The cabin was everything it said it was. Quite, clean and relaxing. The hot tub was a real treat for some of our guests, especially at night with the stars out. We toured the Parkway and saw turkeys, deer, squirrels, and a young bear. Awesome. There was a lot of history to take in and we did what we could in 4 days. The Smokey mountains were fabulous, even though it sprinkled one day. What great views and awesome pictures we managed to take. Can't wait to return.

We are repeat visitors to the "Knotty Pine" cabin in Townsend, TN. Cades Cove is one of our favorite places to visit and this has become our favorite place to stay.We enjoy the peaceful side that Townsend has to offer. Richard & Karen are easy to work with for reservations and lodging. The cabin is beautiful and roomy and has easy access from town. The cabin is clean and well maintained. The amenties are very nice (including wireless internet...which we find quite helpful when we travel). We appreciate Richard has accepted our small dog when we visit. We definitely recommend this cabin to others!
Owner response:Thank you so much Margaret and Michael for your kind words! This is our mountain home and we love sharing it with our guests, especially those that make it their home when they return to Townsend! Our goal is to present our home to our guests so that they feel they are in the comforts of their personal retreat. We hated impersonal rentals that we found over the years and we hope Knotty Pine is that home away from home for our guests! Richard

Your cabin was incredible! Great views of the mountains and loved the location (the "quiet" side of the smokies). Kitchen is fully stocked, the hot tub was great after a long day of hiking, eating on the deck was beautiful, and the stars at night were endless. Plenty of room to spread out even with our 4 kids! The beds were comfy and it felt like a home away from home. Townsend has some great small town restaurants (loved "Riverstone" for some authentic bbq pork) and great access to the Smokies and Gatlinburg without all of the traffic. We will definitely recommend your place to family and friends! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Owner response:Greetings Gayle and Kevin! Thank you for your kind words! We are so glad you enjoyed Knotty Pine and our lovely town of Townsend! We work hard to present our home in a way that makes folks feel like they belong there, and it can become their home in the Smokies! I hope you can come back and enjoy the magic of our mountains! My wife and I decided to go to the Smoky Mountains for our honeymoon. We found the cabin had everything that we needed. The kitchen was great, the grill was very nice, it was extremely clean, the TV was good and there were even some movies there to choose from. The hot tub was a very nice addition and a great way to relax after hiking. The location was perfect for us as it was quiet and the surrounding area was not overtly touristy. My wife and I drove through both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and were glad we stayed away from the man-made attractions and stuck with the God-made beauty of the Smokies. Of course, plenty of people enjoy Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, but it's just not for us. The cabin also has a nice binder with plenty of information to help you decide what to do. Pasts guests have written in a section in the binder and in a journal that further help you make the most of your trip. This cabin allowed for my wife and I to have an amazing honeymoon experience. I could also see this being even better with two other couples or even with a family someday.
Owner response:Matt, Thank you so much for your kind words! I am so glad you and your bride could share such a special time in my home and in my favorite place that God made, the Smokies! We work hard to provide a quality experience for our guests, from helping plan their trip before hand by sharing our favorites places in town, to providing anything they might need. We love Knotty Pine and Townsend and enjoy so much hearing how others do as well. Our friends and neighbors in town take good care of our guests and that is why so many keep returning year after year. God Bless you both as your start your life together! Our family greatly enjoyed our stay at your cabin. It was very clean and comfortable. Our kids enjoyed having their own rooms and bathrooms and the kitchen was stocked with all of the appliances that we could have needed. The location was quiet and had an amazing view. The hot tub was great after a day of hiking. This was just what we were looking for - we wish we could have stayed longer!
Owner response:Deb, We are so glad that you enjoyed our home! We work hard to make sure our guests can enjoy our home and the mountains as much as we all do! Thank you for caring for our home as we do! I hope you will be back again soon to Knotty Pine and our mountains! Richard, Vickie and Karen.

I would have to say this is the most well stocked, cleanest cabin we've stayed in the Smokys. We have been in approximately 20 different cabins and this is the best. Richard was awesome to work with and returned calls or emails very timely. It was easy to get to and the views were to die for. Everything you need to cook is in the kitchen and in good shape. I loved that the ice machine worked. Excellent video selection. I like that all of the switches were labeled and the vistor info binder was very helpful. We used the grill a couple of times and it was so clean it looked brand new. You can tell the cabin owners take pride in their cabin and care about their renters. We loved the quietness of Townsend and will stay there again. We loved the golf course bar/restaurant...it was so close and handy.
Owner response:Thank you for your kind words! This is our home and we take great pride in it! We have stayed in many rentals and have taken the good and bad from each stay into consideration when working on our home. We love sharing this special place (Townsend) and our home with our guests. Thank you for noticing and for posting your kind review! The Knotty Pine Team!

We have rented vacation homes numerous times, and this one was the best! Lovely furniture, not "hand me downs"! Immaculately clean! Well stocked kitchen, fine quality sheets, beds were comfortable. Internet access is great, good connection. The pictures are accurate, you will have no "surprises". Location is great if you are planning to spend time in the Great Smoky Mountains. Owners were very responsive when trying to rent, and with my questions about the hottub. Several good resturants nearby, Miss Lilly's, Dancing Bear Lodge for fine dining. I hope to come back with my kids and grandkids some day. Townsend is the best location for easy access to the Smokies, and away from the rows and rows of tourist shop after shop. If the National Park is your destination, this is the place to stay. Highly recommend stopping at the Townsend Visitors Center and purchasing a Great Smoky Mountain Assoc membership...it helps support the park, and gives you discounts on purchases...in the park and elsewhere. GSM park doesn't charge admission, so this helps support them!
Owner response:Thank you John and Mary! We are so glad you enjoyed our home. We do rent our cabin, but it is our Tennessee home and we want everyone staying with us to enjoy as much as we do. We are thrilled you enjoyed our town, Townsend as much as we do. It is the best part of the Smokies to be sure! I hope you can stay with us again, soon and continue your love of our mountains and the people who live there! Richard and the Alpha Vacation Properties Team.

One word describes it all, "Wow!!" Knotty Pine is the best of all worlds to get away for some R and R....quiet and serene yet near town for the variety of things to see/do; Best of all about Knotty Pine..modern amenities wrapped around starlit nights, breathtaking sunrises over the mountains, crisp/refreshing air, singing/chirping birds and natures creations! It took us away from the "busy ness of daily life" ..the perfect ingredients for peace and relaxation. The spacious kitchen/DR provided us great family time for meals..great way to save $$ on this trip. Plenty of space for all. The wrap around deck gave us outstanding views of the mountains, many bird species, neighborhood turkeys and deer. Awesome!! Especially enjoyed early morning walks on Townsends many bike/walking trails. Walking along paths along the gurgling river and enjoying the many trees/plants was invigorating! A day invested over at Cades cove was a highlight; enjoying a picnic in the forest, then drive thru the park to see nature's creatures at home...wild turkeys, birds, deer, and YES, black bear!! Awesome! What a great value for a getaway here at Knotty Pine. We didn't cover it all this trip so we're booking now to return to get in some golf, Dollywood, Gatlinburg, and more of Great Smoky Mtn. Nat. Park next trip. Meantime, we're telling family, friends and bus. associates about your home!

This cabin was so warm and cozy that we had a hard time leaving to go do all of the great things in the area. The cabin was very clean and nice and had just about every thing you could ever want. I like that all of the bedrooms had there own bathroom. The views from the cabin are very pretty and the deck was a great place to relax. Really loved the town of Townsend, so different from Pigeon Forge and Gatlingburg. Nice quiet and friendly. Well worth the rental fee and the rental was very easy to do. Would love to go back and probably will in the future.
Owner response:Thank you for your kind words! We love sharing our home and Townsend with our guests. Townsend is a warm and welcoming place and we try to make our home reflect this! We are glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to hosting you again, soon! Knotty Pine Cabin Families!

Our stay/experience at the 'Knotty Pine' was fantastic! The cabin was spacious, clean, and exceeded our expectations. The cabin is perfectly located near the golf course/pool and the entrance to the mountains! The amenities at the cabin were more than enough to make us feel 'at home' and the views made us feel 'on vacation'. This cabin is perfect!! Next time we'll stay longer for sure!!
Owner response:We so appreciate these kind comments. We love staying at our home and making it awesome for our guests. Is great to know you appreciated all the extra touches! After three years on Homeaway we continue to have great experiences with our guests!

We spent X-MAS at the cabin and could not have asked for more !!!!!!!! It was great. The cabin was super clean. The beds were as comfortable as they could be. And did I mention the views. Very nice of the mountains in the distance. It snowed and it was in deed a winter wonder land. We spent alot of time in Cades Cove and boy was it great. Deer and Turkeys every were. And don't miss Gatlenburg in the winter.I just want to thank Karen and Vickie and Richard for working with us. Every time we needed something they where jonny on the spot and took care of it. What a pleasure to have such great and caring people to work with. I would like to thank ART !!!! He lives next door. He came over and helped when the snow and ice where getting bad on the back porch. He did it out of the kindness of his heart. SO THANKS A MILLION !!!!! I and my family will be back.. For the price this is one of the best cabins we have stayed in. THANKS

Cades Cove is one of our favorite places to visit and the Knotty Pine vacation Cabin is conveniently located nearby and has easy access. This is an affordable upscale home owned by a family that is easy to work with and to contact by email or telephone throughout the rental process. The home was not a disappointment... and even nicer than the photos show. It is clean and tastefully decorated and has many added features to make you feel at home. We appreciate the pet friendly option since we travel with our small dog. We enjoyed our recent October visit very much...the mountain views from this home are fabulous. We would not hesitate to return to this home on another visit to Townsend and would certainly recommend it to others.

I have been to Townsend area many times but have never enjoyed my stay as much as when I rented this cabin! You were very helpful in planning our time in the area and your home had everything we could have wanted and more! The children enjoyed the movies and games and we used the hiking books to plan our time in the park. The soap and shampoo in the bathrooms were a nice treat! We loved having a bathroom in each bedroom! We will be back again!
Owner response:Thank you for your kind words! We work hard to make sure our home is the perfect get away for our guests! We want you to feel like you are at your own cabin in the Smokies, not just our guest! I hope you will let us serve you again the next time you can come and enjoy our mountains!

Knotty Pines is a lovely, well-maintained, immaculately clean home. The entire house is wood and glass, so there are beautiful views from every room, especially from the front deck. Nice kitchen, pretty bathrooms with plenty of clean fluffy towels, and spacious bedrooms with really comfortable beds and more than enough dresser / closet space. Tastefully decorated throughout and really clean (already mentioned this but it deserves repeating). Nice size TV in the living room and the internet access was great. Hot tub was a fun way to relax after hiking in the Park (Knotty Pines is about 10 mins. from the Townsend entrance.) Decent size grocery store less than 10 mins. away. If you drive to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Dollywood, you will appreciate the peace and quiet of returning to Townsend. Recommend visiting the Tuckaleechee Caverns; only about 15 mins. away and a great way to spend a few hours.

Thanks to the owners of Knotty Pine Cabin we had a lovely stay. Your cabin was so clean and beautiful. It was everything and more you told us it would be. We sat each morning and watched the deer in the yard and watched the sunset each night. The mountain view from each bedroom was breathtaking!! Your kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals which saved us a lot of money. Being so closed to the national park and Cades Cove was a delight. The kids went tubing and loved it. We used the pool which was wonderful to cool us off. The hottub was a treat for the whole family. The kids loved the gameroom, the tv's in each bedroom and the movie library was enjoyed by all. You all were so helpful in helping us plan our vacation. We love being close to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge for activities during the day but its great to come back to the cabin on the quiet side of the smokies. The bike trail in Townsend was so much fun. This was the best family vacation we have taken and will return each year to your cabin. You all are doing a wonderful job with your cabin rental. Thanks again.

Knotty Pine was a dream come true. I brought my mother, daughter and friend. Everyone had a wonderful time, even the 21 year olds!!!! They loved riding bikes in townsend and spending some time in the hottub at night. They even played games in the loft!! We watched the sunset each evening from our deck. We grilled out each day on the grill and the wonderful kitchen had everything we needed. The place was emaculate. Thanks also to the owners for helping us plan things to do in the area. That was so helpful. We all hated leaving. We have talked about planning another stay in the fall. Everything was better than we expected!!!

Me, my husband, my niece (20) and my mother stayed in this cabin from April 22nd-25th, 2009. I cannot describe to you how beautiful this cabin is! We saw deer every single morning sitting on the deck. We even saw a beaver. Having our own bathrooms was so nice. The place was spic-n-span, and it looked like a new home! It had everything we needed, EVEN a hairdryer for my niece! (Haha) My mother has always wanted to go to the Smokey Mountains and I wanted to make that happen while she was still young enough to enjoy it. We flew down to Memphis from Phoenix to get her and off we went on a scenic drive. She is STILL talking about how wonderful the trip was, how beautiful her room was, and how we made her dream she thought she'd never live to see come true. The owner of this cabin went above and beyond the call of duty helping us plan for this stay. He even offering advice on where to eat and all of that good stuff. My mother already wants to know if she can go again for her birthday in October. (LOL...sorry Mom, I think it's going to be a little longer!) Thank you so much for all the "Southern hospitality, and for allowing US the chance to stay in this beautiful cabin! It was beyond what we were expecting for the price! We had the times of our lives. This was the first time we used Home Away and I'm so glad we did! Tracey in Phoenix.

We stayed in your home for a week and had a great time. Even though the weather was a bit cold, the clear skies gave us amazing viws, we spent hours on the deck drinking coffee and hot chocolate and watching the deer and the sunsets! We even got up for a couple of sunrises your deck has views in every direction! Thank you for getting the blender for us! We enjoyed some smoothies after it arrived. You have thought of everything to make our stay amazing and we are already planning an excuse to come back this fall to enjoy the colors!

We had a wonderful time at Knotty Pine Cabin. We are already looking at dates to come back for a longer stay! We really enjoyed the places you suggested for both hiking and eating out. Sister Cat's is our new favorite place to eat. Townsend was great and so was your cabin. The convenience of having wireless internet was very helpful so that we could keep in touch with our family. We will tell our friends and we will be back!
