Why the Owner Chose Estes Park
This Location for a vacation would be one where I would want to come back to every year.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The views are incredible! The light is always changing, and the summer sunsets are glorious! Wildlife is abundant in this quiet, rural area. We have seen all kinds of animals, including badger, red fox, mountain lion, and bear. Elk and deer are common, and the birds sing sweetly in the forest. Hiking or brisk walks are just out the door and very inspiring. Town is just a few minutes away, offering a farmer's market in the summer, plenty of diversions, Lake Estes, and shopping. Of course, nature is all around, but if you are interested in entering the famous Rocky Mountain National Park, it is very nearby. It's no secret why so many families consider Estes Park their favorite annual getaway.
3266 H Bar G Rd. North on Dry Gulch, Turn East at the "T". Take second right and drive through the 12"x12" Timber entry. Take first right and 1/4 mi up gravel drive.

Hello! We're Mark and Meghan Theiss. We designed and built this home ourselves in 2006. We have lived in Estes Park for 7 years and love the mountains and all they have to offer. We also enjoy the casual, friendly town of Estes Park. We have put so much of ourselves into this home, caring for it as if it was our own home, actually it is part of the time. We know you'll enjoy staying at The Sanctuary. Thanks for stopping in!

Wow- what an amazing home in an amazing setting! Unlike most of the homes down in the valley of Estes Park, this is perched up at a higher elevation on a generous property, resulting in indescribable views. New, clean and welcoming, this custom home has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Special touches include a kid sized playhouse furnished with toys in one of the rooms, and an excellent sound system in the home theater. Expansive decks capture the view, a fire pit is perfect for s'more making, and there is plenty of bedding to accomodate even more than suggested in the listing. The young family who own the home are friendly and helpful. They suggested we hike to Gem Lake. The trailhead is nearby with free parking, outside RMNP, but the majority of the trail is inside the park. It's uphill and rocky, but our group including 4 little ones in backpacks and a grandma, loved it. Nice boulder climbing is right outside the door as well! What a wonderful, all too short, vacation!!

We really enjoyed our stay, the property was exactly as advertised - huge amount of living space, very modern kitchen and bathrooms, well decorated interior. Views from the property were fantastic, quiet/secluded location but still a short drive from town. There were only two of us there for the week, but the house could easily accommodate 8+ comfortably. The owner was extremely helpful and responsive, could not have asked for more.

The home is all that is shown in the pictures and more. We had 16 people ages 2 thru 63. The views from the house are breath taking! With 16 we never felt crowded. The large dining table seated 10 and the smaller table seated 6. The kitchen is a great place to congregate and prepare family meals. The kids had a blast with their bicycles on the large asphalt parking area. It was great to be secluded and surrounded with beauty and yet only about 5 minutes to town and another 5 to enter the Rocky Mtn Nat Park!

We really enjoyed our stay here July 26-August 2, 2009. The house has incredible views. Looking out the windows was like looking at a post card! The house is very comfortable, clean, and well kept up. The house was stocked with plenty of extra items that made our stay even more comfortable. The owners were very easy to contact and went out of their way to help us. We would highly recommend this property.

My family recently stayed at this property and it was exceptional in every way. The house itself is beautiful, wonderfully decorated and of very high quality construction. The pictures on the website give an accurate representation of the house and there are even more rooms that are equally as nice. (The pictures of the views don't do it justice - you have to see it in person.) The house comfortably accomodated 16 of us ranging in age from 3-76. There were toys and a playhouse for little ones, pool/ping pong tables and video entertainment for the teens, and plenty of places to relax and socialize for adults. The kitchen is perfect for group cooking and socializing and was well equipped. The location is ideal because while you're in the house you feel secluded and enjoy breathtaking views, however, the town is only about a 7 minute drive so groceries and all conveniences are nearby. A short hike on the property rewards you with even better views and is easy enough for kids to do but interesting enough for experienced hikers. Finally, the property owner couldn't have been nicer or more willing to help out with not only the house details but also general planning for our trip. I highly recommend this property!
