"Ella May's Hilltop Cottage" is a charming cottage located in the heart of Spanish Wells, Bahamas where all you need is a bicycle or a golf cart to get around, and just steps away from stores, restaurants, beaches a quaint little Museum, and of course the Quilt Shop where you'll meet two of the most charming ladies on the Island still making their hand made quilts.
This cottage offers one bedroom with a Queen size bed and one bedroom with 2 twin beds, A beautiful tile bathroom and also an outdoor shower on a large patio that overlooks the harbor. A fully-equipped kitchen, laundry room complete with a washer and dryer, cable TV, full central A/C... and much much more. The cottage is located at the top of a hill with lovely landscaping that is filled with tropical flowering shrubs and mature fruit trees where renters can pick their own fresh fruits in season.
All conveniences and amenities are available. There is terrific snorkeling, kite surfing, and bone fishing in the area and a number of local guides for deep sea fishing, or you may wish to go out on your own. I stayed for eight days with 3 additional friends and we all vowed to return ASAP. Great people, excellent place to refill your life force with positive emotions.

Thank you Roxie, Salle, and everyone on Spanish Wells for making my birthday trip one of the best ever. The house is exactly as described, clean, and the kitchen is well equipped for cooking. We didn't use the A/C at all during the trip, but it does work well if you feel the need. We walked everywhere rather than rent a cart and that worked great for us. I would probably look into getting bikes next time just to save time to the main grocery store and Kathy's bakery. The only negative I could think of for this location is that it is next to the harbor and everyone starts work around 8am, which can get noisy if you are a light sleeper. And there are roosters in the neighbor's yard. This didn't really bother us too much though. Spanish Wells is a true town and not a tourist area, yet everyone is friendly and willing to help if you need it. It kind of feels like you've gone to visit your favorite aunt in a small New England fishing village, except you can see the turquoise water when you look out. Most everything for shopping and eating is on the east half of the island, while the west half is mostly residential and quiet beach. I would definitely recommend getting a boat or taking a day tour with one of the many local guides and exploring the reef, surrounding islands, or fishing. I can't wait to go back with my brother so that we can extensively explore the reef and dive The Current.

I've been there many a-time. Each better than the last. This is the only house I'll rent on my travels there. It's so comfortable, well-kept and has a fantastic view of the harbor. I recommend this to anyone looking at travelling to Spanish Wells.

Thats the only way to describe this place. Beautiful place, people, and beaches. Love the cottage. Very comfortable, nice yard with fruit trees, and a great deck for cooking out.
