Map & Owner's Profile
The Clocktower Flat, South Main, Close to River and Downtown
Year Purchased: 2009
Why the Owner Chose Buena Vista
The ClockTower Flat is located in the heart of the South Main neighborhood in Buena Vista. We bought into the idea of South Main from its inception. Based on the principles of New Urbanism, we appreciated the thoughtful design and layout of the community, and the fact that it broke most of the boundaries of what typical code deems "normal" in this day and age. The streets are designed to be outdoor rooms, framing in amazing views, considering ratios of building heights to street widths, and the homes are designed so that you get to know your neighbors. Basically, it just feels good to be here. It feels right walking down the street to the brew pub. It feels right looking out across the valley to the 14,000 foot Collegiate Peaks. Midland Mountain's trails right outside the back door beckon you to take a hike, run or quick mountain bike outing. The river calls from 100 yards away, inviting you to bring your kayak or raft down to the banks. We love the new bouldering parks that feel like a modern day Stonehenge, with rock climbers working on their routes to the tops. We love the fact that we can park our car for weeks on end and either walk or ride our bikes to town. We're glad that there is only one stoplight in town and that heavy traffic means waiting for a minute to exit the grocery store parking lot.

This is the old courthouse building which now houses the Buena Vista Heritage Museum.
