After purchasing our lot on Second St we immediately contacted my brother Bill to draw up plans for our home. Having grown up in the panhandle town of Quincy Florida he knew the style we were after and his expertise was the classic "Florida Cracker House".
While the home was under construction most people thought we were restoring an existing home so our goal of having that "settled in" look was accomplished.
The brick in the court yard are from a warehouse in Chicago that was built in the 1800's and the wrought iron fence from a craftsman in Plant City.
The double doors that you enter through are from Europe as are all of the interior doors; we used 8' sidelites as doors going into the master bathroom.
We chose bamboo for our floors throughout to compliment the West Indies look we were after; the cypress paneling is "River Recovered" and over a 100 years old.
Melanie is an outstanding cook and her kitchen was designed by Frank Disalvo from Quincy Fl; you will find it has everything you could possible need if you decide to cook! The pendant lighting over the countertops are hand blown from North Carolina.
All 3 bathrooms have granite countertops and vessel sinks; the master bath has both a standard shower head and a rain head.
You may notice that we love light fixtures! Most are antiques of which we bought in Cedar key, Lakeland, & Tampa.
Our furniture is a combination of antiques passed down to us and purchased throughout the south.

Why the Owner Chose Cedar Key
After visiting Cedar Key almost every month since we started coming 8 years ago, we made the plunge to purchase our property. It was after an amazing day on Seahorse Key watching baby pelicans and listening to the waves lap on the serene beach, we knew we wanted to own a piece of this paradise. We made our offer and signed the contract and celebrated with a Pina Colada on Dock Street!! Construction began 5 months later.

PEACE and QUIET. An amazing cottage with incredible detail to quality and decor. Relax on the front porch or the court yard surrounded by lush landscaping and listen to the people passing by making comments on what a beautiful home this is. Walk to dock street for a cocktail or dining. The park and beach is right across the street for the kids. Take your boat and launch at the marina a block away and make your own path to the many isolated islands with white beaches and enjoy a private oasis. Watch the birds as they make their way at sunset flying to the islands for an amazing experience.

We love the outdoors and exploring remote locations; we have traveled to island locations throughout the Caribbean and enjoy the mountains as well to just "get away". After working hard, we want to escape to peace & quiet and enjoy each other and nature which has always been our theme for vacations. We love to snow ski, hike, horseback ride, boating and anything that gets us outdoors.
