You're sure to enjoy your stay in our lovely cottage with lush, beautiful gardens. The cottage is just steps from the bay and the best sunsets you can imagine.Your coffee will still be hot when you step down to the beach to read the morning paper and do some dolphin watching. Once your home from a day at the beach, perhaps you will want to surround yourself with nature by relaxing in our lovely butterfly and hummingbird gardens. Just picture yourself enjoying morning coffee or pre-dinner cocktails on the pond terrace listening to the sounds of the waterfall. You can grill up lunch and enjoy it in the screen house listening to the soft sounds of our fern-garden fountain. After watching the sunset, you and the family can gather around the firepit and roast some marshmallows. Creating great meals right at the cottage is a delight with our chef's kitchen and you enhance your favorite dishes by helping yourself to our many fresh herbs and edible flowers that I grow. Feel comfortable knowing that I do not use any chemicals anywhere in the garden. Our naturalistic bay-beach is just steps away, FREE, and abounds with wildflowers, dune grasses, butterflies, and dolphins. Whether it's for morning coffee, sunbathing,, or a glass of wine in the evening, you will find the bay calling to you to enjoy it's many pleasures...beautiful sunsets, dolphin sightings, beach glass hunting , fishing or bird watching. Our lovely beach has warm, calm waters perfect for swimming and wading and also has great fishing and crabbing off the jetties.
There is always something to do, or you can just do nothing. Music, fun, tropical drinks and good food just blocks away at the beach bar at Harpoon Henry's or at the many fine restaurants in Cape May. Wildlife preserves for bird watching are minutes away, Wildwood boardwalk 15 minutes, Cape May 10 minutes, the Zoo is 15 minutes away, and several wineries just 2 minutes away. Our area of the Jersey shore has something to entertain everyone and every vacation interest.
Beach chairs, umbrella and sand toys for the little ones are provided. You will love our spacious, private outdoor shower under the trees, screen house, lovely water features, and you can even do some bird watching right from your chair in the garden. My favorite thing to do is to spend time in Townbank. For me, there are many relaxing, pleasurable activities such as biking on the flat, picturesque roads, walking the beautiful, natural beaches, gardening, kayaking, and shopping the specialty shops of Cape May. Leisure time can also be spent hunting for "treasures" at the many antique shops and yard sales.
Why the Owner Chose Cape May
It only took one visit to Townbank and we were hooked. You, too, will fall in love with this quaint family community of single homes on tree lined roads with some of the oldest and largest trees in South Jersey. My family used to come here when I was a child and it hasn't changed that much. We fell in love with our cottage in the village of Townbank, bought it immediately, and have been working on it lovingly ever since. We enjoy every moment being there and so will you. You won't want to leave, I promise!
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
What we love about our cottage's location is the proximity to the wonderful shopping and sightseeing of Cape May and the nightlife of Wildwood...so close, yet so far from the those maddening crowds. We have absolutely no problems with traffic, parking, or late night revelers. Only the crickets, cicadas and distant horn of the ferry will serenade you while you're star watching around the fire pit. Not really a beach person, but still want to experience a great getaway? You can have nature take you away by just spending time in our shaded, lush gardens. We decorated the cottage comfortably so you will feel right at home. If you miss one of our world-famous sunsets, don't worry, we have a beautiful 25' mural of a gorgeous sunset that you can see anytime-night or day. Come and spend your vacation in our very special bit of paradise.

Wanted to tell you what a super long weekend we had at your house. Everything was just perfect - thank you so much for the champagne and wedding server - we used the latter to cut our cake! It was a super house - very relaxing with everything that we needed and lots of great areas to hang out and relax as well as cook and enjoy it...we will back back for sure!

The “Cottage by the Bay” is all that it is advertised to be. It was a perfect base to return to after exploring Cape May. Our original plans were to stay in one of the many B&B’s but we made the right choice when we decided a home to return to was better than a “single room with a bath down the hall”. The cottage was “as neat as a pin” when we arrived. We felt at home during our entire stay. Thanks to our host… our first visit to Cape May has provided many wonderful memories.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this quaint cottage. It is like having access to your favorite aunt's vacation home. The beds were comfortable and the grounds were simply amazing. The beach was so close by, yet there was hardly any traffic. It was great waking up to birds singing and not to traffic sounds. The trip into Cape May is easy and quick. The owners were very helpful and welcoming as well. I would recommend this cottage to anyone.
