We gathered here for a large family reunion and found the house and scenery even more beautiful than the pictures suggest. The owners have thought of many small touches that make your stay comfortable and fun. We had three young children among the nine adults and they had fun exploring the back yard, playing with the electric cars in the back, sitting on the dock, playing with the toys, and reading books. There are many different rooms to gather in, and yet we all felt "together" because of the open floor plan. Everything was in good condition and very clean when we arrived. What a lovely place for special getaways!

We rented the home for our family reunion...ages 9 - 72,,,the home was perfect for everyone. Plenty of space for everyone...beautiful, fun lake with dock to enjoy incredible sunrises and sunsets. Huge deck to seat everyone for dinner... big kitchen....pool table was a fun bonus. Would return for another trip in a second. Loved to watch the deer cross the yard each morning!

Everything is as described, and the house is a perfect place for a family vacation for all ages. The lake is clean and surprisingly warm. This is a perfect place for weddings, family gatherings, and just plain enjoying the beauty of the lake and the mountains.

This home was perpect for the two families that got together for the 1st time in many years. The home had plenty of room for our group of 4 adults, 4 older chioldren, and 1 young child. The home and the amenities are first class. We were out of the house most of the daytime hours exploring the Seattle and Vancouver area but it was always great to come back and relax to such a spacious home.

Sorry about being so slow about doing this, but better late than never. Me and my family visited from Norway for a little over 4 week. Being 7 of us(that don't live under the same roof daily) we need a place with lost of space in and out side. This was a dream come true, everybody had a great time and loved the house. Jamie was great with helping us with everything. We enjoyed the lake, dock and all the water toys. The 2 youngest loved the electric cars, they had a lot of fun with them as we did watching them. Thank you again Kathryn for memories that we will have with us rest of our lives. I certainly would recommend to everybody.

It's a lovely house in a gorgeous, quiet setting on a lake. We used it for a family gathering and it was perfect, except for the weather!

We were looking for a place to have our wedding. We wanted a nice place with a lawn for the reception, and a view over water for the ceremony. We also wanted a place for our two families, flying in from around the world, to stay at for a week prior to the wedding. We found all this at this lakefront house on Lake Joy. We had a great team spending the week at the house with our families - with plenty of activities on the lake and in nearby Seattle. The wedding ceremony and party also went great. We couldn't have been happier.

The property was absolutely wonderful and everyone had a terrific time. The kids loved the kayaking and the Wii, the adults loved the natural setting and quiet location to spend long hours catching up. We intended to spend a lot of time exploring Puget Sound, but the house and lake were so wonderful we didn't leave the property once during our stay. Would book this property again in a heartbeat. Thanks so much, Kay, for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful, clean home on gorgeous property. The name of the lake, Joy, is the perfect name. Our group had such a relaxing, peaceful time. Great communication from the owners, they included wonderful directions, restaurants and activities in the area. Thank you! Highly recommend.

"The pictures don't do this home justice! The interior of the home is pristine and very well maintained. It is just breathtaking and the master bedroom is glorious with it's jetted tub.The grounds were immaculate and every morning we woke up to the sound of ducks on the lake. We had access to paddleboats and life jackets which my kids and grandkids loved. It became cool at night and we were pleased to know that most of the rooms had a fireplace. There were flowers everywhere and the surrounding properties were lovely too. We did not eat at local restaurants as we had a wonderful, fully stocked kitchen to cook in. We did venture into Mukelteo to eat at Ivars and to hop a ferry to Whidby Island. The Albertsons in Carnation made a graduation cake that was beautiful and they had a lot of fresh produce to chooses from. I brought my family here from NM to celebrate my son's college graduation. He said it was the best graduation present ever. This was the best vacation we ever had and we hated to leave."

Our stay at this house at Lake Joy was exceptional. It is such a beautiful home. Right when you walk into the house, you have a great view of the lake. The big windows and the layout make for a very spacious feel. The view of the backyard/lake from the upstairs bedrooms/sundecks is wonderful. We loved the layout of the master bedroom/bathroom. It had a jetted tub and a fireplace, which was fantastic. The very spacious shower with the two shower-heads was awesome. Very comfortable bed. We awoke to beautiful sunrises. One morning as the sun rose over the lake we saw a family of deer in the distance. I got some pretty amazing pictures. The house is equipped with everything you would need to cook and eat. The house is very well stocked. There are a lot of things to do that come with the house: a piano, pool table, ping pong, air hockey, many board games, and a vast selection of movies to watch. Life jackets are provided. A pedal boat, which we made use of everyday. Kayaks. We were in the lake every day; it was a lot of fun. The private dock on the lake has a table/chairs and is a great spot to hangout. The backyard is big and is very well kept. The house is in a good area. We went for a walk and were able to pick berries from bushes along the roads. The house is convenient to everything. Gas station, grocery store, etc. is close by. Downtown Seattle is not that far away. We were able to go check out a Seattle Mariners game on one of the days and do some shopping. Our experience overall was a 10 out of 10. The home owner/caretaker was very accommodating and was there for us if we had any questions. We still think about our stay here all the time. We highly recommend it to everybody. We can't wait to go back!

My family and I were delighted with this beautiful and very comfortable house. The gardens were lovely, the rooms well appointed, and the kitchen extraordinarily well equipped; we could not have asked for more. We took full advantage of the kayaks, pedal boats, swings, pool and ping pong tables, the CD and DVD players as well as the children's art table, books and toys as we had children from age 18 months to 19 and adults who enjoyed the activities as well. The quiet, swimable lake and the spacious lawn added greatly to our enjoyment. This spot was a wonderful place for our family who traveled from six different states to be gather together for enjoyment of one another.

This house at Lake Joy was perfect as a home base for our family as we were both vacationing and preparing for a family wedding. The house provided a lovely setting for the pre-wedding shower, as well as an afternoon of assembling flower arrangements. In between wedding festivities everyone enjoyed swimming, kayaking, pedal-boating on Lake Joy. The house itself couldn't have been lovelier nor better suited our needs. It was really very completely equipped, including life vests, lake towels, and bikes. What a lovely place to spend a few days! Both the owner and manager seemed very interested to make sure our stay was perfect.

We had the privilege of spending several wonderful days in this home on Lake Joy. The home is beautifully decorated and comfortably furnished. The living area is spacious and has panoramic views of this wonderful little lake. There are several decks, all of which have views across the nicely landscaped back yard which leads to the lake shore, and is is great place to relax and enjoy the waterfront. The house is located near the cute little towns of Carnation and Duvall, which have some restuarants and a few charming little shops, and convenient to Seattle. I would recommend this home as a place to get away from the city and enjoy a quiet peaceful atmosphere. We loved our time there!

The ultimate escape to a mountainous retreat on the lake. We stayed at Lake Joy in July and August and traveled through the eucalyptis scented hills to find the most amazing weather. The temperature is perfect and the days are so long that we see light until 10pm. The house has large windows and decks overlooking the lake and the trees are accented with memorable sunsets. As we took our morning walk around the lake, we picked fresh berries and talked about swimming and boating on the lake after eating breakfast on the deck. The house is well decorated with a spacious feel. All of the amenities that we needed were available, making for a very comfortable stay. After enjoying the relaxing days and evenings, we ventured out to discover the country town of Carnation which takes me back in time. Seattle is an hour away where Pike's Market provides an unusual shopping experience that leaves you wanting to return. You must try the Logonberry perserves from locally grown berries. We also visited Bainbridge Island for lunch and Orca Island (where many artists live and the whale watching is remarkable), both accessable by Ferry. We hope to return to hike in the mountains and to enjoy the quiet afternoons and evenings. The children enjoyed swimming off the beach, boating, playing around the floating dock (with a slide and a diving board). There is also a playhouse next to the house and plenty of room to play in the back yard. We highly recommend this as an experience that will leave you wanting to return.
Owner response:The floating platform with diving board and slide refernced above is in the middle of the lake available for neighborhood use (at your own risk). Lots of fun for kids!

I traveled from the east coast with my family to stay in this home, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The place is spacious and sunny, well-decorated and immaculate, with many conveniences. We enjoyed the comfortable beds, the great lake view, and the pleasant atmosphere. We had fun swimming and boating, and especially walking around the lake and picking berries. The nearby town of Carnation is charming, and there is plenty to do in Seattle. This is a perfect home for a relaxing and wholesome vacation.
