Beautiful home, with an amazing oceanview. Stayed with a group of 6 adults and 2 children ages 1 and 4. House definately not child proof, as had to move breakables to higher locations, place ties around forbidden cupboards, and take knives out of lower drawers. Despite that, kid friendly. The master bedroom is amazing! The 2nd room upstairs only has a bath, but good for kids. Third bedroom upstairs very nice. All three rooms upstairs have view of ocean. Bedroom downstairs has no view, but nice. All but master bedroom have very small tv. Master had nice flat screen. Living area also has flat screen, but seating limited, so if all of us wanted to be downstairs watching together we would have to bring chairs from the dining table. Comfortably fit 5 on the couch and two recliners they currently have there. A sectional would be a great improvement. Had to contact property management once as downstairs air conditioner not working. Received prompt call in return, and although he did not have immediate answer, he contacted property owner and called us back within minutes with information needed to get it working again. Great location. Well stocked home. Will reserve this home again for future Big Island vacations.

This is a beautiful property that sits right on the ocean. The waves crashing on the lava rocks are literally right outside. The location was perfect. It's just a short drive to restaurants and shopping, but far enough away so we felt secluded.

The House was amazing.... Seeing the sunrise with Dolphins playing and activity on the water from every room in the house was spectacular.... We enjoyed every moment of our vacation and the time spent at the house... All the helpful tips from the book about the area was nice... The only bummer was no pool and a lil drive to a beach, but we survived... I would definately return and recommend booking this place... I am even using some of the designs in my own home remodel...

The Hale Papa Kea property is a great location close to Kailua-Kona but far enough away to not be too busy. The sound of the waves crashing on the rocks in the back of the house is unbelievably relaxing. The house was well supplied with all the needed amenities. The one thing I would suggest is the addition of some furniture in the living room and a larger dining table. The house has a 4 wonderful bedrooms which suggests that at least 8 people probably occupy it on a normal rental. The one problem is the dining table only seats 4. The kitchen island seats 3 and the table on the lani seats 4. There is no place for everyone to sit together. The living room has a sectional, but that is the only piece of furniture. It would be nice to add a chair, etc. for more seating. The property is great and by no means does this detract from the quilty and location. We had a great time and would recommend it.

My family loved this home. You have an amazing ocean view from pretty much every inch of this home. It was very clean and well maintained. I would recommend this home to anyone, who would love a stay in a amazing private home and have a truely relaxing Hawaiian experience. I can't wait to go back! Thanks.

We cannot say enough about how great this house was for our group. For two weeks over the Christmas holiday, we had two overlapping groups of 8 and 9 people with us...all age groups. We all live in different states and countries and met here for some quality family time. There was something for everyone. The pictures do not really show how open this house is, and the spaces and views are outstanding. Our favorite part was the lanai...we saw everything-whales, dolphins, surfers, outiggers, swimmers, even the fish from above! Though we made the most of trekking the Big Island, it was wonderful to come "home" and know that we would be totally satisfied if we never left--some didn't--and just sat out on the lanai (or on the little beach) watching the sunsets, stars and the world go by. Thank you for a trip well worth the effort. We would rent again and highly recommend it!!!!

Hale Papa Kea is a very well maintained house with a great location. You are close enough to all activities yet private enough to get away from it all. The sound of the relaxing surf is great to go to sleep and wake up to. The four bedrooms and bathrooms are all very nice. The one slight drawback seems to be a lack of furniture suitable for a 4 bedroom house. Since 4 bedrooms would probably mean about 8 people, the one drawback was that there was only one sectional in living room and a dining room table that seated 4 people. We had to split up seating for meals at the dining room table, Lanai, and kitchen island. The addition of a couple of chairs in the living room and a larger dining table would make for seating of all in a party of 8. The house is in a great location for short trips to great beaches, snorkeling, sightseeing, hiking, fishing, shopping and dining. You are also close enough for day trips to Volcano National Park, Hilo, etc. The view of the sunsets off the Lanai are spectacular. Great overall property. I would recommend it.
