Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2008
Murreigh has a very special place in my heart. My father comes from Murreigh and as a child I spent every summer holiday here staying with family. I remember spending a great deal of time at the old forge watching the blacksmith at his work, it was fascinating.
I also remember my dad would ask a local farmer for a donkey or pony so i could spend my days happily riding around the village and down on the beach. No saddle or bridle just an old sack on its back and a old rope made into a bridle. Equipment was very basic and simple but so was life in those days.
The children would meet at the local hall for the ceili, we would dance all the old jigs and reels while a local band played. We had so much fun, the hall was always full of local children and visitors.
From our house in the village I can actually see my Grandads cottage, I remember visiting him as a child, I couldn't have a conversation with him because he only spoke Gaelic, the only English he knew was hello and goodbye!
I only have great memories of Murriegh and the Dingle area, I hope if you decide to visit here you will also go away with special memories of a beautiful place and wonderful friendly people.
