This is small-town America at its best! Turn back the pages of time to enjoy a simpler life, away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. For over a century, artists have been drawn to the towering dunes, pristine beaches and other natural splendors of this jewel-like setting. Stroll the tree-lined streets of yesterday or a boardwalk from which you can admire many boats. Picnic by the gazebo in Wicks Park overlooking the harbor. Ride a Victorian hand-cranked ferry. Rent a canoe, charter a sailboat or board an old-fashioned stern wheeler or an amphibious 'duck' vehicle. Treat yourself to a malted shake at the corner soda fountain. Explore a Titanic-era steamship, now a museum. Shop for fine antiques, art, clothing and home furnishings. Taste a beer at our very own microbrewery, or find the perfect wine at one of several tasting rooms. Tour a winery. Attend an outdoor art show, a gallery opening or a culinary event. Hit the links at one of three 18-hole championship golf courses.
Don’t miss Saugatuck’s internationally acclaimed annual Waterfront Film Festival, named the third most popular film festival in the world (after Sundance and Cannes) by the Screen Actors Guild. Experience the vibrant arts scene, featuring a variety of cultural programs, frequent jazz concerts, and the annual Chamber Music Festival. Mason Street Warehouse and the historic Red Barn Playhouse deliver Broadway-style performances for all ages. Experts can’t be wrong. Midwest Living Magazine ranked Saugatuck/Douglas fifth among the top 100 vacation destinations in the Midwest. Oval Beach was named one of the top 25 beaches in the world by Condé Nast, one of the top two in the USA by National Geographic Traveler, and the best of the best in the Midwest's by the Chicago Tribune.
Whether you come for an executive retreat, a corporate meeting, a family reunion or your own romantic getaway vacation, you'll be glad you discovered the treasure that is Saugatuck and Douglas-and thrilled that you chose Harbor Lights as your home away from home. We're certain you'll enjoy your stay.

Why the Owner Chose Saugatuck
Each day is like a scene from a Norman Rockwell painting - regardless of the season. This small town community celebrates diversity. Safe, friendly, small-town Americana, away from the hustle and bustle. There's so much to do...we enjoy the solitude of a walk in the woods and sunsets in a private cove on the beach. We love the towering dunes, pristine beaches and other natural splendors of this jewel-like setting on Lake Michigan's eastern shore. The town's Oval Beach is ranked one of the top 25 beaches in the world by Condé Nast and one of the top two in the USA by National Geographic Traveler. More recently, the Chicago Tribune rated it number one out of the Midwest's five best beaches.
Then there's the numerous art galleries, music and art festivals, antique malls and fairs, and exceptional local theatre. Saugatuck/Douglas is consistently named one of America's top 25 arts destinations. The town's Oval Beach is ranked one of the top 25 beaches in the world by Condé Nast and one of the top two in the USA by National Geographic Traveler. More recently, the Chicago Tribune rated it number one out of the Midwest's five best beaches.
Just recently, the National Trust for Historic Preservation selected Saugatuck/Douglas as one of the Dozen Distinctive Destinations in the United States and the writers and editors of Midwest Living Magazine ranked Saugatuck/Douglas fifth among the top 100 vacation destinations in the Midwest.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhouse
There are many fine properties from which to choose in Saugatuck/Douglas. What makes Harbor Lights special? First, you can't beat the location. A little less than a mile to the beach. A little more than a mile to downtown Douglas or Saguatuck. Right in the middle of everything you'd like to experience in this vibrant community. Then there's the views - overlooking a serene private pond, often with geese and ducks swimming about, and wide open green spaces which are perfect for tossing a frisbee or a game of catch. All this, with a beautiful view of Lake Kalamazoo harbor and downtown Saugatuck. Large, open, freshly painted interiors, with plenty of room for friends and families to gather. Speaking of room - there's plenty of them, so you're certain to find your quiet spot at any time of day. We're freshly painted throughout, with quality furnishings for your enjoyment. It might be difficult to find comparable entertainment options -- flat screen televisions in each bedroom, with DVD players and cable including HBO and free On-Demand offerings from Comcast. Wireless internet. Pool table and air hockey. A pinball machine, and arcade games, including TouchMaster (which includes more than 75 trivia, card and strategy games.) Enjoy movies? Choose from almost 400 dvds showing on a 65" big screen television. Prefer outdoor entertainment? Go for a refreshing swim in the pool. Or play a game of golf at the West Shore Golf Club, a sporty 18-hole, par 66 golf course just across the street. Go for a short walk and take the chain ferry over to downtown Saugatuck. And at the end of your day, curl up in a spacious bedroom on your king or queen-sized bed, featuring pillow-top mattresses for your comfort. We're sure you'll enjoy Harbor Lights, and hope you choose to stay with us time and again.
