The Tides Cottage features 300' of pebble beach connected to miles of rocky beaches for strolling, a waterfront lawn, with Adirondack chairs, a screened gazebo for shady or nighttime lounging, a large (18x28) living room with wood-burning fireplace. There are porches and a balcony, spacious dining for 6, three bedrooms and a 3/4 bath upstairs, and a full bath downstairs.
The cottage is on a quiet, dead end street that is perfect for strolling or cycling, as it meanders along the ocean and among the cottages.
The TIDES COTTAGE rents weekly, Saturday to Saturday.
Visit our website, tides cottage, for more details. The attraction is the ocean. The tides is on a small bluff, with stairs down to the beach. As a result the view is extraordinary. Watch the tides gently lift the fishing boats and cover the mussel beds, as it sneaks up the beach. Watch the sea birds, the seals, the sail boat races, the lobstering. You can even harvest your own clams or mussels at low tide and cook them over an open campfire fire on your own beach. Watch the sunrise, and moonrise over the water.
Kayaks are available. Paddle to an island, or launch your own boat and anchor it in front of the cottage, to give you access to dozens of uninhabited islands, bays, and a Acadia National Park. (Make sure to have a dingy to get ashore.)
Only 5 minutes to restaurants, convenience store, and center of town.

- King Bed: The King Bed is in the waterfront master bedroom, which features enormous windows, and double French doors onto a 12x12 balcony.
- Queen Bed: The queen bedroom is on the road side, with two windows, bureaus, and bench.
- Double Bed: The double bed is in a small roadside bedroom with one window. Access to this room is through the upstairs 3/4 bath.

- Pet Friendly: Well-behaved small pets (dogs under 40 lbs) are welcome. Maine has a leash law. Clean up after your pet. If your pet scratches doors or floors, chases other strolling dogs, bites, intimidates others, is not fully house-trained, or chews furniture, do not bring the pet. You will be responsible for damages. Do not leave the pet unattended in the cottage unless crated.
- Kid Friendly: Hillside, deep gullies, rocks, tides and waves, slippery kelp, woods, and animals, etc. may appeal to children but can be dangerous. Monitor children at all times.

Owner Description
The Mills family purchased their piece of the ocean in the 1970's, a wooded strip of undeveloped land. They left the majority of the land undeveloped, for the sake of beauty, birds, and animals, and on one corner they designed and built, and then re-designed and rebuilt the Tides Cottage over the years. 5 sons who are now professionals in the big cities once sailed, kayaked, splashed, and played croquet and football on the lawns and beaches and played board games around the fire in the evening. In between those playful times they would build a porch, or sheetrock some walls, or install a bathroom. Joan and Dan are now retired educators who run an inn in Bar Harbor that keeps them busy in the summer time, and their children have moved away. So now your family, children, and small pet can enjoy that same home-spun ocean-front experience at the Tides Cottage.
