We arrived and Edda picked us up. This was a great plus as we arrived at 6:00AM. She took us back to the wonderful apartment where she had soup and bread waiting for us. We were so happy! Edda gave us a map of the city, directions and restaurant and entertainment suggestions. The apartment was wonderful. We were 5, which was perfect as the second bed in the one bedroom is slightly small. The kitchen was wonderful and the living room and dining room were very spacious. We had no trouble with just one bath as it is very large. There was also a lovely laundry room off the bath. This apartment is one block from a great bakery, one block from a great fresh fish shop and 3 blocks from a grocery store. It is also 5 to 6 blocks from wonderful pubs and restaurants. It is also 1/2 block form the Hotel Holt, which is lovely. The concierge there is very helpful! There is also a wonderful restuaruant two blocks away that is one of the best in Iceland. Prir Frakkir, don't miss it! I cannot imagine a better location, a better manager or a better apartment! Thank you for a great place to stay while on our wonderous vacation!!

My family and I stayed at Edda's before going on a grand three-week tour of Iceland. We stayed there when we arrived in Reykjavik at 1 AM. Edda had prepared home made soup for us and welcomed us as if we were long lost family. She offered us tips and help along our way. Since we have four teenage daughters, her apparment was exactly what we needed: a place to relax and take in a little cozyness before going out on our camping trip. We highly recommend Edda's place. It is clean, comfortable, practical, and with Edda there, charming. Thanks Edda, hope to see you again some day !

We loved staying right in the centre of Reykjavik in this fabulous apartment. Even though we arrived after 1am Edda greeted us warmly and provided us with delicious homemade soup. She is a wonderful host and gave us all the information we needed to enjoy our stay. We slept so well in the very comfortable beds every night even after a long day of strenuous hiking. We slept really well after relaxing in the Blue Lagoon too! The apartment was very well equipped with everything we needed and it was spotless and well maintained. Just steps away we found a great bakery and a Bonus supermarket. I'd highly recommend this apartment to my friends and family and we hope to stay here again soon.

Our family of four (two boys age 11 and 14) spent twelve terrific days in this ideal apartment in June, 2011. It was spotless, cozy, elegant but very comfortable, and in a sweet neighborhood. We could not have been more pleased. It was steps from everything, yet really quiet. A home-away-from-home. It was a long plane ride and we were desperate to relax upon arrival; although it was early, Edda and family made the apartment ready and offered us delicious "Christmas Soup". And, she helped us throughout our stay with our questions. Iceland was truly a joy for all of us. We took several day trips out of town and saw a wide variety of wonders. We very much hope to be back again some day to see more - and to see Edda again! A nice little local cafe/bar is Vitabar - two blocks west down from the great church. Best hamburgers anywhere! Also, Noodle Station in same neighborhood is delicious. And the bakery down the block from the apartment!

Explosive Days and Iceland!

Iceland was an after thought on a trip to Europe. And yet it was the best part of the trip. Much of the credit for the success goes to Edda. Her apartment was comfortable, well located, artistic, and equipped with every possible thing a person cold want. Edda greeted us like long lost friends. Served us delicious treats, helped us select things to do and see while in Iceland and kept us from having a major meltdown. You see the volcano decided to explode during out visit. Flights were cancelled and a wee bit of chaos followed. But Edda called us everyday with and English translation of airport news and advice about flights. Thanks to her we were able to ignore the chaos, go on with our adventure and leave on time. Can't wait to again return to this lovely country. And stay at Edda's place.

Excellent Place to stay when visiting Reykjavik/Southern Iceland

I and 3 friends just returned from a week at Edda's place and as a person who has travelled to every corner of the world, this place ranks high. It is nice, clean, comfortable, homey and close to everything. Edda is a wonderful host; she was waiting for me upon my arrival and provided me a feast of local foods. If you love to travel and experience living in a city vs. "being a tourist" or wanting room service, Edda's IS the place. We will be going back. We would go to the Bakery and to Mokka for breakfast and coffee, respectively and head out for 8-10 hours of seeing what southern Iceland has to offer. Each day we would return home and have a 5 star meal. The food is expensive, but the portion sizes are quite big.

We had the pleasure of staying in Reykjavik for the last 4 days, 6 people arriving from New York and Ireland. I was greeted by Edda with a wonderful hot breakfast and warm conversation over coffee and sweets, all her tips were spot on. The apartment is in a great location, perfect location really. it was warm and very well equiped and imaculately clean and it is Huge. We were made most comfortable in our home away from home with a gracious and warm host. Thank You very much. We will return.

We had a tremendous SuperBowl Weekend in Reykjavik! Edda welcomed us with a wonderful breakfast after a long flight from Phila/Boston. She was a great hostess and helped organize our plans during the weekend stay. We packed as much activity into the weekend as possible. It was great to come home to a warm & cozy apartment after a long day. The 3 bedrooms were spacious and the living/kitchen area was perfect for the 5 of us. It was great to have everyone stay together and enjoy meals and entertainment together. The apartment was close to everything and super easy to get around. We can't wait for another opportunity to visit Reykjavik and Iceland, our entire stay was wonderful! I would highly recommend this apartment. Thank you!!!

I would highly, highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking to stay in Iceland. First of all, the apartment is gorgeous and located within walking distance of everything. Edda served as an extremely warm and informative host from my first contact with her a number of months ago all the way through our entire stay. She was able to provide us with great information for how to make our trip successful, especially with all her New Years Eve recommendations. All in all our trip was amazing and a large part of that is due to us having a wonderful apartment. I would definitely look to stay here again when I come back to Iceland.

Lovely apartment within an easy walk to downtown

This is a lovely apartment close to downtown but relatively quiet. The oldest bakery in Reykyavik is a few doors down and they make awesome pastries. Edda came to the apartment to welcome us. She is a lovely, amiable person and was able to provide us with helpful information. The apartment is well-cared for and very comfortable. Everything we needed was there and it made for a very restful stay. We also rented a car and it was great to have a place to park it. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone wishing to visit Reykyavik. Takk, Edda!

My family of 6 adults and 1 infant stayed in Edda's apartment the last week of August and absolutely LOVED it! The posting and pictures on VRBO does not do it justice...the apartment is simply gorgeous and so nice, clean, and convenient to everything! In addition, Edda is such a lovely hostess....so very warm and helpful -- she truly welcomed us to Iceland. The apartment was very spacious and great for a group of people traveling together. Additionally, it is literally a 5 minute walk to the heart of Reykjavik and close to everything! Our stay was fantastic and Edda's apartment made it that way. We would absolutely love to return some day.

Our trip to Iceland would not have been near as enjoyable without Edda! She met us upon our arrival at 1 am and had prepared delicious soup for the four of us. She arranged for a discount on a car rental and provided us with lots of local information. The apartment was unbeatable! Even better than the pictures. Two couples can stay there cheaper than a hotel and the location is perfect. Also, it was like coming home after a day of sightseeing. I highly recommend Edda and her apartment! July in Southwest Iceland

The apartment in Bergstathastraeti proved to be perfect for a week's vacation for a family of six, including four teenagers. We found it to be exactly as Edda described it and more spacious than we had expected, a real bonus. Everything was well maintained and clean. There was ample linen and towels. The beds were very, very comfortable and all remarked on how well we all slept. The pictures of the apartment accurately capture the reality and the apartment is as big as it appears to be. We had no concerns during our stay and no technical problems. A wonderful breakfast awaited us on arrival and our hostess was a superb resource for information on where to go and how to get there. Edda is very knowledgeable about the history and geography of the country and also has suggestions on what festivals may be happening at the time of the visit. She is most helpful in organising transportation if requested has her clients' best interests at heart. The location of the apartment is excellent as it is close to the centre of the city but not so close to bars and restaurants as to have a lot of passing revelers. Many of the major in-town places of interest are within 5 to 25 minutes walk. The whole variety of downtown eateries and bars are within 15 minutes or less. Among the restaurants we ate at Cafe Solon, and (?Cafe) Oliver were excellent. The "Dubliner" is very much a Dublin type pub and didn't appear to serve meals. Good atmosphere. We visited the Pearl (Perlan) which commands a fabulous view of the entire area. The seafront is a lovely walking area. The bakery a few doors from the apartment has wonderful breads etc. Out of town we visited Gullfoss, Thorsmork, the Blue Lagoon and Glymur falls. The last, Glymur, is not at all signposted until you are at the path leading to the falls. It is well worth the considerable effort, and some risk, to get to. This was the highlight of our trip. We would unreservedly recommend this apartment to friends and family and we shall definitely return to Iceland, which was so unexpectedly warm and beautiful.

Elegant, central, convenient, well-equipped Reykjavik apartment

From the point of first contact some months ago through our recent 15 day stay at Edda's apartment, the whole experience was a delight. The apartment was everything and more than we expected but what we had not anticipated was the informed, gracious and helpful support that Edda provided - from greeting us will an Icelandic breakfast on arrival through advice about day to day living in Reykjavik to introductions to the arts community - it was, as I said, a delight. The neighbourhood offered everything that we needed for our family of 5 (with significantly different interests): easy walking distance to the Cathedral with in splendid organ concerts; almost right across the street from an oh-so-good (or maybe I should say an-oh-too-good) bakery; a nice stroll to first class restaurants and the bar scene; a hop-skip-and-a-jump from elegant shopping including custom-made designs by Hildur at the Ofeigur gallery; and splendid coffee at Cafe Mokkakaffi. It is my pleasure to recommend this property whole-heartedly and without reservation.

Edda, I would just like to thank you for the wonderful hospitality you showed me and my 4 high school friends for our 4 days in Iceland. After years of not seeing each other, your apartment was the perfect home away from home to get caught up. Large, clean, 5 great queen beds, balcony, tonnes of windowns/light, parking, and close to all da action!! The personalized touch of breakfast when we showed up at 6am from our overnight flight from Toronto and the constant updates on where to go and what to do will never be forgotten. I have rented with VRBO many times over the years and must admit that this apartment was more than the description stated. I was pleasantly surprised at its great location and proximity to grocery stores, bakery and shops. The linen were crisp and comfortable and the architecture was charming. My family of five felt right at home at Edda's apartment. The kitchen is well stocked so my family was able to have some meals at home after our long days of tours. We enjoyed our seven days in this lovely place and are eager to return to a wonderful vacation spot.

Hi Edda. Your apartment was a great central home for me and my 4 adult children as we celebrated a college graduation, Christmas and New Years Reykjavik style which is bigger and brighter than anything we could have imagined. The location of the apartment allowed us to discover the city and be a part of your wonderful culture. We will be back again. We recently stayed in this beautiful apartment situated in an ideal location in Reykjavik. Upon arrival, we were met by the owner who filled us in on all of the amenities and even had a welcome light meal ready for us. The apartment was very nicely furnished and is eqipped with everything you will need for your stay. The location is within easy walking distance to bakery, grocery store, restaurants and the main shopping area. We found this place ideal to tour the country sights by day and sample the local restaurants by night. There was even off street parking included. We would highly recommend this apartment.

Edda’s apartment is more beautiful than the pictures show. It is full of light and immaculately clean. The beds are extremely comfortable and Edda has created a luxury hotel experience with the convenience, comfort and favorable pricing of an apartment. The apartment is a two minute walk from a bakery and a grocery, and we often ate breakfast and lunch at the apartment. The apartment is a five minute walk from many nightspots and restaurants, and yet is far enough away from the clubs/bars that one can get a quiet night’s rest. My family and I were in Iceland for a wedding and there was ample room in the apartment for people to visit us and to perform wedding preparations. Edda was punctual and efficient in meeting us at the apartment and showing us how to use the appliances. She also was gracious enough to help us arrange for a rental car. In all, I give renting Edda’s apartment an A+ or five star rating (the best).

4 of us spent 4 days in Iceland and used Edda's apartment as our home base. It is even more elegant than described, is fully equiped for cooking or lounging around, and the location can't be beat; close to the main bus station, domestic airport, and all of Reykjavik's shopping and restaurants. An excellent place to call home while in Iceland!
