We had a wonderful winter in this condo. Just the way it is pictured. Wonderful mountain views off the bedroom lanai where we would sit often and also watching the ocean from the front lanai. We could even hear the waves at night when the surf was up and of course the roosters in the morning. We always had a nice breeze going through the condo, we barely used the fans. Maya and Moty were wonderful to deal with. Any questions were answered quickly. The Cliffs Resort is in a great location. It is a short walk to the cliff to watch the whales (and there were plenty), and even on crutches the first couple of weeks,it was easy to get around. The new workout room was a nice plus. The adult only hot tub is wonderful. The pool area is set up where you can have privacy and shade if you want or mingle. We stayed there before and were thrilled when we found this condo to stay in for 2 months. The people are very friendly and we received good information from the staff and other visitors. We have already booked again. The area has so much to offer hiking, swimming, relaxing, and paved pathways to walk for miles. The farmers market, Kalypso's Restaurant and the Hanalei Gourmet. The whole area helps you think healthy. Thank you for letting us stay in your condo.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you so much Mike and Carl. We just couldn't describe our place any better than you did. So glad to have you back again next year. Moty and Maya

This condo was very nice. Having never been to the island of Kauai before, I had a lot to learn. I'm generally a "research addict", but for whatever reason, I didn't research the location of this condo as well as I should. We traveled to Kauai in November, which is considered the "winter months" for Kauai. The winter months in Kauai bring large and strong surf to the nothern end of the island. The seas were basically so strong, that we really couldn't get in the water to enjoy it. So, therefore, most of our trips were made to the southern end of the island (what locals call the "dry side"). The southern part of the island has less severe surf during the winter months compared to the northern part of the island. It's about an hour to an hour and a half drive to the southern beaches. There is only a two lane roadway around the island (no freeway system). That being said, this was a decent place to stay. Like everywhere in Kauai, the roosters were abundant and they were everywhere. Roosters in Kauai "cackle" all times of the day and night (not just at sunrise). Hey, they are on Hawaiian time right? Since this condo didn't have air conditioning, we had to leave the windows open at night while we slept. After day two, I had to buy some ear plugs from a local grocery store to drown out the Roosters in the middle of the night. I'm a light sleeper, so this wasn't an option. I was somewhat irritated at myself for "missing" the fact that this condo didn't have A/C. I guess I just assumed that it would have had A/C. The ceiling fans combined with the trade winds were enough to keep the condo cool though. If we were traveling back to the Princeville area of Kauai, we'd definitely stay here again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at the condo for a week, and we loved every minute of it. It has a great location being on the amazing side of the island and within minutes of amazing beaches. It's in a great resort with anything you could need with great amenities, friendly staff, and an unbeatable deal. Everything that we could need with it being our home away from home for a week, was there. We would definitely stay there again and can't wait. Thank you for a great week!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We have just returned to Oregon after having spent two weeks at Mark and Maya's condo at the Cliffs in Princeville. This is our sixth visit to Kauai, our favorite island, and this is by far our favorite place to stay. The description in VRBO of their condo is completely accurate; it is convenient, perfectly sized, well furnished and nicely appointed with nearly everything we needed to have a great time. This is our first time at Mark and Maya's place, and it won't be the last. We have stayed at The Cliffs 4 times. It is a beautiful, well-managed and well-maintained facility with a very friendly and knowledgeable staff who continually anticipate their guests' needs and help everyone feel welcome and find the activities to make their vacation most enjoyable. We come to Kauai to be reinvigorated by the island's magic (some of us still have to work for a living), and Mark and Maya's place is the perfect place to start. Thank you, Mark and Maya, and thanks to the staff at The Cliffs. We'll be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our long stay in Mark and Maya's condo. We were very fortunate to stumble upon this unit with excellent lighting throughout the units and beautiful views from the lanai. It has been a joy to wake up to the sunrise on the lanai while watching the waterfall from one end and the ocean from the other. The owners have been very easy to work with. We have enjoyed going to Anini Beach and Tunnels Beach most mornings. In the evenings we've watched the sunset from Hanalei Bay. This unit comes complete with many extras that make it very comfortable. After driving around the area, the Cliffs seem to be the best location for us. We like it's proximity to the beaches and the climate. We would recommend this unit to anyone traveling to Kauai. We had a wonderful experience here. Mark and Maya were very helpful and e-mailed us shortly after our arrival to make sure we had located our accommodation and that everything was fine. The description and photos of the condo on VRBO are very representative of the accommodation. We found everything well maintained, very clean, homey and comfortable. The grounds and the overall development are well maintained and we had many enjoyable evenings in the hot tub meeting other guests. We would recommend this condo for couples looking for a very relaxing get away. We enjoyed Kauai very much and would recommend this unit to our friends should they be traveling to Kauai. We hope to get back in the future and would certainly rebook here if available. We enjoyed the location in Princeville and the proximity to Hanalei. We had several enjoyable lunches at the Dolphin and would recommend it. We also enjoyed the Mermaid at Kapa'o. and Dukes Canoe Club. The hike to the waterfall on Kalalau Trail was spectacular, however, the trails are not well maintained and can prove to be a real challenge due to several stream crossing and erosion.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

We stayed in this lovely condo! It is exactly as described with beautiful furnishings and decor, clean and well maintained, and it exceeded our expectations! We wish to thank the owner, who was very helpful, understanding and caring. The Cliffs resort was also wonderful with a great pool. We definitely will tell our friends and relatives to stay in this unit when they to travel to Kauai. We found small town of Hanalei just a short drive to be delightful with inexpensive and good restaurants and shopping, also the beach there is wonderful. We look forward to returning and staying in this beautiful condo next year.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This condo complex is a great place to be. The grounds are beautiful and the pools & spas are great. The unit is huge with a beautiful corner lanai. It is a bit dated but very clean and the washer/dryer was handy as we got very muddy on our hikes. We will definitely return there.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We stayed the last week of Sept 2011 at this lovely condo in Princeville. The description and photos are exactly as depicted. It is a roomy one bedroom with tropical fans and a delicious cool evening breeze that made the bedroom curtain billow - reminding me of the movie Out of Africa. This was our first experience with renting a condo for vacation and it was really neat to buy fresh fish at the market just a few minutes away and prepare it in the condo. After driving all over Kauai looking for fabulous sunset scenery - we loved just eating our meals on the living room lanai. It affords a 180 degree view of the huge beautiful mountains, tons of tall palm trees, and an abundance of tropical plants and different colored bougainvilla....as well as a patch of blue of the ocean. Mark and Maya have supplied it with everything you need....all you have to do is relax and enjoy. The pool is fabulous surrounded with black lava rocks and waterfalls and the jacuzzi is right in the pool. We saw kids having a ball in the daytime in it and romantic couples at night - Kauai is the perfect place for honeymooners or in our case celebrating a big anniversary. The peaceful serenity of this complex, the condo and the entire island was mesmerizing and intoxicating. It was super duper quiet especially in the evening for sleeping. The tennis courts looked really nice but we didnt end up playing as there are so many different things to do. We did a helicopter ride around the island and a seven hour - catamaran snorkel cruise-both fabulous. We went to a different gorgeous beach each day. If you are into hiking - The Kalalau Trail at the end of the road is the best we have ever experienced - go early -allow several hours and jump in the sea at Kee Beach when your through hiking. Don't forget to pack a lunch as it truly is at the end of the road. Ten minutes down the road in Hanalei town is Kalypso Restaurant-we had the coconut shrimp and crab quesadillas and they were yummy. Skip the Fish Taco place in Hanalei and head a litttle south to Anini Beach - go all the way til you get to the lavendar lunch wagon and order the chili salad plate-its organic vegetarian and fabulous-we went TWICE!! Anini is great for snorkeling and the huge sea turtles swim right up to you to check you out! Have a ball....we sure did!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Ginger, we're so happy that you had a great time. We really love Kauai and are grateful that we can share it with others who have never experienced it. It sounds like you took advantage of every minute. Thank you so much for the great review. Mark & Maya

About the owner: Rebecca is originally from Big Sky Country and I grew up in much smaller sky country. We both love Hawaii for its easy access and instant relaxation effect. We enjoy ourselves in the California Bay Area. But all the work and business can get a little overdone. So we either take quick road trips to more secluded areas in California or travel to Hawaii for longer stays. We hope that you can experience the revitalization which Hawaii has offered to us so many times in the past.
Why the Owner Chose The Cliffs:
Kauai is a beautiful island. Getting there is quite simple. And after an easy drive, we're in a different world. There's nothing but good when you wake up to the lush views every morning.
