We loved our stay at the Labadee house. It had lots of character and was great for families. We especially loved the back yard with lots of room to run around for the kids. Cabuya was a nice quiet place to stay while still being close enough to everything. There are a couple of really tasty cafes nearby as well as a little grocery store. Try some decadent chocolate cake from the bakery. Noa and Jacob were really amazing hosts they made us feel as if we were a part of the community. They give great recommendations and help out if needed. They definitely helped make our short stay very enjoyable.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at the Labadee House from Dec 25, 2010 until Jan 5, 2011 and we had a great time! The house was very cozy and clean and we haven't had any major problems during our stay. The owners - Noa and Jacob were quite accommodating and helpful with answering our questions about the Cabuya area. We came to Cabuya to relax and unwind from our busy lives and found what we were looking for. We couldn't wish for better weather! Most of the time we just spent exploring different beaches from Montezuma to Santa Teresa and our favourite one for swimming was Playa Las Manchas 15 min south of Montezuma, which is a bit far from Cabuya if you are not driving. We couldn't really find a good beach for swimming within a reasonable walking distance from Labadee house. So one thing to keep in mind if you're coming to Cabuya is that you will need to rent a car or a quad to get around. A quad is a little cheaper, but it is also a lot noisier and you will all be covered in dust just after a few minutes riding that thing. Same really goes for walking, since all the roads in that area are not paved and the traffic can be quite heavy. Another thing to keep in mind is that there are bugs and that they do get into the house, but that's not really a problem specific to this particular property. Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed our experience! We would recommend this house and the Cabuya area, but you do have to be somewhat adventurous to enjoy yourself. We absolutely adored this place. Noa & Jacob have created a beautiful home in paradise to share with those who want to enjoy it. The reason I choose vacation rentals over hotels is because I think it creates a more authentic experience. We definitely found that here. I loved our daily walks through the village and being greeted by the local people living their everyday lives, fascinating to be a brief part of. The mornings were wonderful, we ran on the beach (some mornings even early enough to watch the beautiful sunrise) and then returned to the house for coffee and breakfast in the back garden while listening to the birds & monkeys in the nearby trees. Unfortunately we had a bit of trouble with our rental car one morning, but thankfully we called Noa & Jacob and they were able to help us get it sorted out pretty quickly without too much trouble. Thank you again for all your help and your kind hospitality. We look forward to returning again one day.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

This is a perfect spot for relaxing, enjoying nature or exploring this wonderful part of Costa Rica. We had such a great time. It is a quiet, calm, beautiful place. The location is perfect whether you want to take day trips to explore the peninsula or just stay put and enjoy the house and everything the village has to offer. The house was nice, clean and comfortable. The garden is where we spent most of our time, hanging out on the patio or the hammock. There was plenty to keep us busy for the week. We really enjoyed the kayaking and snorkelling around Isla de Cabuya, and surfing at Playa Grande in Montezuma. This is a wonderful way to spend time away from the everyday hustle & bustle of life, get your mind right, recharge your batteries & get rid of any stress you may have. The only drawback is that you won't want to leave.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Noa & Jacob, It was great to take a break from a busy life in Boston and to such a warm and relaxing week in Cabuya (Newville House). We loved the house from the wonderful pool (& waterfall) to the beautiful fruit trees and hammock. Things we've enjoyed doing in Cabuya: buying fish from local fishermen & steaming it with the banana leaves in the back making guacamole! reading all the books in the house by the pool. chasing a bird out of our house (that accidentally flew in) being more mindfull of the front door (see above point!) buying the "tres leches" dessert from the Panederia wonderful walk through Cabo Blanco. trying "gallo pinto" at all the local spots - our favorite = Defin de la Luna. making mixed drinks from some local juices & "cuatro plumas" overall beautiful house friendly local people Thanks again for the wonderful stay!Did you find this review helpful? Thank you so much for the wonderful time we spent staying at Labadee House. We really loved the beautiful details of the house and we felt so comfortable here. The days in Cabuya were so relaxing and peaceful, we liked your ideas and spent time at the Rio Lajas. We walked there along the beach in the morning, then spent several hours at the swimming holes. Mattis loved every second of that. We didn't have our own transportation, so we used the local bus, which was fun too, and also walked a lot. Perfect to have Cabo Blanco so close. Would have enjoyed to stay even longer, but maybe we will be able to visit this place again! Thanks for your help, the nice emails and the warm welcome in Cabuya! We wish you a great time & we would be very happy to meet again. Steph, Heiko & MattisDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Your home is wonderful and provided us with the rest, renewal and relaxation we were looking for. The forest covered mountains of Cabo Blanco National Park on one side and the ocean on the other. One week was not long enough to enjoy the natural beauty & friendly people of Cabuya. The house was fantastic. It is so peaceful, clean and private. Much more private than any hotel could be. We couldn't have planned for a more relaxing week. This is definitely a no-stress zone. As soon as you step outside, you can only take in a deep breath and feel the tranquillity. It is a secluded location, perfect for those who want a relaxing holiday, near enough to amenities, but far enough to have solitude if desired. There are beautiful beaches, a few nice restaurants, a couple of small supermarkets, and it is truly unspoiled. It takes a little bit of effort to get there, with the bumpy roads, but it is certainly worth it. I would highly recommend this home & this area.Did you find this review helpful? We had a fantastic vacation in Cabuya. The house was truly lovely, clean and had everything we needed for a great stay. Cabuya is a wonderful sleepy fishing village, with a couple of grocery stores and a few nice little restaurants. It is convenient to everything you could need and just remote enough to feel away from it all. And it’s not far to drive to Montezuma or Mal Pais is you fancy a change of scene for something a little more lively. The house is also only a short drive down the road to numerous beautiful sandy beaches. Best of all they were small and not crowded. Some days we even had them almost completely to ourselves. Waterfalls, rivers, Cabo Blanco National Park….this place is abundant in natural beauty. My favourite time was early morning drinking my coffee and having breakfast on the patio where the only sounds were the songs of the birds and the early morning breeze rustling the leaves of the trees. By the second morning we were so relaxed and at peace we felt like we never wanted to leave. As the village sign reads: Cabuya: Pura tranquilidad. If you are looking for peace and tranquillity of a tropical paradise , Labadee House is the perfect place to be.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
