We stayed at Pete's Condo for our Spring Break this year. The condo looked amazing on the website, but once we saw the place in person it was even better than expected. The view is perfect. We planned on eating more meals out, but after eating on the deck the first night, we decided to order in or pick up food most night so we could leisurely eat dinner on the deck watching the sunset. The location is perfect. It is 10 minutes from Sea World, 15 minutes from SD Zoo/Balboa Park/La Jolla/Downtown-Gas Lamp Quarter, and 20 minutes from Coronado Beach. Finally, Pete is awesome. He helped us take our bags to the room, answered a bunch of questions about SD, and even served us tea during the condo orientation. He also had a great book prepared, which listed a lot of information including where to visit, eat, and shop for just about anything. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our trip. The cost was great too. I would have been willing to spend much more after seeing the place. We plan to stay here on future trips to SD. Respectfully, David and Britni Leitman

Ocean View Doesn't Get Any Better Than This!

Pete's place in Sunset Cliffs is just perfect to take a "time out" from life! Floor to ceiling windows provide the most awesome views from living/dining/kitchen area as well as the master bedroom. Open them up to hear the sound of waves crashing below. Gaze out to watch surfers, seals, sea otters, and dolphins frolic in the waves, while pelicans fly by in perfect formation. The friendly beach community of Ocean Beach, or the more stately neighborhoods in Point Loma provide great walk-about options - all the provisions you might need, shops filled with treasures, fun local dining fare - without moving your car. Pete was the most caring and considerate host and did everything to make our 5-day stay as comfortable and convenient as possible.

This was a wonderful trip. We have traveled extensively and NEVER stayed anywhere that we spent so much time looking out the front window at the totally awesome view. We have reserved a week next December.

The listing description aptly identifies this apartment's extraordinary location--a direct ocean view from both its terrace and the living room's glass wall and door leading onto the terrace, with sights of flying pelicans, gulls, surfers--and wondrous sunsets. The Sunset Cliffs location is easily accessible to so many San Diego sights--walking paths and further sunset extraordinary views within easy walking distance at Sunset Cliffs County Park; nearby groceries; 2 nearby Farmers' Markets (Wednesdays in Ocean Beach; Sundays in nearby Pt. Loma); a 15-minute car ride to the wonders of Balboa Park (15 museums, gardens, walking paths, Old Globe Theater, plus the San Diego Zoo!); and similarly a 15-minute ride to downtown San Diego--Old Town, Copley Symphony, shopping at Horton Plaza, restaurants (several good ones recommendable as well in nearby Point Loma). The apartment and its very helpful and personable owner are a marvel. This rental is truly a treasure! We plan to return.

i'm not sure what else you could ask for in a rental place! the view and crashing surf, the well-stocked and furnished apartment and the location to breathtaking views, trails and close location to shops and restaurants near ocean beach combine to have you really want for nothing. pete and solveig, the owners, are incredibly accomodating. the place is neat, clean and in a fantastic location. i would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone. i would stay here again in a heartbeat! a fantastic find!!! don't hesitate to stay here!

Amazing Ocean Sunset

Chose this location sight unseen based on photos, reviews, and price. I was not disappointed in the least. Pete and Solveig are so nice and accommodating--Pete even ensured I had the necessary adapter in order to play music during the stay! The location is great--right on the cliffs overlooking the mighty Pacific and only a few blocks from the main drag of quirky, eclectic Ocean Beach. Head south only a few blocks to bike, jog or walk along the Sunset Cliffs trails. Also convenient to Mission Beach, the GasLamp District, and other area attractions and only about 15 minutes from the airport. The condo itself could use a bit of updating but it is clean and comfortable. The views from both inside and the verandas are truly amazing. Waking up to the surf literally just outside the doors/windows is wonderful and watching the sunset over the ocean from the veranda is truly spectacular. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would certainly come back.

wonderfully positioned on a cliffside of the continent - sound and sights of Pacific Ocean provided a confortable return from work at the Navy base. Pete was unique in his attention to my needs and was available at any given moment. The condo furnishings provided everything necessary and having a covered garage parking space was especially helpful to me.

When I rate something it is based on what my expectations are from the information provided. Being this condo met and exceeded those expectations, I have to give it a 5 star rating. As others have mentioned, Pete is a very kind and considerate man who truly wants your stay to be a blessing, and for my family a blessing it was. My wife and I have three children (8-6-3 years old), and each of our children had a blast. While in San Diego we celebrated our sons 8 year birthday and spent the day at Legoland which was a lot of fun. Feeling safe and secure is a priority for us, so we were comfortable and at ease while staying at the condo because it is a locked/secured building from outsiders, and the garage parking with remote was an added plus. I mention this because you tend to see the occasional shady character (or drunk) near by the condo. But all things considered the location is good, and conveniently located near shopping and restaurants. Though there is no beach by the condo there is one a few minutes away. We plan on coming back for sure. We highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to experience the ocean at it's best (a side from Maui).

Great Views Very Comfortable

You will not find more friendly or generous, and understanding hosts. The condo was very clean. The beds were comfortable.(many of these places have worn out beds. Not here.) We like to cook at home and the kitchen could be better equipped. Although this location is right on the water, there is little to no sand. It is a short walk to Ocean Beach, where we found great food and atmosphere. We recommend eating on the pier for at least one meal.

Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

My wife has always enjoyed her vacation stays at the beach when we lived on the east coast. Now that we are near retirement out in the West we decided to do a five day trip to San Diego. Through VBRO we found Pete's condo, just the perfect place for our getaway. Now that we are back in Phoenix, we are sorry that we didn't stay longer. It was a comfortable and relaxing condo with all the amenities and a perfect view of the surf from the living room balcony. Just sitting outside each evening was a joy. We watches surfers and swimmers below in the surf and even an occasional seal swimming by as he made his way up to the nearby State Park. Pete's condo is conveniently located to most every attraction and just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Ocean Beach.

My family and I had a great time staying at this location. Pete was great to work with and very flexible. We really enjoyed waking up and going to sleep to the sound of the ocean. The view was beautiful!!

The accomodations were very comfortable, clean and had spectacular views of the cliffs, surfers. The waves break just below your balony and bedroom window to further relax during your stay. Pete did a fine job furnishing the apartment to make the accomodations comfortable with games and a complete folder on activities. The garage parking place was a real bonus.

We chose this condo based not only on the photos, but also on the great reviews. The owner, Pete, was great to work with and met us at the condo the first day to explain the details about his place. In fact, Pete and his wife had a birthday card and small gifts waiting for my young boys because I had mentioned needing the place as part of a weekend to celebrate their individual birthdays. The beds were comfortable, the amenities were very good, and the views speak for themsevles. The location is close enough to all the SD attractions. Pete has board games and movies stocked for the kids and adults and has chairs and kids' toys for the beach in case they are needed. My wife and I had no complaints and the boys had a great experience. We highly recommend Pete's condo.

We have been inside almost all the beachfront buildings in San Diego, and there is really no place where you can get closer to the ocean than this building. The views are awesome, and the pounding surf here is as close as you can get. It's away from the party zone, and offers peaceful surroundings, yet there's lots do see and do and restaurants and shops, the pier, and the little village of Ocean Beach has both daytime attractions and nightlife.

The photos Pete shows with the vacation rental are so accurate - you will love this place! And you can sit on the patio and click your own pictures. Pete answered all our questions and the condo has 3 ring binders detailing the local attractions and the necessities of life (grocery/beverages). The condo is very well furnished and stocked with linens/kitchen items/entertainment items. I highly recommend the property. Conveniently located to walk among the neat neighborhoods or to the funky little town of Ocean Beach or along the shoreline. Amazing views! Love the ocean! All the members of our 5 girl party enjoyed the location. Thanks Pete for the wonderful rental - I am already talking to my hubby about when we can come to Sunset Cliffs area of Ocean Beach so he can see the beauty for himself.

I stayed at this condo with my mom, aunt, cousin, and mother in law for a girls get away. It was the perfect size for the five girls and with two bathrooms, lots of windows, and a great patio it was the perfect place for us. The view was to die for and the rooms and place was clean and adorable. I know I will be back!

This vacation place is even better than the accurate descriptions. It is picture perfect, attractive, very clean, and ideal. We were very pleased with the friendly assistance of the owners prior to and during our stay. We definitely want to return and highly recommend this great place to others. We've already told our relatives and friends about this wonderful place. There are lots of things to do nearby (Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Horton Plaza downtown, Coronado Island, LaJolla, etc.) as well as enjoy the relaxing beach life in the Ocean Beach area of San Diego. The airport is a 10 minute drive. Overall outstanding and we're happy to highly recommend it.

This was our third or fourth stay at the Sunset Cliffs condo, and we will be back again. There is plenty of space to spread out in the condo and the full kitchen is a must for travelling with young children. The spare room is perfect for our teenage neice when she travels with us as it provides privacy and even has its own bathroom. We made sure to make it back for the sunset from the roof and /or the deck on several nights of our stay. The underground secure parking is such a great amenity to have as well. The building and other residents are quiet and the unit itself affords much privacy. The only sound you might have to get used to is the beautiful sound of the ocean at your doorstep! I'm always impressed by how centrally located the condo is - 5 to 10 minutes to Sea World, 10 minutes to the airport, 12 minutes to Seaport Village, 15 minutes to Balboa park - you cannot ask for better than this location. The Ocean Beach location is great for early morning or early evening runs and you can walk to the market on Newport every Wednesday and pick up the freshest food to have on hand. The owners are so friendly and helpful, even helping us up with our luggage and providing great suggestions for things to do in San Diego. They are easy to get a hold of and an absolute pleasure to deal with - I have yet to ever deal with vacation property owners who are so professional. I tell everyone that I know who is travelling to San Diego to stay here.

AMAZING SURF SPOT VACATION

From the time that I called Pete, I knew from the way he conducted himself on the phone that he knows how to handle his affairs. I was looking for a perfect spot to surf in SD and found his listing online. Pete was very patient with me while we were doing the transaction. The pictures that he sent were gorgeous. So, I booked the place for my surfing weekend getaway from LA for 3 nights. Pete (the owner) was very accommodating, he even helped me carry my things from the car... he was there at the property the minute I arrived to welcome me. He was very down to earth - I was blown away when I saw the fantastic view from my living room and from my bedroom, and he was right -- THE SURFING SPOT was just down your unit. In fact, it's the best surfing spot aside from Black's Beach. He showed me around, the unit was spotless, there's TV in the rooms and living room, all kitchen utensils , refrigerator, games, books to read, binonulars, beach towels, etc. Restaurants were just walking distance, I surfed every morning and ran along the beautiful Ocean Beach coastline. I went to the rooftop with my best friend too and enjoyed the spectacular views. The condo unit was very secured for families who are bringing their childred, you will have your own parking garage...His place is CENTRALLY LOCATED-- 10 to 15 minute drive from everything (Zoo, Gaslamp, Blacks Beach, etc). It's just amazing watching the sunrise and sunset. This is perfect for honeymooners too as this place is very romantic with a nice size balcony where you can have breakfast or your lunch/dinner and just chill out and enjoy the sounds of the waves. The waves from my bedroom are a bonus too... Check out - Pete even graciously offered me to stay until late afternoon to enjoy more of my surfing. This gesture was so nice but my buddy and I had to drive back to LA before the traffic starts. He helped as again with our bags, etc on the way down to the parking lot and said our goodbyes to this wonderful man. This is the PERFECT PLACE to getaway from your everyday life... you will never go wrong. ENJOY!! I am going back soon... Jon from Los Angeles

We absolutely loved staying at Pete's. His condo had everything we required, including some great amenities for our two year old. Location is hard to beat - a nice walk to the centre of Ocean Beach with it's laid back restaurants and surf village style. And in the other direction, a beautiful spot to run down along Sunset Cliffs while taking in the scenery. Of course the view is spectacular, with surfers out front and perfect sunset views. We had a great time in the region and are hoping to make it back in years to come...

Great place to wakeup.

This is our second year to spend time at the condo in December. The master bedroom is such a treat with a really comfy bed and a view of the water. We go to sleep every night hearing the waves and wakeup in the morning feeling rested and relaxed. The garage is also a nice feature since many of the condos in this area don't provide secure parking. Great location whether you want to walk to Ocean Beach restaurants or drive to the local sites. Don't miss a trip to Cabrillo National Monument. The views are spectacular and the Bay Side Trail makes for a nice walk.

A Truly Wonderful Retreat

This property was a total delight. My husband and I stayed for 5 nights with our two teenage girls. It was spacious, clean, and loaded with amenities. We love the location and the private parking. We loved watching the spectacular sunsets from our terrace, and the sound of the ocean from below. At night we could watch the fireworks at SeaWorld from the roof. We will definitely return.

It's all about the view

The only problem with this place is you won't want to leave, ever! You won't want to leave to visit friends and family in the area or to see the sights of San Diego. You'll just want to sit on the balcony or in a comfortable living room chair or even stay snug in your bed -- watching the ocean. To get a better view, you'd need a boat. That said, trips to the many splendors of San Diego are quick and easy. And if you have family in the area, invite them over. There's plenty of room to entertain and they will love you for sharing the view.
