Our families have typically spent vacations on the shore but due to Sandy’s visit we thought we’d try the Delaware Beaches. This home is WOW! Here’s the breakdown – Last vacation - Older home – typical rental, homes close together (you can wave to neighbor in their bathroom), have to cross a busy street, crowded beaches, sales tax!, average restaurants. This home/vacation - Newer, very well maintained, beautiful furnishings, 4 acres of wetlands habitat!!, street to cross has a wide center divider - no sprinting for your life, beach across from the home is wide, clean and has lots of elbow room for our kids to play, there was no additional rental taxes on the home & no sales tax at the outlet (yay!) shopping, restaurants in the area are fantastic, varied and plentiful. We think we found the 'bug infested woods' a prior reviewer mentioned. Turns out to be a nice little strip of trees before you hit the dunes to the beach. My kids loved it and I thought it a great place to organize while keeping in the shade. Despite my son's sharp look-out (he's 9 and launched on a bug-collection binge) he was unable to locate any of the promised bugs. Ah, and I was so looking forward to going home with a beetle or two - - NOT! Getting back to the subject... The home was bright, clean and beautifully maintained. Check-in and check-out went smoothly (as smoothly as possible with hyped-up 9, 6, 5 & 3 year olds!). The views are awsome - beach one side, bay the other side. Keep the light burning for us because we have discovered a new vacation location and will be back again next year!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was a wonderful vacation for our extended family and this home was everything we had hoped for and more. Thank you for your hospitality and attention to detail – it was very much appreciated! This home is on a large parcel of land with unobstructed views of both the bay and the ocean. The early risers in our group ended up sharing coffee in the breakfast nook and watching the sun come up over the ocean. The more sensible of us elected to assemble on the rear deck overlooking the bay and watch the fantastic sunsets over cocktails. The views are amazing, the privacy is priceless. When we have rented other homes there has been little area for our kids to hang out before they are in the street. I didn’t feel I needed to watch them every second with the size of the property. The property manager rose above the call of duty when I rang her in desperation because one of the kids managed to jamb the trash compactor door closed. She personally appeared within the hour and fixed it all the while thanking us for the call. Her promise of 24/7 service was delivered graciously! Although we read in the description that the home had appeared in magazines, we still were pleasantly surprised by the quality of furnishing and décor. You could easily see that this is a home and not just another rental property. I am an architect and found myself noting the quality and details that went into this home. I hope the owner doesn’t mind if I borrow an idea or two! The beach across the street was blissfully uncrowded compared to the state beach down the road. We ended up getting a family portrait taken on the dunes by the trail to the beach. (Apparently this is a popular spot – we saw another group doing the picture thing a few days later). All in all, a wonderful stay. Thank you so much!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I am compelled to write this review after seeing the owners response to the last bad review. The walk to the beach is in fact a long one. You also have to cross four lanes of traffic with cars traveling at 55 mph, then walk through a bug infested bushy area before getting to the dunes before the beach. If you have little ones- beware. After leaving the property we were told that we broke a ceiling fan and that we had damaged a wall by slamming a door knob into it. First, how do you break a ceiling fan? Regarding the wall, we told the owner that the wall was already damaged when we arrived and that two separate adults could attest to that fact. Also, the owner should probably install a door stop to prevent a heavily used door from hitting a wall when opened. So, the owner decided to keep our security deposit. After taking the time to write a letter describing how we took great care of this home, the owner decided not to return our deposit in full. That left a very bad taste. Renter beware.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

Arrived at 1:00pm, had to wait till 3:40pm to get into the house due to cleaning. Agreement papers stated they would make every effort to get us into the house as soon as possible considering we had a 6 hr drive. House advertised "a few short steps to the beach". It turned out to be crossing a 4 lane major highway, up a narrow path and then over the dunes. It was at least a 1/4 mile long and when you are bringing beach accessories and small children it made for a very long and difficult walk. They also advertised " bay access" which in fact was the state park down the road. We expected there to be 5 bedrooms when in fact one had been converted into an office.Owner response: It is with great disappointment that I write a response to our only renter who was dissatisfied. We make every attempt both before and during the rental to respond quickly to any problems or questions that may arise. We have a dedicated property manager who is available to assist with problems or questions. The property manager's function is to respond to all emails, answer any inquiries, meet with renters at the beginning of the rental to ensure that everyone is able to operate elevators, lighting systems, hot tubs, etc. The property manger also inspects the home after each rental and will either repair or schedule for repair anything that may be damaged. Our check in time is 3 pm and we do make every effort to accommodate early checkins. However we did inform this renter that we would not be able to accommodate her requested noon checkin since the cleaners would not be done until 3pm and that there were usually minor repairs needed as the season progressed. Dispite this, the renter chose to show up early and complain about not being admitted until the 3pm checkin time. We have an aerial google map on the web site that clearly shows the location of the home on the bay. The 3 acre property offers unique and truly wonderful views of the bay and ocean. There are only 5 homes in the state of Delaware which enjoy both unobstructed beach and bay views. The home, as stated on the web page, has 5 bedrooms. In the past we have had requests for a desk for those who want to work and we added a workstation in one of the bedrooms. The bedroom sleeps two for a maximum of ten people or two in each bedroom. We regret that we were unable to keep our perfect record of satisfied renters but we will continue to strive to make every effort to ensure that you have a wonderful vacation!

First, this area is fantastic - our group was able to satisfy their diverse interests by either walking across the street to the beach or a short drive to the surrounding towns. 10 people running in 10 different directions - - relax with a book from the home’s library or play on the huge, uncrowded beach, take the kayak the owner’s supply to view the wildlife preserve in the bay behind the home, grab the controls for the Xbox and play one of the games, hop on the bikes that are in the garage and peddle up to the nearby fantastic deli, drive in either direction to hit the waterparks and putt-putt courses, or – my favorite – head up to the tax-free shopping outlets and grab a bite in one of Rehoboth’s fabulous restaurants! For us, crossing a road was not an issue to get to the beach. It actually turned out to be a major benefit – the area is state park and only accessible if you have an annual car beach pass. Much nicer than when we rented in Ocean City or Bethany with the crowded beaches and over-abundance of rules and regulations! Our family can’t say enough about the home – very upscale and very comfortable. We’ve rented other large homes in the area before and found the décor and furnishings of this home to be in an entirely different league - - more along the lines of a 6 star resort rather than a large home that’s set-up primarily to be a rental. You can definitely see the care given to the home and understand why the owners only open the home to the public a limited number of weeks a year. The property manager was very helpful. We definitely had a ‘red-carpet’ feeling starting from her initial contact. The welcome basket and orientation she gave us when we checked in was a nice touch and she was very helpful with ‘hidden gem’ restaurants that we hadn’t tried yet (even though we’ve vacationed here for the past 6 years). Beautiful home – great service! We’ll see you next year!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Bethany Beach is a great location for a family vacation, plenty to do with nice beaches. The house is big and nicely furnished with great bay views off the back deck. This house is not on the beach, as you need to cross over a pretty busy road. Another note is the beach is a state park that allows truck access (permit only). We had a great week and especially enjoyed sunsets on the back deck.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

This home was truly the answer to my prayers...when my son announced he was being married in Rehoboth Beach we could not find a home for our family, the Rehearsal Dinner and that was available for a midweek rental. Even though the weekend weather didn't cooperate the dinner was a huge success...the house lends itself to entertaining. The views are unsurpassed... plenty of parking space, which is rare in a beach community, and the home was a wonderful respite the day after the wedding, for relaxing, bird watching and beach bumming. Thank you for sharing this lovely, one of a kind home. We look forward to staying here again when our days are less planned. The bride and groom said the Rehearsal Dinner was exactly as they had dreamed it would be!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The 2 living areas worked well with our family reunion – the kids were entertained for hours with the X-box and the large TV in the mid-level living room while the adults could relax and socialize in the upper living room. The only problem was the over-abundance of premium TV channels – we almost lost one of our ‘potatoes’ to the couch! We all agreed that the views from all the decks and the windows is singular! There truly is no other property in this or the Maryland area that gives you both ocean and bay views and easy access to both. Thanks for the use of the bikes, beach equipment and the kayak – all of us were able to indulge in playing until exhaustion. We’ll be back next year.Owner response: We are excited at having so many repeat guests!
