O'Neals Irish Blessing is a vintage lakefront cabin with incredible views. We are located on the main lake, not stuck back in a cramped cove. We have the best of both worlds! A main lake location with a secluded swimming area and privacy.
The Town of Lake Lure has inspected our house and approved it for rentals. This means you can rest assured that our house has enough parking, and has passed the comprehensive safety checks. Make sure that any house you consider has this protection for you.
You will park right outside the door for easy unloading and one step up into the house. The entry-level has an open floor plan with a great room, kitchen, dining area, full bath with shower tub, and a King bed room. A large screen porch off the great room overlooks the lake, mountains, and swimming area. Downstairs you'll find a bedroom with a Queen bed, den, and full bath with a large tile shower stall. The third sleeping area is a large semi-private den with three twins and a pull-out sofa. Two twins can be combined to make a king bed.
Leaving the downstairs you exit onto a covered patio with a gas grill, picnic table, and porch swing. (Our favorite place for enjoying the sunset!) Steps from the patio continue down to the waterfront. Sunbathers will love the 30x30 foot deck above the boat house. Daredevils will want to jump into the cool water 20 feet below. Adventurers will launch the 16 foot canoe for some peaceful exploration. We have an excellent protected swimming area just off the main lake. The house faces west towards an undeveloped section of the lake. If it rains, don't worry, the screened porch is a perfect place to rock away an afternoon. Your reward will be hearing and seeing distant waterfalls across the lake.

Spectacular Lakefront with Canoe & Privacy Right on the Water!
Year Purchased: 1987
Why the Owner Chose Lake Lure
Mom was born in the area and wanted to have a vacation home close to her roots. We always have fun either on the water or enjoying attractions like Chimney Rock.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
A convenience store is a quick five minute drive and a full service grocery store is a scenic 15 minute drive away. My favorite time of day is enjoying a morning cup of coffee on the screened porch. The daylight increases until the sun lights up the granite mountain-face across the lake.
Owner's Map of Lake Lure
Our family lives in Raleigh, NC but has always enjoyed time in the mountains. We have two children and a canine that we rescued from the local SPCA.

What a wonderful time we had at this cabin on the lake. Newly married on 9/24 we knew that we wanted a beautiful and natural setting to spend our first week together. We got just what we wanted. We loved the views from the porch and enjoyed many of the site seeing opportunities closeby. The cabin was well furnished, clean and comfortable. Some of the more memorable moments included a long canoe paddle to town and back, whatching three deer swim across the lake from the cabin porch, and the most incredible rainbow as we left for our trip home. Thank you for letting us share this slice of heaven! We plan to be back with the kids and grandchildren next year.
Owner response:Einar, we are so glad that you enjoyed our cabin as newlyweds! We look forward to your return with the rest of the family!

Our time at your lake home was fun and relaxing. Usually I am ready to get home by the end of vacation but I would love to have stayed a little longer. My sister and I got up before everyone else each morning, and just like you Shannon, enjoyed our cup of coffee along with the magnificient view on the screen proch. We loved that it was not a show house, but a home where the coziness and family pictures made it feel like a familiar place. The canoeing was a treat, and so were the ducks that visited every morning. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Plan on hearing from us again!
Owner response:Annette, we are so glad that you enjoyed the charm as much as we do! We look forward to you staying with us again.

Thanks Darin and Shannon for helping make my last minute planning successful. Your home is fantastic and in the perfect spot. I can't emphasize enough how spectacular the views are from your home. I've got great pictures but permanent memories. The bed upstairs was very comfortable and my son and his buddy loved the downstairs. However, jumping from the boathouse deck was definitely the thrill for them. We also found the rope swing directly across the lake, via the canoe, in the little cove. My favorite part of Lure has always been the floating out on the water in the late afternoon and evening. Also, we really liked the picture you hung by the TV of the family dog boating. You know you've found good people when they have portraits up of their 4-legged family members. The only negative was that my poor (last minute) planning only allowed us to stay 4 nights...hated to leave! Again, thanks so much!
Owner response:Jeff captured everything that we have come to love about our cabin! We knew he was happy with our place when we called to check in and he said, "he'd scored points with his wife" by finding us.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Our vacation week at the lake house was very enjoyable. The view from the house is outstanding and will be missed. We canoed everyday-the weather was excellent. Although fishing as slow, I did manage to catch a few bass. "Flatfish and rubber worms" worked best. Live worms catch blue gill and perch along the shoreline. Our stay was relaxing. The house was comfortable and well maintained. The porches are a real treat to enjoy the great views. We had fun! Thanks (We will also miss the occasional eagle over the lake, all the great blue herons, ducks and the call of all those wonderful pileated woodpeckers.)

We loved the lake house. We needed nothing more than the screened porch and the boat house deck! The lake was perfection! I can't think of anywhere else I would have rather been!

What a wonderful time at Lake Lure! The house is right on the lake with a secluded, pristine view! Loved the spacious screened porch and being right on the lake. It was very nice to be able to swim and canoe in such a private little cove. Hope to come back very soon!
