The M&M Cottage is a cozy 2 BR, 1 bath home that was completely remodeled in the Spring of 2009.

It is called M&M in tribute to the prior owners, Marge & Mae Jean who lived here in the summers for many years. They sold the cottage last year to long-time friends who have cared for it and restored it beautifully.

It sits only 50 ft from the water so you have awesome sun rises and big lake views and breezes from the kitchen, family room or the screen porch. Every room has been restored and additional comforts are now provided.

Both bedrooms have queen beds with ceiling fans in all interior rooms. There is a full kitchen, dining table with views to the lake, a family room (with 2 sofa/sleepers) with a large TV and Dish Network satellite service.

The screen porch is big and is the perfect spot to enjoy an early breakfast or late night relaxation as you listen to the many loon families on Long Lake.

You have a private dock with only 20 steps to the lake. You can rent a pontoon boat from Northwoods Compass, the property manager, call 715-645-0598 for all the details. There is a large fire pit with firewood provided. Enjoy the Weber charcoal grill or go hiking on County trails within walking distance.

You are on the north end of Long Lake which provides big views and all boating options. There is a natural spring nearby for you to enjoy during that walk or bike ride. This cottage sits on the water's edge of an awesome lake.

M&M and the new owners welcome you to stay with us and enjoy all the lake and nature has to offer in a cozy setting with a little bit of history, courtesy of Marge and MaeJean who loved this cottage and the lake.

It is professionally managed by a local property manager, Northwoods Compass, which manages over 30 lakefront cabins in the Hayward area. Northwoods Compass has its own website by name which provides all cabin details. They are local and full-time so that you will receive excellent service during your stay.

Quiet and Cozy

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the M&M cottage this year. It was our first family trip to the Hayward area but wont be our last. The cottage was almost perfect for us. If we had one complaint it would be that the second bed, while described as a queen was more like a full size, causing us to utilize one of the sofa beds in the living room. The cabin was clean and neat and the layout and space was perfect for us. The kitchen was very functional and well stocked for visitors. The living room area and screened in porch were perfect and we used them daily. The fire-pit area was awesome and we had several fires for evening relaxation. The walk down to the lake was a little difficult due to uneven and old cement stairs but not anything really serious or hazardous. The pier and accompanying boathouse were perfect for storing gear out of the way. The lake itself was without a doubt the highlight of the trip. We saw no more than 3 or 4 other boats on this section of the lake at any given time and felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was perfect for skiing and tubing and we spent lots of time on the lake. The rest of the lake was an easy trip to explore and we enjoyed zooming back and forth from one end to another. Go to the sand bar for a day and relax, it is worth the boat ride. It was an easy cabin to find and the location was perfect, being only a few minute drive to the town of Stone Lake. The cabins next door to us were empty the week we were there and this really helped lend to the overall quiet of the trip. There are several sets of loons near the cabins and listening to them at night was a special treat. Additionally we saw eagles and falcons daily and much more wildlife while driving in the area. Hayward is a great town to spend a day kicking around in and we enjoyed the fishing hall of fame and the lumberjack world championships too.
