Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2004
This banner photo is the view from the upper deck at sunset. I was sold in the first 5 minutes! The property overlooks Meeks Bay toward Mt. Rose (North) & glimpses of Cave Rock to the South. It's so beautiful !!! Until recently, the house was a primary residence and remodeled with modern conveniences. It has been a great decision to share the home with others.
Why the Owner Chose Meeks Bay
The Westshore of Lake Tahoe...I think that says it all! I am an avid skier/snowboarder. There is an abundance of world class terrain. We have 9 alpine ski resorts and some of the best Back Country skiing out the back door. The parking for Desolation Wilderness access is 1/2 mile down the road at Meek's Bay (Beach, Marina & Resort)for summer fun. Or drive 6.5 miles south to scenic Emerald Bay.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The downstairs bedroom is arranged more like a bunk room and serves as a second den area. There is a sofa bed, bunk beds, a single bed, TV, sleeps 4+. Great for the night owls! There is step-in hot tub access from the downstairs deck. Panoramic views galore!

Review of our stay at Meek's Bay - Traditional Lake Tahoe cabin - December 5 to 11 - 2011

My daughter picked out George’s property amongst many listed, & we were so glad she chose his property to stay at. This was our first VRBO rental, & having come from Australia, one can have some trepidation about what you are going to get, but any thoughts like this were wiped away when we arrived. The location at Meeks Bay is ideal, being quiet & scenic, away from busy South Lake Tahoe. The cabin has lovely lake & mountain views. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs with 1 bathroom & a den downstairs that sleeps 3, also with its own bathroom. The kitchen & main living area are also upstairs. There is central heating upstairs but not downstairs. It works extremely well & you will be suffocating after a few hours if you have it turned up too high. Each night we lit the fire & the downstairs was warm very quickly. The beds are lovely & comfortable, as is the lounge. The cabin is spotlessly clean. Any fussy female would be hard picked to fault the cleanliness of George’s property. Outside was a hot tub which we used once during our stay. This too was nice & clean. The kitchen is fully stocked with every item you could imagine, plus all kinds of spices for cooking. The fridge is huge ! There are 2 outside decks. At the front there is parking for 2 cars off the street but no garage. You are very close the beach at Meek’s Bay as well. Given it was the heart of Winter the local grocery stores appeared closed, so we did our grocery shopping at South Lake Tahoe & Tahoe City. The Raleigh’s in South Lake Tahoe had everything you could want. The one at Tahoe City was nearly as good. George the owner is very nice & helpful. We corresponded by email, & each time my email was promptly answered. We also spoke on the phone. I had numerous questions about Winter driving, snow chains, eating out , hiring equipment, to name some. Each time George was more than helpful in answering my questions. An ex ‘local’ George knows everything about the area & is ever so willing to impart his knowledge to a prospective renter. For us, George’s cabin was like home & we were very disappointed to leave after our 6 day stay. If you are reading this review & have any doubt’s about what you are going to get then don’t. This is the loveliest cabin around. If we ever get the chance to come back to Lake Tahoe we will hope that George’s cabin will still be available for rent. We would stay nowhere else. Do yourself a favour & experience this cabin & its location !

We enjoyed spending part of Thanksgiving week in your great cabin. As promised the views were spectacular--especially at sunrise. We immediately felt at home and found everything we needed was close at hand. The fresh snow was an added bonus. We loved the hot tub and took advantage of soaking while watching the wind flow through the trees and ripple over the lake. Thanks for stocking your kitchen with tools often not found in other rentals. The area downstairs was great for watching TV when others were ready for quiet. Your directions for everything were clear and easy to follow. We needed a restful place and this certainly filled the bill. At the same time, the location is perfect for those times when we're ready for more activity. We hope to be back again in the future! Thank you for your prompt and clear communication and especially for sharing your cabin with others!

My husband and I just returned from a stay here. It was neat, clean, and beautiful! Having stayed north and south of the lake, this was our favorite location by far. It was so relaxing, there were days we just sat around the house and relaxed on the deck enjoying the beautiful view. The colors of the sunset and stars kept us outside for hours. There is a lot of hiking in the area and beach access/rentals very close. We felt at home, and were very sad to leave. The owner is very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. I would recommend this to house to anyone that wants to visit Lake Tahoe. If we return, I would love to stay here again!

This Beautiful Cabin was perfect for our vacation with family! It had everything we were looking for and more! It was very clean, modern, comfortable beds, great kitchen for cooking, great hot tub, and very open for entertaining! It was very easy to get to. The location was perfect...a short drive to Sugar Pine State Park, Beautiful Emerald's Bay, and so much more! And the view from the upper deck took our breath away! Everything was perfect....we can't wait to come back and stay again! :)

Our stay at the Meeks Bay house surpassed all our expectations. The house is comfortable and well appointed. The bedrooms are nicely furnished and comfy. The kitchen, although small is updated and fully stocked. We didn't need a thing while cooking...it was all there! The view from the deck was lovely. The only problem we encountered was a malfunction in the hot tub but a call to George (owner) quickly remedied the situation. He patiently talked my daughter through reprogramming and it was fine. All electronics (T.V.'s, DVD player etc) have detailed operating instructions attached to them. If I had to come up with a complaint it would be the 2 inches of snow on June 7th!!! (George forewarned me) We did have a fun snowball fight! Love the area, love the house, we'll be back for sure!

We had an opportunity to stay here during our last ski trip in April 2011. George has an extremely comfortable home with a view that is almost a window to Heaven. There are all of the creature comforts of home. It affords easy access to several ski areas in the Lake tahoe area, and when the road is open, has easy access to Emerald Bay, which is a must see when in the area. The hot tub is a welcome feature, especially after some of those grueling days of skiing. It's closeness to Reno also afforded us some mix during our ski week. I look forward to booking again in the future. Thanks, George, for making us feel at home.

My family stayed at the property from the 27th of March through April 1 and had a wonderful time. The unit was spacious, had a modern working kitchen and exceptional views. The view of the lake was specatcular and was only overshadowed by the the nighttime view of the sky. The evening sky was dotted with more stars than one could imagine. I would recommend this unit for anyone looking for a relaxing rental, close to Emerald Bay and Tahoe City. We skiied Alpine Meadows Squaw Valley and Northstar in our visit and all were within a half hour or so driving.

Family was looking for a home on the West Shore close to Homewood. The house was a perfect fit. Distance was good, accessibility even with a good snow was great compared to other locations (not a lot of side streets to deal with). As indicated in previous review the house is well appointed and tastefully decorated, with a fully stocked kitchen, and the lake views are outstanding on clear days. We would gladly stay here again if available, and have recommended to friends.

My family and I were looking for a nice, secluded place for a get away ski weekend with views - George's house fit the bill perfectly. The house is very tastefully decorated, with a fully stocked kitchen, and amazing lake views from the living room and breakfast nook. The location is in Meeks Bay and is close to everything you need, but not as heavily trafficked as other W Shore areas, so it was very peaceful. The place sports a gas grill and nice size hot tub as well as balconies facing the lake on both the top and lower level. It is clear George takes pride in maintaining this property and ensuring his guest have all they need for an enjoyable get away. We will definitely book this property again!
