A unique luxury holiday experience in Catalonia.
San Bartomeo de Torres is a small former priory with an attached 12th century Ermita (Chapel). Up to the 15th century it was a Benedictine Priory, where according to historical records, one of the thorns from Christ’s crown was kept for 150 years. When the Benedictine monks abandoned the property the relic was moved and can be seen today in the nearby church at our local village of Vilavenut.
SITUATION:
San Bartomeo de Torres has grounds of about two hectares and is set in the heart of rolling countryside - its elevated position provides panoramic views of Mount Rocacorba across the valley and the Pyrenees in the distance. Although secluded it has superb access. Six minutes away from Banyoles with its lake and twenty minutes from medieval Girona with excellent shopping, restaurants, culture and Catalan cuisine.
Barcelona airport is just over an hour from us. Girona airport with schedule Ryanair flights from the UK every day is only 25 minutes distant. Within forty minutes you can be on the beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava, walking in the volcanic park and natural reserves of Garrotxa, or visiting the beautiful fortified town of Besalu and the Dali museum in Figueres.

We purchased the property in 2002 and have restored it in sympathy with the original architecture using traditional materials, incorporating modern facilities in the interiors to provide the highest standards of easy living and comfort.
