If your goal in visiting Mexico is to experience a new culture, learn to enjoy life and recreate yourself, I believe you will here in our casita. A morning coffee sitting near the fish pond with the sound of the waterfall, a trip into town to take in the sights, sounds and tastes of Old Mexico is sure to revitalize any sagging spirit. Spend a quite time alone on the veranda and feed the humming birds and a few bread crumb for the fish, read or write a book, walk in the nearby botanical garden or plan a Mexican adventure, you have many to select. In the late afternoon a dip in the pool and a margarita to watch the sunsets is the best "Mexican" medicine you could want. Every Tuesday near our property there is a traditional tent covered open market where we replenish our supplies of fresh and exotic fruits and vegetables for very little money
If you have a love in your life this is a wonderful place to share with them. If you do not it is a wonderful place to find one.
San Miguel de Allende is a unique and wonderful place. Thereare many four star restaurants in town and many street vender's with local dishes. An evening stroll in the Jardin in the center of town is a community experience and you are part of the community, (the children will probably stay up later than you will). Music, Dancing, Parades, Fireworks... Mexicans really know how to have a fiesta. There is a very interesting library (the Bibleoteca) that offers not only a grand selection of books but also lectures, Spanish lessons, world class movies and entertainment. It is also the place to meet you fellow ex pat's. I am sure you will make many friends when you visit Mexico. Enjoy yourself

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1997
One winter in the late 80's our sculpture studio in New York burned down. We had no place to work and it was a deeply cold winter. An ad on TV said "Come To The Warmth Of Mexico"...so we did it. It has been an adventure ever since. We live and work in our new studio in Mexico every winter and return to our New York studio in the spring. We love it very much here in Mexico and feel blessed. We wish to share it with like minded people who would like to be rejuvenated by the warmth of the people and the country. The Studio fire was a tragic event for us but it opened a whole new world. It also gave us our grand daughter Shantal. Viva Mexico!
Why the Owner Chose Balcones
This will one day become our retirement home. It is an international city for artists and creative people and offers a remarkable variety of theater, concerts, galleries and public entertainment. The local community is very welcoming to the Americans and there is a helpful exchange between the two cultures. Plus, I've never been a good student in school, but now I do greatly enjoy learning to speak Spanish ... and the Mexicans are very forgiving of my errors, (or perhaps they are too polite to say anything about how bad I am..Here you don't just watch life go by ... you participate in life.
The Unique Benefits of this
One of the major benefits of our house is its close location to a 300 acre botanical garden just a stroll away from our front door. A large shopping mall with a supermarket and a 10 theater cinema is about four blocks in the other direction. Our home is located in a quite neighborhood above the town, with clean air and plenty of parking. We also have a swimming pool, which is a great way to end the day, refreshed with a margarita in hand. The little fish pond attracts many birds and if the hummingbird feeder runs out, they come and tell you to fill it. I have written a six page "Tenants Handbook" that can be very helpful in learning how to get around town and what to look for. I can send a copy to you by e mail or snail mail, just give me your address.
