There are few places where you can watch a phenomenal sunset from the privacy of your own balcony .... Seeing exactly what the sunset sail boaters see...but you do exactly that here. There are few vacations that are completely stress free, but this one is....you have proximity to several breathtaking beaches, the airport, groceries and shopping, and amazing dining experiences (Fig is exceptional and is within walking distance but see the owner's other recommendations; they are spot on!). And there are very few vacations where you really just never want to leave. I could stay in this penthouse easily for as much time as life would permit. It has all the comforts of home, is spacious yet welcoming, has a fully equipped kitchen with stunning views (please look at the photos!), is a mini art gallery, and you honestly have views of the water (there are two large balconies) that I have not experienced in any other of my Caribbean travels. My travel companions likely tired of me expressing daily just how gorgeous the water was...well, honestly, it was every time I walked to a window or balcony ... the beauty that surrounds you from the moment you wake up to bed time never ceased to amaze me. I could not exaggerate or oversell my totally positive experience and I can't wait to return for a lot longer than one week. BTW, I traveled with my adult son who is a photographer and pilot. This is his 3rd trip here. The opportunities for spotting planes and/or taking airplane and beach photos is unparalleled.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: The Maho Beach plane spotting remains the top tourist experience on the island. Relaxing at The Sunset Beach Bar (out of the Sun) while awaiting yet another amazing and unique opportunity to be anywhere from ten to forty feet below the 747s, 757s and Airbus flights on the soft sand as they arrive most every day. We often hear from our past and returning guests that even the photos on the VRBO/Homeaway sites do not do the penthouse justice. So, I believe they mean that you need to live it to love it. And ~ relaxing it is. As owners, we take pride in the penthouse not just because it is our personal getaway, but to provide our guests with the same experience that we enjoy. Brian

Great week! Two couples spent morning hours on the beautiful patio overlooking the most gorgeous ocean blue. We would watch the surfers or sailboats in the regatta in our PJs. After coffee, we would have breakfast with Ken the bartender at the Ocean Club Pub by the pool. Yes, there is a full stocked kitchen, and yes, there are multiple groceries within walking distance from our condo, but we were on vacation, and Ken makes great omelets to order and yummy home fries! We chose to go to a different beach each day, exploring the island. The condo is right on the border of the Dutch and French. It is close to popular and remote beaches, secluded French hideaways and touristy Dutch areas. Service at each beach was amazing - we were greeted by happy waiters with frosty beverages and lounge chairs. True paradise! Our hosts gave us a list of fabulous restaurants. Although we tried to eat our way through the island, there were too many delicious options to choose from. There were numerous restaurants within walking distance from the condo. We especially liked the Porto Cupecoy area restaurants, but we also enjoyed beachfront dining in Mati, the best burgers in Grand Case, and of course french pastries and fresh fish in Marigot and Simpson Bay. The St Martin people are very service oriented. After fun and sun, we came home to a clean, comfy penthouse with a very friendly, helpful staff. The kind people of St Martin truly made us feel at home. Special thanks to Mildred, our maid who came every day; George, the security officer with our sense of humor; Cheryl in the office, and her hubby Duane who arranged a rental car waiting for us at the airport; Oral, our dancing sailor on our boat; and our favorite waiter at Friar Beach who said his name was "Je T'aime." St Martin is absolutely my favorite Caribbean island. After a day in the perfect weather, the Ocean Club is the perfect place to rest....a large, comfortable condo with friendly faces to welcome you home.

Owner response: It is always rewarding to hear from our guests that they enjoyed virtually every aspect of our St. Maarten Penthouse and island! We provide our guests two word documents prior to their visit to highlight our recommendations concerning restaurants and beaches along with another offering a listing of the many activities available to our guests while on the island. It is rewarding to know that these folks found value in our recommendations. We also appreciate the wonderful staff here at The Ocean Club, and it is always great to hear from our guests that they, too, appreciate them. bt

Our family of five adults and a toddler spent Christmas week at this wonderful penthouse apartment in St Maartens. The owner was great to work with, gave us great tips on things to do, restaurants to visit, car rentals..... Everything we needed to know to making our vacation pleasant. The accommodation was perfect for us and the kitchen was very well furnished. We spent most of our time on the two terraces overlooking the ocean and grilled steaks for Christmas dinner under the stars! The staff at Ocean Club were very helpful and pleasant, as was the cleaning crew that came in. We loved the bakery Serafina's in Marigot for breakfast and coffee breaks! Ernest and Fidel, down the street was a great spot for lunch and the so was Rendezvous, next door! We all looked forward to Happy Hour at Jake's Bar and Grill downstairs by the pool, they also did great burgers and drinks! All in all a wonderful vacation!

Most people seem to avoid beach/southern areas when the weather isn't considered perfect with a willingness to pay more for "season." The advantages of going to this condo during summer FAR outweigh any imagined threats of "too hot, too rainy, too buggy, etc." The word "amazing" fits this penthouse and the setting. From the view over everything to the beach to the pool bar/restaurant, we could not have found better and there were no long waits for anything. This was our fourth trip to Sint Maarten and again, we loved it. Brian's place made the island even more special because it has everything. From check in to check out, our needs were attended to in a swift and courteous manner. The Club seems to operate as a seamless team with all employees working together to make the guests happy. We could not have been more pleased. We will always give this penthouse our highest recommendation and hope to return ASAP.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: We, too, find 'off season' to be great as the island is less crowded, and the temperature is typically 86 to 88 degrees daily. Great breezes flow over both of our balconies as well, making the inside and outside footprint of the penthouse ~ "Palme d'Or" a pleasure throughout the day. The Caribbean Sea waters are usually around 86 degrees in the Summer as well. The kind words regarding our staff at The Ocean Club have been spoken by all of our guests. Brian

My wife and I along with our 20 month old daughter stayed here for a week. The condo itself was very clean and tastefully decorated. The bedrooms are large and the living space is very accommodating. The kitchen was well stocked with all you need to cook meals and having 2 inside dining tables and 2 outside decks allowed a place for eating meals. The decks were fantastic. Almost a clear 360 degrees of view, and let's be honest, the views are why you stay beachfront. While this is technically not beachfront, it is a short elevator ride and a 50 foot walk to the beach. The pool was indispensable considering we have a young child who was not ready for the ocean water. The cleaning staff is super friendly and kept the unit clean, they came 3 times during the week which was a huge help. I highly recommend this condo, the pictures taken here do not do it justice. If you think the pictures make it look beautiful, then your breath will be taken away when you first walk in. The views are AMAZING. We will go back to Sint Maarten/St.Martin and when we do, we will stay here again. There may be different, equally nice places to stay, but this place was perfect for us, especially with a child.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

Owner response: It is so great to read your review as I realized your expectations were fairly high. So glad that we met them. BTW, you are so right about the two balconies ~

This penthouse is perfect for a relaxing getaway! The balconies provide great outdoor living space and the interior is very nice and spacious. The beach on the property is beautiful and fairly secluded. The location is fantastic, my friends and I are "foodies" and we were able to drive a short distance to a number of fabulous restaurants- Brian and Phil (the owners) had so many wonderful recommendations and are a great resource for creating an amazing vacation. I highly recommend this property!

Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: Once a potential guest has confirmed a booking with us, I send out an Email with recommendations on beaches and restaurants that they may find to their liking. When I know that they have young adults or teens with them I mention Loterie Farm and its Zipline and for younger kids the Butterfly Farm - both on the French side. Then there is the Ice Cream Parlor/Carousel in Simpson Bay on the Dutch side and Maho Beach where the KLM 747 and Air France Airbus come in for a landing seemingly no more than fifty feet above your head! Actually, that seems to be the most popular tourist site on the island of Sint Maarten/St. Martin.

I have been to the Caribbean a dozen or more times, but never before to St Martin. We went with another couple who we had not travelled with before. The apartment was perfect; with two couples we had plenty of together time & plenty of space for privacy. We liked the well stocked working kitchen. The dining area and the sunset porch will run up near the top of my memories. The condo altogether was warm, light and comfortable. The great room was a perfect area for hanging out in, and we loved the way we were able to be at our computers at the small kitchen table while others were nearby on the nice couches and doing things in the kitchen. Our rooms and beds were comfortable. And the artwork throughout the rooms was really exceptional and a pleasure to explore. The place was impeccably clean. The staff were very nice too. I really think the sunset porch was the highlight of the apartment and the trip. It was big enough that we ate most meals out there & spent many of our evenings there as well. The view, daytime & nighttime, is beautiful and uninterrupted. I've developed a fairly recent appreciation of "walkable" neighborhoods, so it was great to be within walking distance of grits and groceries (and Rum). We also enjoyed the French Market, it was great to know the quality saucissons and fromages were so available. I would add the Boulangerie/Patisserie to the recommended list Our favorite town was Marigot, but Grand Case followed close behind. Both had a feel of a fair mix of locals and Europeans... I would eat every day at the Lolos. The Fish House was simple, good food which was a welcome contrast to the packed and upscale Skipjack's, Belle Epoch was a fine lunch spot. The beach bar in the Ocean Club Ribs were a good mid-week dinner. All the Beaches were great – Friar’s and Happy beach were fun to go to and nice to go in the water at. Mati Beach was nice too, though a bit rough for snorkeling. We liked the Bay de Prunes– for less turbulent waters. We really liked the zoo, which many tourists might overlook. It was clearly a low-cost production, but it was a nice size – not so big you get overwhelmed, and the different monkeys were adorable. The numerous parrots and toucans were fun and we had fun with the free-ranging peacocks and peahens. The apartment is perfectly located right on the Dutch-French border so whether you want Dutch casinos or small town French-Caribbean flavor, both are immediately accessible.

Just returned from an 8 night respite from the crazy pace of normal life, having enjoyed lazy warm days and lovely nights at "Palme'D'or"...this 3 bedroom penthouse condo. We spent each morning enjoying breakfast, yoga, reading on the terraces overlooking the turquoise colored sea. Great well equipped kitchen and wifi to satisfy our adult children. Good location with grocery nearby and lovely small but private beach on property. Daily housekeeping to maintain clean unit, and owner had lots of suggestions for making our stay personal, with restaurants, and activities. I would recommend to others who are looking for roomy, condo vacation in St. Martin. Great comfortable beds! Bedrooms with pleanty of unpacking space (dressers, closets, etc) Laundry available....great perk! Concierge office helpful with typical "island friendly" attitude. Never got to eat at Mario's, or Cafe de Paris in Marigot as we were there at Christmas eve and some restaurants were closed. Temptations located next to Atlantic Casino (5 min.away) was excellent, as was the Thai place in the same complex. Also enjoyed Bistro Caribes in Grand Case, but dinners were moderatley expensive ($250 for 4, w/2glasses of wine.) Ken runs a bar and restaurant at the pool , with Happy Hour specials and the best mahi mahi we've ever had! We would rent again if we return to St. Martin.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: The qualities of our penthouse are appreciated by our guests as they wind down from their busy lives back here in the states. Although we do book rentals, it is our Caribbean home. I think it is expressed best by the comfortable Bedrooms, Great Room and Balconies with the ultimate in privacy from the chaise lounges to the views of the Caribbean. Happy Hour at Jane and Ken's Ocean Club Bar and Grill begins at 5:15 when Ken honks the Air Horn. Along with the Mahi Mahi, their Wednesday night All U Can Eat B-B-Q requires reservations as it is so popular. Not only are the Ribs great, but so is the price, and the Jimmy Buffet video projected within the bar is quite spirited! Marios is recognized as the best restaurant on the island, and also requires a reservation but not necessarily for Cafe de Paris. This is one of our favorites - tell Mehmet we sent you. We loved Sint Maarten! The beaches and snorkeling were awesome. We went to a different beach every day and embraced the various cultures at the beaches and in the cities. We went to the most amazing French Bakery...several times. This rental was fantastic: the view, the space, the balconies, the kitchen. After driving around the island and visiting a number of locations, we all decided that the location of the penthouse condo was ideal. We were pleasantly surprised with how exceptionally nice all the staff were and how clean they kept the place during our stay. We don't usually return to the same place twice but would love to go back to Sint Maarten's and will definitely see if your place is available if we are able to return.

The condo was great--very clean, well maintained, and comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked. We enjoyed watching the cruise ships come in and out and the planes land. The pool was great for the kids (and us). There is a grocery store within a half mile. We enjoyed Cupecoy Beach (small without amenities), Orient (clothing optional is not limited to just one end of the beach), Mullett Bay (closest to the condo with chairs to rent and a nice beach to walk), and then Maho to see the planes fly in (don't miss it). Our weather was a little iffy but we had a great time and would love to come back. We'd definitely recommend this condo for anyone that wants a great place as a base to explore the island.

Owner response: We are pleased that the booking was a success, and that the resort met up to the expectations. The variety of things to do and see is always of interest; however, especially, when traveling with children, we find that observing that there are many places in the world that aren't like the US or Canada, except for KFC and McDonalds' can be a lesson for the wise. This is especially true when visiting the French side of the Island, which is just 1/8 of a mile from our Penthouse. Although not all of us are of the same tastes, but we find the quiet and calm of French St. Martin to be 'sublime' relative to some of the 'ridiculous' elements of Dutch Sint Maarten. The French with no casinos, no buildings taller than three stories and beautiful beaches. Then the Dutch with 14 casinos, twelve story buildings and Front Street crawling with jewelry stores and electronics shops. We have been coming here since 1986 and are preparing to retire here if that says anymore!

This condo was perfect for our family. After arriving a day late on a horrible flight, it was nice to jump in a car and travel less than 10 minutes to get to the room. The place was a good size for 5 of us, comfortable, and clean. Views were fantastic! The new Blue Mall that is getting built across the street will be very convenient for future vacationers to get a little shopping in. We could not go onto Cupecoy Beach as the water was too high but there were other beaches to go to where the waves were not so strong (the island is easy to get around). The owner was great to deal with and very helpful when we ran into a few travel problems.

Truly a place to escape the stresses of everyday life! The penthouse is top notch and the view from the balcony is spectacular! Moments after stepping off the plane, island life seeps into your blood as you are greeting by turguoise water, white sandy beaches, and a mountainous terrain! Rum flows like water and the people couldn't be friendlier. I highly recommend this penthouse and Saint Martin for a vacation of pure relaxation and enjoyment!

The photo and text descriptions were very accurate, and the over-all large condo permitted us to get together when we wanted to, and go off to our bedrooms or the dining room where there are two comfortable reading chairs. The two balconies are especially enjoyable as they provide complete privacy and the sunset balcony is very large permitting two tables of four if needed. We were just two couples, so each of us had a full bathroom of the bedroom, though the third bedroom looks to be fine as well. The Ocean Club is clean and well staffed with the manager, Cheryl, and Mildred - the housekeeper. The resort pool and restaurant are both convenient and the stairway to the beach is located less than 500 feet from the garage where the elevator goes from the condo. There was a binder with information recommending beaches, restaurants and activities on the island. We really enjoyed the French side of the island most for the beaches, restaurants and general quiet compared to the Dutch side. The resort is on the border of the two sides. My husband and I have recommended this condo and they are spending their honeymoon there!
