His place is awesome !! .. A Warm house complete with all facilities from towels to hot shower to TV and all , just like a home, nicely decorated. Just enought for 4 adults. Very comfy. Gordon is great too, despite is didnt get to meet him (sadly) but he still call up the house and check out on how we doing, very nice of him. We didnt find any problem moving around as we have rent a car, but you can find buying for grocery and food very convinient. Worth the price of stay! If i were to go back to Edinburgh, will definately look foward to stay in Gordon's house.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Gordon is an excellent host; his suggestions, helpfulness, & great humor were much appreciated. The flat is lovely & well-equipped. Be prepared to walk, take the bus, or hire a taxi if you don't have a car, as it is a bit away from the center. We are senior travelers & didn't find this to be an issue. Hint, take the #5 or 26 bus in. One stops at South Bridge & the other on Princess Street, both by the train station.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: thanks for 5* , well we are all getting older and a brisk walk is good , and for the age of you , you cover some ground ! haha . all the best glad you enjoyed the park

Gordon , We really enjoyed our stay in your very comfortable and cosy apartment. .We appreciated all the goodies you provided for us on our arrival .. It was a lovely welcome to have snacks and drinks and breakfast food ..the location was terrific .. Right down the block from a beautiful park(Arthur's Seat) and Holyrood Palace .. We had perfect weather so we climbed to the top of Arthur's Seat and had a gorgeous view of the city .. Three days passed quickly .. Such a lovely city and so much to see and do..loved Holyrood Palace , Royal Mile, Botanical Gardens, Edinburgh Castle,Grass market area, Stockbridge area, gardens below the castle and wonderful meals (especially Cafe Marlayne on Thistle) ..we then hired a car and drove to Spean Bridge where we have stayed 3 days visiting the beautiful Isle of Skye , Plockton and Oban ... Scotland is an amazing country filled with friendly, proud and helpful people ... We will be back .. Thanks again Gordon for being so thoughtful .. We hope to meet you next time .. Lynda and Mike QuinnOwner response: So glad you enjoyed Staying, and also took my advice to visit plockton .. Truly not to be missed .. So you did find it easy driving . 4/5 days in Edinburgh is fine and the same in a car to discover some of Scotland fine sites ... Enjoy and haste ya back Gordon

My husband and I stayed in this comfortable apartment for 4 nights on a special anniversary trip. Gordon goes out of his way to make you feel welcome, even offering to pick us up from city center upon our arrival. Not only is there a breakfast basket provided, but the fridge is also stocked with several essentials. A grocery store (Sainsburys) is 5 minutes walk if you want to do your own cooking in the well-appointed kitchen. We slept wonderfully in the UK King-sized bed (it is closer to a US Queen size). To get to city center enter through the nearby gate into the breathtaking Holyrood Park. What views! You will find yourself on the Royal Mile within 15 minutes. We can whole-heartledly recommend this clean and inviting apartment. It is truly a great value for the money. Gordon is an excellent communicator and a real delight to work with!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for staying ,

Let me start off by saying Edinburgh has become my new favorite city to visit in Europe and has inspired me to come back and see more of the Scotland..what a lovely city and country! This apartment very much played a big role in our overall very pleasant experience and wonderful visit. My family and I were in Edinburgh for a 4 day trip as I was participating in the Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon that weekend. I initially was very interested in the apartment because of its proximity to Holyrood Park and the start and finish of the race. Upon our arrival, I quickly realized that regardless of whether I was participating in the race or not, it is still in a great location. The second morning we were there, my husband, children, and I walked to the end of the street (a couple minutes walk) and entered the park. My children had a ball running all through the park and my husband and I enjoyed the stunning views of Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crag. Palace of Holyroodhouse, Holyrood Abbey, Scottish Parliament, and the Royal Mile are all right there as well within very easy walkable distance. The owner left us phone numbers for a car service, a taxi service, and a bus schedule. The city itself is very manageable by foot and when we didn't walk we were able to get a taxi quickly and for a reasonable amount. The apartment itself was perfect for our family of four (myself, my husband, my children-age 12 and 9). Gordon, the owner, could not have done more to make our stay more pleasant or easy. We were able to make payment initially through Paypal (either in US dollars or pounds) and then were able to arrange with Gordon, once we arrived, how to pay the remaining amount. We were not fortunate enough to meet Gordon in person, as he was out of town, but we were able to contact him by phone when we needed to ask a question. He also called us to check in and make sure things were going well. Upon our arrival, we were very impressed to find fresh milk, eggs, yogurt, spring water in the fridge and coffee, snacks, bread, cereal in a basket on the kitchen table. Very thoughtful and very much appreciated. We did not do alot of cooking, but the kitchen was well stocked should you desire to do so. There were many other thoughtful touches...extra brand new toothbrushes in the bathroom should you have forgotten yours, as my husband did ;), fresh towels, sheets on the bed, iron, hair dryer, umbrellas, DVD's, books, etc. Wonderful experience, highly recommend!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: All good and well , as long as you all enjoyed Edinburgh . That's my goal. I wish I could run a marathon . ( but running for a bus is my stretch ) haha All the best Gordon

Perfect apartment & perfect host = perfect stay in Edinburgh. This is a luxury 1 bed apartment with everything you could want for a weekend away. We stayed Friday u til Monday. Gordon sent direction and information via email before we arrived. Picked us up and drove us to the apartment. It's cosy, clean, welcoming and has very easy access to the city. We wanted for nothing as Gordon had even left some goodies in the fridge and a pot of soup made too! Just the thing for a snowy day! Couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay. Comes highly recommended. We'll definitely be back. · By The Smiths from Belfast on 3/27/2013 for a stay in 3/1/2013 atDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Super amazing, well stocked and wonderful home away from home experience. Gordon was very helpful and gave me step-by-step instructions on handling the key safe! Also, he stocked the kitchen with many basics and since we only stayed a few days we didn't even need to go to the market. He also ensured that we had a taste of the local Specialties- Irn Bru, Haggis, tea cakes etc. so yummy! There was nothing better than arriving after a long journey to such great accommodations. The flat is right next to Holyrood Park and you just walk across & are in the royal mile, super convenient. The rail station is also a few blocks away from the royal mile. Comfortable bed, warm, nice tv & DVD options. There is s witking phone, free wifi & access to a laptop. Really excellent and would recommend to everyone. Thank you Gordon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

what to say ! I should have gone with my gut instinct , I had a booking with an other property ,and 2 months before my arrival they canceled it [giving me a compete refund : but no help] I then went on to search another vacation rental and came across gordon {with whom} i had initially had an inquire. but chose another. Well Lucky Gordon was still available an came to my rescue.. [should have booked here first ,as he has been doing vacation-rentals since 2009 .. Let this be a warning to all,to make sure the vacation unit is just that , and not someone who is doing it till they can move there property in this volatile market thanks again gordon and for the use of the Garage all i can say is keep doing what you do best --_ _Helping we Travelers ,Recommended for: Age 55+.
Owner response: As long as all worked out. I know how disappointing you must have felt . But don't let it put u off Vrbo. I have noticed how in the US a lot of these rentals are a quick fix for the property market . Just read reviews and make sure it's a rental for some time . As you have experienced. It's started overhear too as a the property market caught people out.? My unit from the start has always been for the vacation / holiday purpose . Enjoy....

My friends and I spent 4 nights in Edinburgh over the New Year's Eve celebration and was lucky enough to book Gordon's apartment at a great price! The location was great - very close to Holy Rood Park and Castle (you have to climb to the top of the hill for fabulous view of the city!), and an easy walk to the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle and local pubs. There was a garage for our car rental and a chilled bottle of wine for Hogmanay :) Gordon provided all the amenities, including DVDs for late night movie viewing. Booking and payment was so easy, and Gordon was the kindest and most thoughtful of hosts, even though we didn't get to meet in person. Perhaps on our next visit?Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks Monique, my main aim is for my guests to Enjoy Edinburgh and make it easy as possible regarding booking and staying . I am not driven on price but everybody's s enjoyment Have fun in 2013 sorry i missed you
