This place has everything you need for a relaxing get away. Creek is right out the back door. They are super pet friendly with a nicely fenced yard and just ask that you pick up after your pups. Look forward to next year.

We had a fantastic time at the Fish Inn. The house was perfect for our group of 5 plus our dog and included everything we needed. We really enjoyed ourselves especially the fishing. It was great that the creek was so close as we just went out the back gate and hiked up river. It was perfect and Joann and Ray were great. We'll be back!

We had a fantastic time at the Fish Inn. The house was perfect for our group of 5 plus our dog and included everything we needed. We really enjoyed ourselves especially the fishing. It was great that the creek was so close as we just went out the back gate and hiked up river. It was perfect and Joann and Ray were great. We'll be back! Thanks again to Ray and Joann for a wonderful, relaxing weekend. Troy, our 3 kids and I all caught so many fish, Troy catching his biggest one ever( It was 3-4 lbs. and about 22" long). The weather was perfect and the cabin was sooo comfy. It is so nice to go to a place where you feel so welcome that you don't want to go home:)We will back as soon as we can!!!!!

June 9 -12 2012 was the third visit for my fiend Bob & I. We started in 2010 – see my review “Cabin or Cottage?” 06/26/2010 – and looked forward to returning each year. This year I brought my 5.5 year old grandson. This was our first overnight experience together and I am happy to say we both ‘survived.’ The in cabin Dish TV helped two old guys temper the boundless energy of this boy for part of the time. But it was the fishing bug that secured his eternal(?) interest in fishing, and returning to Fish Inn. He caught 7 fish in two days on Hat Creek. I was shocked, amazed and thrilled. My friend & I and I have never had more fun fishing without wetting a line, or our pants. Joann & Ray are great people and have just the right sense for how much external attention their guest desire. The cabin is flawless and maintained in an impeccable manner. You will not be disappointed when spending a few days at Fish Inn. Recommended for:Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

This is a great place to get away and enjoy the peacefulness of the Hat Creek area. The owners are great and the cabin is clean, comfortable, cozy and well maintained. This really felt like a home away from home! I just wish we could have stayed longer! There is plenty of fishing just out the back door, or hop in your car and there are plenty of fishing holes to discover in the area. If JJ's cafe is open, you need to go and eat there, and make it a point to try his pastries! If you are feeling adventerous, go check out the Subway Cave just down the road, it's an old lava flow tube...bring a flashlight. We have been coming up to this area for over 20 years and this is a great place to stay! We will hopefully be returning soon! Thanks Joann & Ray for a wonderful vacation home!

We stayed here for our first family outing with our new Granddaughter who is 6 months old. Everything was fabulous. Home away from home except the national forrest is right out the back gate and the creek is just 30 yards or so from the house. The guys caught fish and the moms got to hang out with the baby.

This house is hands down the BEST place to stay in Old Station! We just arrived home form our second trip to the Fish Inn. Not only aare the hosts fantastic, the house itself is warm, cozy, quiet, and clean! You will not be sorry that you stayed here. Our kids loved it also! They loved running around, exploring, fishing. Yet, the house also has all the comforts of home with Dish TV and a DVD player. The WI-FI access is great also! A big thank you to Ray and JoAnn who always make us feel welcome!

The best hostess couple ever!

We had a wonderful time here with our little dachshund Mollie. Joann and Ray were the super host you would hope to have. Their remodeled cabin is complete!! There is so much to see and do that time flies so quickly. You can't go wrong staying here.

We had an absolute wonderful 6 day stay at Fish Inn. The house is extremely clean, well maintained and comfortable. If you decide to stay here we don’t think you’ll be disappointed. We had a great time hiking in Lassen National Park (Bumpass Hell, Cinder Cone, Devils Kitchen, Terminal Geyser, etc., etc., etc.) kayaking around Butte Lake and fishing Hat Creek (behind Fish Inn). Caught a lot of fish – loads of fun catching (and releasing) them. After some long and tiring days (hiking & kayaking) it was great to come back to the house to relax, cook dinner and just plain relax some more. If you do stay at Fish Inn, you’ve got to go to JJ’s for breakfast – the food tastes great and you will not go away hungry – guaranteed! Many thanks to Ray & Joanne – they are great hosts and great people, very friendly and make you feel at home. A special thanks to Drue (another great guy) for letting me fish from his property! Looking forward to another stay at Fish Inn in the future!

Owner response: We were really impressed with George and Cindy - they hiked more of Lassen Park in the time they were here than we have in 13 years. And there is still snow in the Park! This is a beautiful year, and promises to be a lovely fall. And JJ's does serve an excellent breakfast - John is a baker and makes his own breads and pastries.

I have been staying in this area for 14 years, and truly...this was the best vacation ever!!! This location has it all...the comforts of home with a rustic nature and beautiful views. The creek is right out the back gate of the cottage. Very lovely cottage, and lovely hosts. A great 10 day stay, I'll be back to the Fish Inn. Oh yeah... the fishing was phenomenal, 4lb 8oz trout. Thanks Ray & Joann, for the wonderful vacation!

Fish ON at Fish Inn

Ray warmly greeted us upon our arrival and familiarized us with the place. Each morning we and our dogs would pass he and his dogs on the way back from fishing just behind the cabin. The Fish Inn provides a warm, and comfortable place to rest in between hiking, fishing, and sight seeing. The backyard was perfect for our two dogs to frolick while we spent time at less dog-friendly areas...it was a relief to know they were safe and happy in their home-away-from-home, as were we. Truth be known, the dogs had as good a time at Fish Inn as we did! The proximity of Fish Inn to nearby sights was awesome. Each day we would head in a different direction and be home before sunset! We truly felt right at home, and so comfortable at this little cabin in the woods. (The photos do not do it justice.) AND.... We highly recommend JJs down the street for breakfast or lunch and baked goods. Thanks to our perfect hosts, for lovely vacation. Suzanne & Don

What a perfect cottage in the woods! If you're visiting the Lassen area, Fish Inn is centrally located to great hiking, the National Park, and other volcanic points of interest in the Lassen area. It's wonderfully set up for relaxation and enjoyment of the outdoors, with the National Forest just out the back gate and Hat Creek a hundred or so yards away. The cottage was very comfortably furnished, with homey touches and lots of natural light. Our family loved waking up to views of the sun streaming through the branches of the Ponderosa pines, fishing in Hat Creek, reading on the front and back decks, and making s'mores in the fire pit. It's a great spot to be active or do nothing at all.

Words cannot describe just how incredible Fish Inn really is. The pictures on the website provide a general idea but the place is awesome. A bonding family experience for us all, including our two beagles. Joann and Ray were the best and most hospitable hosts who have thought of everything to have their guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Having the Lassen National Forest on the other side of your back fence literally is a treat. The fishing is incredible and we are already planning our trip back to Fish Inn next year, 2011. Fish Inn is cozy, clean and Joann and Ray make themselves available to you 24/7, but again you'll find everything you need right at Fish Inn. A convenience store is located just across the highway for quick needs or an ice-cream treat if you visit in the summer. Ray will give you the low down on all the local places to eat; and brochures and maps are all provided at Fish Inn for your convenience. There is a lot to see and do for everyone's interests, it's a beautiful place to visit and once you do, I can assure you it won't be the last time. Have fun!

What a beautiful home and a peaceful place to stay. We felt so welcome and at home by not only Ray and Joann but by all the neighbors as well(especially Drue:).We spent 4 days at the Fish inn and did not want to go home. Ray tied flies for our sons and brought over the latest fishing reports, and fishing was only a minute away out the back gate.Our boys caught fish every day and we all had the time of our life.Thank you Ray and Joann for a time we will always remember, we made some very special memories here and we will be back soon.....

Wanting to surpise my husband for his 50th birthday, i decided to take him to where he spent his childhood summers and where we had spent so many of our summers up in old station fishing Hat Creek..i was looking for a place to stay and had stayed at the other lodges in the area, but was looking for something different.. a lot nicer..and boy did i hit the mark with the Fish Inn. Clean, Comfortable,Quiet are just a few words to describe this "cabin". nicely decorated, comfortable furniture, the pictures only hiat at how nice a place this is!! . Ray and Joanne are the best hosts. I am so impressed that i am writing this review as i sit out on the front porch enjoy the view, We still have another day and 1/2 here, time has just gone by so quickly.. So when coming back would be stay here again,, the answer is why would we stay anywhere else!!!!!

Cabin or Cottage?

Hi Ray & Joann -- Bob & I very much enjoyed our stay in your superb 'cabin.' I think cabin in this case is a misnomer: Cabin: o - small room on a ship or boat where people sleep, o - a small house built of wood; usually in a wooded area while your lovely lodging is indeed in a wooded area and people sleep there, that hardly downgrades this dwelling to a cabin. Perhaps cottage is more accurate: o- a cottage is a modest dwelling, typically in a rural, or semi-rural location. In any case, in our more than 30 years of visiting & staying in the Hat Creek area, we have never experienced the high quality of a dwelling like that offered by Fish Inn Cabin. The spacious and airy accommodations were immaculately kept with all, and more, of the conveniences of any place we have previously stayed. Add to this the warmth and welcome offered by two very nice people, and staying at the Fish Inn Cabin because a most delightful experience. We will return in future years, to enjoy both your lovely property and developing a lasting friendship with two wonderful people. --len & Bob

My husband and I spent a couple of nights here during Thanksgiving week. The Fish Inn was great – had all the amenities we could need. We found information on local sights and activities available in the inn as well as board games and reading material. The owners, Ray and Joann, are welcoming and seem to have thought of everything to make visitors feel comfortable. We recommend this inn and we would definitively go back again.

Robert and I and our grandson, Jalen, spent a fabulous week at Fish Inn. The cabin is cute, clean and efficient. Nearby Hat Creek is right out the back gate. Our grandson even pulled a 21" brook trout out on our last day - his first fish ever! The owners, Joann and Ray, right next door, couldn't be more accommodating. It's a great place! Bring your fishing pole!
