Summer House condo description
We love our view! The lush green of the grass, palms, and tropical foliage that surround the Summer House pool are below us, and then straight out is the huge beach and ocean! The pool and beach are just a short elevator ride down and then a few steps away!! So convenient when you're dealing with little ones! This large two-bedroom condo is in the gated resort community of Wild Dunes, at the northern end of Isle of Palms. We are in a less crowded area of the beach, and yet we are close enough to walk or ride our bikes down to the Wild Dunes Village and Grand Pavilion area, where you will enjoy shopping, restaurants and often live entertainment. The resort offers two Tom Fazio golf courses and 17 Har-Tru tennis courts. The villa's SportsCard also gives you the option of accessing (for a fee) the resort's fitness center, a heated activity pool down near the tennis courts, and some children's programs in the high season. (You can also take a short 25 minute trip and be in downtown Charleston with its museums, aquarium, historic tours, carriage rides, ghost tours and gourmet restaurants.)
Stay for a week or for a month, the layout of our condo means easy living for you. With a separate laundry room in the back, a hall closet, and a pantry in the kitchen, the ample storage space helps it feel more like a home away from home. The master bedroom has a very comfortable king bed and walk in closet, and its bath has been redone with double vanities and a large shower. The second bedroom has queen and twin beds with plenty of storage space, right next to a nice sized second bath.
The well-equipped kitchen feels open and airy, and has wonderful views of the beach and ocean. Gather at the large dining table for family mealtime, or just pull one of the stools up to the bar for a quick bite. The family room is a great spot to cool down and relax after playing outdoors, with a large TV, DVD-VCR combo, and a Stereo/CD Player with an IPOD DOCKING STATION. (We also have TVs and DVD players in both bedrooms!) Be sure to take advantage of the FREE current and classic DVDs which we now have available for you! We also offer FREE LONG DISTANCE and HIGH SPEED WIRELESS INTERNET access. We feel right at home here, and we want you to as well! And the best part for us is our spacious balcony, where we love to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of ocean living.
Our aim is that you'll feel warm and comfortable, with some little touches to make your stay more relaxing and enjoyable. We hope that you will come and enjoy our villa by the sea, and want to keep coming back year after year!

Our family absolutely loved our weeks stay at Summerhouse 409. Unit is fully equipped with all you need with a stay with young children. Loved the view, up-to-date technology in each room and the advisory information on area activities and recommendations on area restaurants. Being in Wild Dunes, the beach is not crowded and the unit, building and pool are all clean. Our Colorado family hated to leave and looks forward to a return as the description was accurate and photos reflect the units appearance and amenities. Sharon was wonderful to work with. Sullivan's on Sullivan Island was our favorite restaurant while the Boathouse was our least favorite. Sullivan's child friendly and excellent while Boathouse was extremely noisy making it difficult to carry on a conversation. Boat rental at the Marina was very reasonable for the half day we were on the water.

Wonderful Place to Stay!
Wonderful Place to Stay!
I would like to preface this with the fact that I do not usually write reviews - unless I've had either an extremely wonderful or horrible experience. In this case, my family and I absolutely LOVED this condo and the owner! Sharon was so lovely to speak to and work with on the details of the rental. Another reviewer stated that the condo was "well stocked with every amenity you could possibly imagine." So true! When we first arrived, there was a luggage cart which was a welcome site. I traveled with my parents and twin toddlers - you can imagine what all we had to bring with us. We stopped at Target before we arrived to get some beach toys - even though Sharon told us there were already some there. I'm glad that Target was already sold out for the season because there were more toys than we knew what to do with in the condo! Another extra was the beach cart to lug all of your towels, toys, cooler, etc. through the soft sand. (Bring your own beach towels.) The decor was very nice (exactly what you see in the pictures) - not chintzy the way some beach condos can be. We were very comfortable and remarked several times that we would return to this particular condo. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony at night enjoying the sounds and the breeze of the ocean. My family and I usually travel to Sanibel Island every year, and this place puts all others we have stayed in to shame. If you visit the Charleston area, you will not be disappointed if you stay at this condo in Wild Dunes!

Fantastic Beach Vacation!!!!
Fantastic Beach Vacation!!!!
We just got home from a week at this condo and can't say enough good about it. :) Quite simply, we loved it. Our group consisted of myself, my husband, our 13-year-old son, and 11-year-old niece. A friend of ours came to stay the last few days. We arrived from Dallas on Saturday, got some lunch, hit the grocery store, then headed to the resort. The property is BEAUTIFUL and very well-maintained. We couldn't believe how beautiful the homes are on Isle of Palms! Wow!!! So, we get to the condo and I actually think I might have gasped when we opened the door. :) The air conditioning had been turned on for us, so it was nice and cool. The walls are light and cheerful (yellows and light greens), the furnishings are high-end, the bedding is very nice, and the view was amazing. We all immediately loved it! Granite counter-tops, nice appliances, full-size refrigerato (with ice-maker), washer and dryer, and all the stuff we needed in the kitchen. The pictures online don't really do it justice. There is a ton of storage space and plenty of hangers, even if you overpack like me! It was stocked with plenty of dish soap, a small (like 16 load?) container of laundry soap, and a large roll of paper towels. We did end up picking up a soft-side cooler to take some drinks to the beach, but that was personal preference. The rooms are large and the whole place feels very spacious. We loved sitting on the balcony, looking out at the pool and ocean. Almost every morning, I was out there watching the waves and the evenings found me there with a glass of wine. The sound of the ocean was amazing. The quality of the patio furniture is VERY nice, too! No cheap, uncomfortable plastic chairs in this unit! Three of the days during our week were rainy, but we didn't miss a beat. We played some of the board and card games that the owners have there as well as watching some of their movies. The selection on both was nice! We also enjoyed the items provided for the beach! I have to say that the owners (Sharon and Dave) made this an extremely easy vacation for us, which is exactly what I wanted. We are definitely coming back and would HIGHLY recommend this condo to anyone looking for a beach vacation! You won't regret it. :) Recommendations: Eco Barrier Island Tours crabbing excursion, Seabiscuit cafe (breakfast - cash only), Hominy Grill (dinner - Shrimp and Grits was amazing!). :)

Manager response: Wow! Thank you so much! We LOVE it when folks love it there! We do our best to make our place a warm, welcoming, and relaxing place to be, and we are grateful when our efforts pay off for you! And the Isle of Palms and Charleston area is so beautiful and full of such a wide variety of activity choices - hard to beat!
just wanted to tell you that we had a wonderful time in Wild Dunes and your apartment is fantastic! We couldn't ask for anything more, even the movies and games you had were perfect for our family and we enjoyed the good organized kitchen as well. There were 2 bigger blue beach chairs in the hall closet as well as a small striped one all looked good, but we didn't use them. And there were tons of sand and beach toys as well. So I definitely will recommend your apartment to friends and perhaps we will be back! (if only there wasn't that car drive from Chicago!) So thanks for a beautiful vacation Verena

Manager response: Yay! We try hard to make our place relaxing and comfortable! Thanks for the feedback! Our kids now range in age from 13 to 27 (wow) so we're glad that it's also a good spot for the younger kids!
Most relaxing vacation I ever had.
Most relaxing vacation I ever had.
My family's stay at 409 Summer House was extremely enjoyable. The owners have thought of everything! The accomodations were very comfortable, clean and well maintained. The listing photos and description of the location were perfectly accurate, but honestly it is even better in person. The owners were very friendly and helpful and made sure that we didn't have any questions and even made sure to mention all of the fun things to do close by. It was my son's first beach trip so I had high expectations and they were all met and exceeded. The beach infront of Summer House is very nice and wide and was not crowded at all, so it was perfect for us and a 4 year old to build sand castles to his heart's content. I would (and have already) recommended this property to everyone I have told about my vacation. It is obvious that the owners are professional but also that they have taken great care and put alot of thought into their property. It felt like home and I will definitely stay here again. Extra credit for all the notes written on the map telling us about all the owners' favorite places!

This is one of the nicest condos we've visited in Wild Dunes. We vacation here regularly and were incredibly impressed with this unit. It is beautifully decorated and is well stocked with every ammenity you could possibly imagine. The owners have really thought about every detail when organizing their beach place. We felt right at home all week. Additionally, the owners were incredibly kind and very professional. For those of you not familiar with the area, Summerhouse is a great complex. The view is incredible, the beach is beautiful and the pool is great! We will definitely stay here again and will recommend it to our friends who vacation in Wild Dunes.

Year Purchased: 2009
About: We live just north of Atlanta, Georgia, and we've enjoyed family beach vacations for years. When we purchased our villa, our 4 children ranged in age from 10 to 24. With such a range of ages, we've always enjoyed going to the beach, where we can all find things to do that we enjoy. We are still pinching ourselves, trying to believe that we now actually have a beachfront condo! We plan to get over there as much as possible, and we are also excited about sharing it with others! We know the things that made condos we rented stand out for us, and we hope to make ours feel as comfortable and friendly as we can. We feel truly blessed.
Why Summer House:
We love Wild Dunes!! The drive time from our home is only 5 hours and 15 minutes (not counting potty breaks), so it's very do-able even for a long weekend. We love the fact that there are no high rise condos on the resort (ours is tall, at just 5 stories.) The golf courses, tennis courts, and bike paths are all very well manicured and beautifully landscaped. We also like the fact that it's a gated community - this gives us extra peace of mind when our two younger kids want to go off exploring on their own. The Grand Pavilion area is awesome on a summer evening - a quick bike ride and we can have ice cream as a reward! Nearby we have many different nature tours and fishing options, superb restaurants, and then of course Charleston being right around the corner is awesome! We also love that even though we feel very relaxed and 'away from it all' when we're at the condo, we are only 15 minutes from a huge, upscale shopping center and movie theaters. So much to explore...a week at a time is hardly long enough!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
We have decided to pay so that our guests will have a Sports Card available to them. The Sports Card is free to you. It provides you free access to the Grand Pavilion area and its pools (after 6pm), and also gives you the opportunity (for a fee) to access the resort fitness center, seasonally heated activity pool, and kids programs. The golf courses and tennis courts are also available to you, and of course, the Summer House pool is exclusively for the owners and guests of Summer House villas. We have stocked the villa with some books, and with some of our family's DVDs and VHS tapes, and we also placed some sand toys and 2 beach chairs in the hall closet. (We don't want to guarantee that all this is still there, but our awesome guests have taken wonderful care with everything so far, and we expect that this will definitely continue to be the case!!) We also have the Free Long Distance, High Speed Wireless Internet, and our kids LOVE that our stereo in the family room has an IPod Docking station. We'd love to hear your ideas on ways to make it even more welcoming for you!
