this cabin. My husband, our two kids (ages 6 and 4), and I had a wonderful week at this beautiful property. The cabin was comfortable and convenenient to all area attractions. With one bedroom and a sofabed, there was plenty of space for our young family. We loved the cabin's cozy mountain decor. There was so much to explore on the property, and my husband loved being able to shoot his bow (at a target, of course) every day. If you live in a big city, like we do, this is the perfect place to get away from it all. We hope to return next summer!

We had a great weekend trip at the cabin - very relaxing, cozy, and great surroundings. Our dogs loved splashing through the creek that runs through the property. Nice DVD selection and all the amenities of home. Thanks for having us!
